  1. well they DO have that term: Ibs with Constipation. yes, its possible your body is just going thru phases of healing- but i would suggest you keep checking with your GI and getting a colonoscopy too- just to rule out anything else like Diverticulitis, polyps, an infection... etc.... it is a huge relief im telling you to get one, and rule everything out...
  2. im a massage therapist (at the moment)-> and i KNOW that hand and wrist issues can definitely be caused by repetive movement and injury. but i ALSO know that gluten can cause nerve damage & pain in the joints. saw this post recently: Open Original Shared Link it could be that or both. also wheat germ agglutin can cause pain in the joints...
  3. ya- try to get the blood tests and maybe even a biopsy as soon as you can- or at least before you go off the gluten- but i TOTALLY understand. my GI had only had me on a 2 week challenge (and the previous 6 years i had been mostly gluten lite).... so my blood tests were still somewhat inconclusive- and my insurance company wouldnt do the endoscopy. Anyways...
  4. thanks for all the info. im suspecting i have hypothyroid too, i hope its still only borderline. anyways, i was lead to a doctor in Lakeland, Fl- who wanted to do the Heidelberg test on me. im so glad i did- i had no idea that i had literally been shutting down my stomach. i had sufficient acid in the morning - but as soon as he gave me the alkaline tablet...
  5. that sweet potato/yam & bison mix sounds DELISH!!! i actually like to make a big Shephard's Pie... but with sweet potatoes instead of regular potatoes. beef, peas, carrots, gluten free seasonings, and a little melted mozzarella on top
  6. sorry, not trying to invalidate you at all. i dont doubt for a second that you shouldnt be eating gluten- i, personally am just one of those people who needs the dx for myself to be motivated and for people (esp. doctors and my family to take me seriously). and i think IBS is a BS term. its a DX to ensure Big Pharma makes money off of Undiagnosed Celiac...
  7. OY i just tried these last night, but with almond butter (cant digest peanuts)... and i didnt like them plus i had gastritis moments after eating one- im suspecting the molassess in the brown sugar (too much fructose for me) ???

    ARCHIVED Iodine?

if you dont have DH, or some sort of Anaphylactic shock, then i dont think i would worry about the iodine at all. isnt it supposed to help our thyroid work better?? the 1st time i went pretty much 98% gluten free (atkins & bloodtype a decade ago)-> i dropped weight and was cured of all health problems BUT i had severe ACNE on my forehead for about...
  9. i agree with Ravenwood! i do NOT think everyone on a gluten-free diet would react to being glutened. i do think with 30% of the population carrying DQ genes- that it is POSSIBLE for 30% of the population to be sensitive to gluten... with a subset of that group being intolerant or celiac. i think there's even more than 30% who might have sensitivities to...
  10. it does not confirm a diagnosis - but dx this disease can be so tricky sometimes. False negatives are common and nonceliacs can still suffer from gluten. And some celiacs dont have any stomach issues. Dont know if you want to go back on gluten for tests....?? for many people on here, how they feel on the diet was diagnosis enough And i LOVE Tinkyada pasta...
  11. i THINK the soaking helps get rid of some of the starch??? i wonder if that's why sometimes chickpeas dont bother me, and sometimes they do- maybe when preparers wash or soak more- i get less starch. ??? (the Paleo diet is the latest diet book out... its basically The Caveman diet.. a lot of people do well on it, cause a lot of us feel better off of...
  12. oh thats FANTASTIC!! that his RA symptoms disappeared. i love stories like that
  13. the less carbs i eat the better i feel for sure! i can get away with rice and quinoa... although it keeps me from getting on the skinnier side. i try to stay away from Corn & Soy... sometimes i have no reaction.. sometimes i have an allergy attack.. and sometimes i get gassy... and my gas is always painful i try to go easy on the gluten...
  14. i like how with Nestle-> ive been able to find Coffee Creamer & SemiSweet Chocolate Chips with a "Gluten Free" Label on the packaging im still learning & reading every single ingredient... so the gluten-free label helps!
  15. yes, ditto and ditto. also, i recently read a study where celiacs or gluten intolerant patients had their cholesterol retested after being on a gluten free diet. it seemed as though being gluten free for some time may have raised their HDL, and lowered their Triglycerides. but had no effect on their LDL. forgot where i read it. i was a little perturbed...
  16. when i got a copy of my results from my PCP AND my Gi ( i had 2 panels done).. the ranges they had were: TTG Iga: Negative 0-3 Weak Positive 4-10 Positive >10 TTG Igg: Negative 0-5 Weak Positive 6-9 Positive >9 my TTG was a weak positive, my antigliadin just in the negative range, i am...
  17. sounds like celiac or gluten intolerance to me for sure. and false negative blood tests are common ESPECIALLY if they dont test for EVERYTHING. stress CAN affect your digestive tract- ABSOLUTELY, BUT-> that doesnt mean it's all "in your head" at all... its up to you if you want to go on an ADEQUATE gluten challenge for more tests... or if you dont...
  18. did your doc say a low positive ANA was only for Rheumatoid?? i got lupus tests for 2 years as a teen. i only had 2 or 3 symptoms out of the however many you need to diagnose. and 1 of those symptoms was an "Elevated ANA". my understanding is that an elevated ANA could be a marker for a number of autoimmune diseases, not just RA. ??? my Gi even said ...
  19. ps- so you have a DQ8 gene too. it doesnt neccesarily mean you have Celiac, but it ABSOLUTELY means you have the genetic predisposition and that it IS a possibility.
  20. i agree, they do not rule out celiac. im ASSUMING your Iga & Igg results around 1 are test results for Tissue Transglutamase. it's the most common antibody test that docs originally go for when testing celiac- but its not the only one. there's also Antigliadin Iga & igg and Endomysial Antibodies. your LOW Ttg results dont neccesarily rule out...
  21. OMG! what a waste of time & money & endoscopy!!!!! geez ... no wonder our medical system doesnt work and costs so much... ridiculous
  22. idk, but i just googled the ingredients. High Fructose Corn Syrup & Soybean Oil are the first 2 ingredients.. and dairy is also in there- all 3 of those can really bother some people. but idk what's giving you those symptoms.??
  23. a heating pad is great- but only do 20 min on, 20 min off... after 20 minutes the body will create more inflammation. i would take the Pepto to help sooth your digestive tract... but if you're not feeling too bad, i would maybe skip the immodium.... and just let your body purge. unless you're terribly uncomfortable or got bad hemmohroids. and i would...
  24. in the past i always lost weight when going off gluten.. but this last july when i finally went 100% gluten free- i put on maybe 5-7lbs the 1st month-> but that was because i GORGED myself on gluten free cookies and treats!!! ive taken it back off, after going back to more natural foods and a low carb diet, im slim again. everyone's different. i was...
  25. in addition to having your child on the proper diet.... try L.Glutamine. there's a great product called Intestinew.. or you can just get plain L.Glutamine powder (double check it's gluten free)... mix a dose with water and have your child drink it at night- it helps heal the intestinal lining- and its best to take it at night- it coats the intestines and...
