what about vitamin deficiencies or Hypothyroid?? both of which are EXTREMELY common with Celiacs. and i THINK these two also can contribute to pregnancy/fertility issues.??? it's definitely worth looking in to!!! and also like above poster said- maybe additional food intolerances are hindering your intestinal healing- and maybe that has an effect too....

ARCHIVED New Symptoms In 7 Yr. Old Are Confusing Me
cassP replied to rysmom's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
he might (just like many many of us)- have additional food intolerances... (soy, dairy, corn, grains, sugars, fructose, etc... for example)... ??? chocolate & caffeine can cause reflux too. i actually have a very strange immediate reflux & (near vomiting) reaction to: bananas (alone), green tea, & red onions. do his new meds cause reflux... -
ARCHIVED Refactory Celiac
cassP replied to CarolinaKip's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
well, i hope you dont have refactory!! i just looked at your "signature"- that's a nice long list of things to avoid- altho if most of us wrote down other foods that bothered us- it might look just as long. i hope you're still experimenting with "grain free"- many of us DO feel better off all grains another thing you should look at before you completely... -
the "official" word is that corn does not affect celiacs. BUT many of us have issues with corn, sorry... but you might be okay. i try to keep my corn to a minimum... only in certain Gluten Free "cheats". i also think that if corn is tolerable for some... corn starch, HFCS, & High Maltose Syrup might be more problematic.

good idea to show her that list!!! but u might want to add MORE to it: constipation HEMMOHROIDS... to the point where u may need excruciating surgery hypothyroid depression/anxiety/panic attacks DH, psoraiasis, and excema etc,etc... i think you need to ask your doctor for a copy of her results- and study them. they may not be complete- or they... -

ARCHIVED Should I Ask Dr. For Celiac Test?
cassP replied to LynnP's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
OY VEY i LOVE how these docs can just say something like: you probably just have a "little autoimmune" disease.. and then, just leave it at that- and NOT test for any ???? why are these docs so complacent with not providing answers?? ya- i would ask for a celiac panel... why not- dont we deserve to know what's going on in our bodies??? just make sure... -
ARCHIVED Going Back On Gluten Diet
cassP replied to navyguitar's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
if you're going to get tested- you need to be eating at least 4 slices of bread worth of gluten a day (or more) for at least 6 weeks (or more). my doc put me on only a 2 week challenge- and most of my tests were "inconclusive". recent studies report ONLY 1 in 6 Celiacs have Gut symptoms. many of us on here & many not on here have additional neurological... -
i thought that Sea Salt & any Seafood, for that matter, contained iodine???? i had also read once to eat alot of seaweed for the iodine- to help the thyroid work right- now this is quite a conundrum- to have Celiac & DH- AND possibly a Hypothyroid... OY

my reflux is still with me- but nothing like when i was on gluten- gluten was the WORST culprit in that- that acid would immediately start sizzling up after eating wheat & gluten.... past few days, ive noticed chocolate doing it a little, and this makes me incredibly sad also- i would like to stress to you- that taking strong stuff like Prevacid...

ARCHIVED Is (Decaf) Coffee A Problem For Anyone Else?
cassP replied to vegan lisa's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
coffee totally irritates my intestines and i still drink it. I guess that's called addiction. If i have too much coffee or tea- i'll get explosive something if u know what i mean. I believe the tannins and acids are irritating to some people. Decaf still irritates my system but not as much as regular. -

i dont have very good advice as far as fodmap- BECAUSE all of us have kind of figured out trial and error. everyone seems to have a different relationship with fructose and fructans. for ME: my biggest avoids are: Pears, Dates, Apples, Apple Juice, Grapes, Prunes. (i can do ONE prune, or ONE bite of a Lara bar, maybe a TINY handful of raisins- and that...

im sorry you're not having great luck with your doctors... i hate that they're so dismissive and so NOT FULL of answers when we pay them so much money- *especially in the ER. i dont think ive had hyperactive GB. i have done Liver flushes in the past and purged many gall stones- 400 at one time. but i do totally believe in a hyperactive organ. i just went...

ARCHIVED Sinus Symptoms?
cassP replied to Nen's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
ive had sinusitis off and on for the last 6 years... i think a number of factors are playing in to mine.. for you- it could be anything including gluten &/or dairy... or also ive read H.Pylori & Candida can do the same. an accupuncturist explained in simple terms to me that if im having a ton of stomach issues- that all my energy has gone to... -

OMG Burdee!!! can i take you with me to my PCP for my thyroid talk and testing???? seriously- i bet you could prescribe better that she could im scared now. i felt a validation with the celiac dx- but i dont have to take a Pharmaceutical for celiac. i know i may very well have hypothyroid (my last TSH in 2006 was over 4.50)... and i dont really want to...

DQ2s and DQ8s make up the majority from what ive read, they're considered the "classic" genes... but just because you dont have those 2, doesnt mean you cant have celiac! there's members on this forum with celiac and different genes. from what ive read, there's like 27 DQ genes that are linked to gluten sensitivity/intolerance. and it seems as tho doctors...

ARCHIVED Gluten Challenge Questions....
cassP replied to kpryan's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
didnt read your whole post, sorry, starved, gotta cook BUT i saw "Nexium" and wanted to read that part-> those proton pump inhibitors can really mess you up if you take them longer than a week or two- i, personally would only take maybe Zantac IF i had an ulcer. as far as i know Celiac isnt necessarily linked with excess acid- BUT, many of us have...
