you're Celiac, and you're going to ITALY for your honeymoon????? omg, lol... ok, so the bad news is- is that you cant eat any yummy pasta or pizza the good news->is that they know MUCH MORE about Celiac in Italy then they do here... they actually test every baby's genes, and then follow up with other tests- so im sure you can tell restaurants that you...
  3. Lucia!! it's been awhile.... are you feeling better? have you pinpointed what additional foods were bothering you?
  4. i read somewhere years ago, that it takes the liver 2 months to "catch up" to any lifestyle/dietary changes.... makes sense to me... maybe your body's just adjusting right now
  5. i dont do flu shots. even years before i ever had an opinion about vaccines, i never wanted to do a flu shot- my brother is the only one in my family to have gotten one- and he got sick from it. (just like the flu, nothing more serious). im not completely against vaccines, i just think there's too many, and they're filled with preservatives that can...

OMG YES- Very very common for us to have lactose intolerance &/or casein sensitivity. its possible for it to only be temporary too tho- you should eliminate dairy for a little while- so you're body can heal.... and maybe try to add it back in later. and dont freak out about cancer- its good to get a good check up and maybe even colonoscopy NOW-...
  7. Pea protein??? hmmm i did make Kinninnick cupcakes over a month ago... Pea protein was on the ingredient list i think... i had horrific sinus allergy attacks!!!! just awful... dont think any GI issues. later on i made Pamela's cupcakes (vanilla)... and had no issue at all idk... and yes- i too react to MSG. ive never even heard of Schar pasta. my favorite...
  8. they may not be dismissing your request... they may just want you to come in for an appointment so they can bill you. that's how most of my docs are. keep us posted- on your testing.. good luck
  9. that's a "weak" positive actually (in the ranges my doc had)- but it doesnt matter-> you could be deficient or low on Iga serum. plus there's other tests for celiac like stated above. if you feel better off gluten- then you're on to something. everything posted above is great advice. dont feel bad!!!
  10. yes. it's a good idea to get everything checked by your doc & gyno. i had an ultrasound at the time i was getting celiac tests... just because of all the bloating- my doc thought it would be a good idea- to just look over the reproductive system- make sure everything was ok. and it was- so its a good relief to just check everything and know you're ok...
  11. MSG hits me harder than gluten- but only in the short run. MSG bloats me up bigger than any of my intolerances- i easily look 4-5 months pregnant... but it doesnt affect my BM the next day or stay with me like gluten does. also, my reactions to gluten sometimes differ. and dont be surprised about additional intolerances.. most of us have them. it...
  12. i think i have DH right now and last year.... but before that- i would also get Psorasis & Excema while on a gluten filled diet. all 3 have been very itchy for me. maybe you should get that checked by your doctor... because i cant figure out what it might be if it's not itchy.. ???
  13. i just tried my first toasted slice of Rudi's last night YUMMM... there was a TINY part of me that thought i wanted less Xantham gum... but nah... it was pretty dang good!!! we dont have Udi's or Katz at my Whole Foods.. but want to try some day. YAY, i cant wait to make a sandwich now
  14. i dont think it would hurt to make probiotics a part of your daily routine forever. also, if you're still not feeling improvement-> you may want to eliminate grains for a bit,... just stick to whole foods like meats/fish, vegtables, fruit, maybe little rice. maybe eliminate dairy, and be very vigilant at restaurants- there can be a lot of hidden...
  15. i cant believe they were so nonchalant on the phone... and dismissive at first... geez
  16. NOOOO CrampyGirl.... dont get discouraged... it doesnt have to suck, we promise you!!! Skylark is absolutely right- you do NOT have to have Celiac to be seriously ill from gluten... gluten has been linked to way too many things, including Crohns, Colitis, GERD, etc, etc... you dont have to go on an Atkins diet or Paleo or Caveman to be gluten free...
  17. ps- and dont feel like you have to fit the mold of a classic celiac to order the test. i mostly suffered from "C" and other things i cant gross you out with(yes, worse than C or D). The "D" mostly came when i would eat dairy (while on a heavy gluten diet).
  18. yes! go ask for a test SOON while you're still eating gluten. DONT WORRY about crying wolf... or stating your case- this is YOUR LIFE and YOUR health- i already knew i had a problem with wheat- some digestive & skin stuff. after a friend told me about it and her BM symptoms- i thought- WOW this is something i need to rule out before i go off wheat...
  19. oh ok, i understand- your sister wants you to get it, so that you dont unknowingly pass Pertussis to your neice. i get that. i DID recently read an article that the recent pertussis outbreaks are due to NEW strains of Pertussis that are resistant to the current vaccine. (kind of like The Swine Flu wasnt prevented with a regular seasonal flu vaccine.) i...
  20. i had heard that the instant coffee had traces of gluten..??
  21. make sure you are checking in with your doc- and see if you need testing for any other autoimmune diseases... just make sure your doc is ruling out anything serious. other than that- you may have to figure out if you're getting any hidden gluten, or if you need to eliminate any other foods. ps- is 5-6 times a day a lot????? i pee every hour or 2 ...
  22. the biggest proof you need is how you feel on the diet. you absolutely have to have the genes there to have the disease. BUT there's like 27 genes possibly involved!!! most docs here ONLY test for the "classic" DQ2 and DQ8. but there's more, AND there's members on here with Celiac and different DQ genes. i did a genetic test through Enterolab. they...
  23. i dont know enough about it, and i think for the first time i have some on my stomach. from other posts ive seen on here- i THINK it's possible to still have the DH for some time even after going gluten free- is that true??
  24. i am THE SAME WAY- once i have an experience like that- it takes me about 6-8 months to come back to that particular food item
  25. well, im not your doctor. and most docs think that ONLY DQ2 and DQ8 are Celiac genes... but DQ6 is another one that is a POSSIBILITY.. plus you have the DQ2. anyways- again, i ONLY know that your genes make it possible. the REAL proof for you- is how you feel Gluten Free- our poor medical community- they just dont know how to deal with this do they?...
