ARCHIVED Gluten Free For 6 Years- Retest Came Back Negative
cassP replied to Manda Herndon's topic in Doctors
ditto. you were diagnosed with celiac, you are a celiac. the recent negative tests show that you have healed your villi and are not actively producing antibodies. like said above- you can still eat the food pyramid/carb heavy if you like- just without gluten. -
ARCHIVED Rudi's
cassP replied to modiddly16's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
no, it doesnt surprise me. my reactions were often different and varied in severity... sometimes- the most i would feel is full and fat... and sometimes i would only see the reaction in my BM the next morning (sorry, tmi). other times i would feel like i was going into labor. -
ARCHIVED Diagnosed With Celiac 11 Days Ago - Maryland Girl
cassP replied to Melissaann829's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
its hard to say, cause everyone has different amounts of damage. some on here say it took months to feel better. ive gone gluten free several times before i finally did it for good this july... it's always taken me about 3-4 weeks to feel like i had a fairly normal digestive tract. its been @11 weeks for me-> my digestion is pretty ok as long as i dont... -
ARCHIVED My Celiac Story - What A Long Journey
cassP replied to Melissaann829's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
so sorry you had such a long journey to get here- so great you know now tho- you are on your way to feeling like a completely different person. you might also want to ask your doc about B12 &/or D deficiencies... and maybe check your thyroid. and know that it takes time to heal and feel better, but you'll get there -
ARCHIVED Rudi's
cassP replied to modiddly16's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
the store probably put it in the wrong spot... i am confused- not sure if it's the same company- or if it's 2 different companies.... but there is gluten free products by Rudi's, and i see them in the freezer at whole foods. there is also some "Ancient Spelt" bread that my mom gets - and it TOO is made by a "Rudi's"... it's with the other breads at... -
ARCHIVED Really Nervious - Help With Questions For My Gastro Appointment Tomorrow
cassP replied to jstanton8's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
my Ttg and Antigliadin results were similar to yours. and my total Iga Serum was deficient, which means my Ttg and Antigliadin results were inaccurate. but my Endomysial Antibodies were positive. the total Iga serum & Endomysial Antibodies are important tests to get! BUT- this (and biopsies)- all depend on how much gluten you've been ingesting... -
ARCHIVED Buckwheat, Butter, Honey, Thyroid
cassP replied to elk's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
i cant relate to the migraines or hbp.... sorry. but i CAN tell you that i just got off of Google- i had to go back and look at the lists on the FOD MAP Diet... because i have been in abdominal distress for days... i thought i had already had my fructose consumption to a safe low level.... but i guess i was overdoing the fructans this week (garlic, onions... -
ARCHIVED Herbalife, Is It Gluten-Free?
cassP replied to C.Raquel's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
ive never taken it. i found this link with ingredients, but i dont know which drink you're talking about: Open Original Shared Link for me- losing weight is easiest and quickest if i am sugar and carb free. even then, i still have to exercise... AND sometimes i dont lose a pound untill the 4th week- but then it just falls off of me quick. you are diabetic... -
ARCHIVED Dtap Vaccine
cassP replied to jewlee17's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
that makes sense- but why do people with egg allergies have reactions?? if it bypasses the gut? also- if we have ttg, antigliadin, or endomysial antibodies in the blood-> wouldnt they too start to freak out if gluten entered the bloodstream?? -
ARCHIVED Another Newbie Looking For Advice :)
cassP replied to tankgirlwa's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
even if he feels a lot better off of dairy-> keep in mind that its very common for lactose & gluten intolerance to be intertwined. often, the lactose intolerance is secondary and a side effect of gluten intolerance. some people heal enough to add dairy back in, and others may not. -

ARCHIVED Does Anyone Crave Gluten After Being Glutened?
cassP replied to RachelisFacebook's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
its because its addictive. seriously. i dont have all the scientific details for you right now- but gluten, wheat, and dairy are all addictive and have an effect on your seratonin. ive had a very addictive relationship with food most of my life. ive finally gone 100% Gluten free and am comfortable with that. but a pizza delivery guy passed me tonight as... -
ARCHIVED Genetic Test- Results
cassP replied to Simona19's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
yes- everything that ravenwood said im sorry, but all of those allelle numbers and complete gene numbers really confuse me. i wish they would always just translate it simply for me. my understanding is that DQ2 & DQ8 account for nearly 95% of Celiac cases. AND i believe that there's about 27 DQ genes that all have potential and possibility... -
ARCHIVED How Worried Should I Be About My Son?
cassP replied to ljgs's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
dont add worry to your life- "worry" never helps any of us.. i know- "worry" has added so much pain to my life. anyways- its absolutely a good idea to have routine testing for you, your husband, and son. remember that only 1 in 6 celiacs show any gut symptoms. make sure when you're getting tested, you're eating enough gluten (@ 4 slices a day...... -
ARCHIVED Yay I Met Someone Local Who's Also Grain-Free
cassP replied to precious831's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
before i ever ever ever went on Atkins... then Bloodtype... then for sure 100% gluten free... i ALWAYS !! my WHOLE LIFE!! was in SEVERE PAIN after eating Popcorn!!!! ALWAYS... it was AWFUL... but i would still try it again at the movies cause it tasted so good- i guess i always just had this "martyr" syndrome.. or "selfpunishing" thing- like "what is wrong... -
im sorry, it sounds like you're going thru a lot. i know- i wish taking out the gluten would be the "magic bullet". most of the time, i do feel like that- but i still have some issues- i KNOW there are a lot of other things my body just cannot do. i feel better with NO GRAINS, SUGAR, or DAIRY... but im not always able to take those out. i really love...

ARCHIVED Another Newbie Looking For Advice :)
cassP replied to tankgirlwa's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
ive always heard people mention "D" as the most common symptom. but i would suffer "C" and other issues with gluten. the "D" mostly came when i was at my worst- and i would drink something with milk. i agree that you should go get him tested ASAP- while he's still eating gluten. you want the tests to be accurate. -
ARCHIVED (Semi)-Vegetarian Diet Vs. Pork
cassP replied to Pac's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
maybe it is the fat you're craving. pork fat tastes really good. i avoid pig tho- i, personally, dont think pig is good for anybody. you definitely need good fats in your diet- for your health and your satiety. <- is that a word? if your muscles need more iron or protein-> you should try to add red meat, eggs, or dark turkey meat. i really... -
ARCHIVED Does Anyone Get The Gluten Symptoms From Antifungals?
cassP replied to jackay's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
i dont have any expert advice for you regarding antifungal treatments, cc, etc... BUT- is it possible that your body is being put thru too much detoxing?? idk... i have some chinese tinctures that i sometimes take to detox the liver and gall bladder- and they specifically say to only take 3 weeks in a row.. and to always take a 4th week off. i THINK... -
ARCHIVED Genetic Test- Results
cassP replied to Simona19's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
"he" as in your husband? having at least 1 DQ 2 gene doesnt mean he has it, but he does have the potential. many celiacs dont have any symptoms. if your husband is regularly ingesting gluten-> then it couldnt hurt at all to get a blood test! oh, actually- if your son has it- then all 1st degree relatives should absolutely get tested. -
what kind of "sick"?? i hope you figure it out... a lot of us have additional intolerances, maybe we can help.??
-
oh boy... ok, sometimes dairy doesnt bother me, and sometimes it does... i do ok with some cheese, usually ok with mozzarella-> but this one brand i got- i did NOT absorb at all!! sorry tmi. ricotta, cottage ch, butter are all fine for me. other cheeses are sometimes ok sometimes i can get away with milk/cream/ice cream-> but other times i get...

ps- id rather NOT have to take any synthroid. i hate pharmaceuticals. my mom is hypo, and lean. we're both lean, we dont have fast metabolisms at all, but we're mindful of what we eat & try to exercise. being gluten free and carb lite helps me keep my weight down. and also-> all the digestive ailments my family and i have had help us keep our portions...

i didnt communicate well i guess in that last post... my doc DID say i had Hypochlorhidia... so my stomach must have made the acid after the alkaline tablet.. but it just took too long. and maybe i didnt take HCI while my stomach was burning- but after about 2 weeks. i DID take digestive enzymes. i took GSE 3 x a day & some Ionized Silver for the H...

ARCHIVED Genetic Test- Results
cassP replied to Simona19's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
alrighty, hopefully a moderator or more knowledgeable member than me will chime in because i THINK i get it- BUT these gene numbers/language is very hard to translate. i THINK your son has 1 DQ gene: DQ 2.5 (which ive read is THEE most classic celiac gene) and then i THINK you have 2 DQ genes: DQ1 and DQ5 (they're not "classic" but new studies, including...
