  1. your medscape link didnt work??? or maybe it's just my computer??? i wanted to see what you were talking about on your fingernails. i have ridges on my thumbnails... and horizontal cracks on my fingerprints- both of which are linked to gluten sensitivity and celiac i havent read all your posts... but even if you dont have Celiac- there are several resources...
  2. it depends on if you're the kind of person who needs an Official Dx.... if you do- i would get to a different GI ASAP, stay on the gluten & get the endoscopy.... if you dont need the dx, then go off the gluten now.... that's a hard decision- and up to every individual... anyways- my intestinal issues improve 95% with 2-4 weeks of going gluten free...
  3. i hear ya- it's very confusing- and i think you're right when you theorize about our body's going into hyperdrive with our immune system- i think with an autoimmune disease like Celiac, you're body can just be hypervigilant sometimes-> it's weird, because SOMETIMES i have digestive reactions OR allergic reactions to different foods and sometimes i do...
  4. i have not heard of it.... but im sure it's a possible environmental trigger to someone genetically predisposed to Celiac or Gluten Intolerance..
  5. yes! give it time! my gut issues take about 3 weeks to improve- but i think the gut may heal faster than the nerves, brain, and skin...
  6. oooo- thankyou so much- i was JUST asking my sis the other day if it was even possible to make a cupcake casein free and taste good. & thanks for your suggestion-> ive been trying to make a gluten-free vanilla cupcake from scratch, last night i had to throw a whole batch away because i used too much Xantham gum, and i dont know WHAT i did with the...
  7. very interesting, thanks for all the links. i believe it all... and i definitely believe in the widespread damage from gluten! and we're all different- right? gluten is going to express itself in different areas for all of us-> i dont doubt that at all.
  8. i havent been officially diagnosed because my health insurance wouldn't cover the endoscopy. i personally, after looking over ALL my tests & symptoms & genes- think it would be absolutely stupid to go back on a diet with gluten. plus, i think i have my first experience with a patch of DH on my stomach. i'm going to see my GI tomorrow- to go...

    ARCHIVED Dim Sum

please just be really careful & triple check everything- because it's my understanding that most of those dumplings have wheat in the dough.
  10. not exactly sure what works for you- we're all different. i feel completely satiated on a LOW carb diet- i feel BEST when eating like that- my blood sugar is more leveled, once i add the carbs back in, i get more hungry and tired. Anyways- i agree with above poster- you have to have fat in your diet- your body needs fat! seriously, GOOD fats- good fats...
  11. hey- i just saw this via twitter: Open Original Shared Link ive heard Celiac linked with Lymphoma before- but i wanted to know if any of you knowledgeable members or Moderaters could clarify for me: is it only linked to a "slight increased risk" of Intestinal Lymphoma .. or ALL Lymphomas?? im curious, because i want my Dad to get tested for Celiac...
  12. ive heard that before- is it really that inaccurate?? if so, i'd love to pick it up just for a laugh
  13. COMPLETELY normal- while you're still on gluten! once i went gluten free- it took me almost 3-4 weeks to not bloat after every meal!!!
  14. hey Carolina- whenever you read stuff on Fructose malabsorption- they also say that each individual kind of has find out by trial or error how much fructose or what type of food containing fructose they can eat. it is so true! my friend who has FM cannot eat lettuce at all. i only experience problems with lettuce SOMETIMES. i have much better experiences...
  15. oh i was not aware or 100% sure that the companies always had to specifically declare it in an ingredient or allergen list. i just assumed since the industry is kind of slow to catching on- maybe they wouldnt always specify the origins to an ingredient. i was naturally suspicious- because they dont always cite if an ingredient is from corn or wheat right...
  16. thanks skylark, i understand. and ravenwood- i think what skylark was saying- what i understand is that the same antibody levels in the mucosal lining may not rise to a noticeable amount in everyone's blood.... makes sense now- otherwise we would ALL have DH.. and we would ALL have noticeable positive amounts in the blood. but of course it does wreak...
  17. is that different than the regular Antigliadin Iga test??? is it just a newer better evolved version of it?
  18. you need to get a better doctor- and get properly tested for Celiac NOW- i mean now- because i think you should get back on the gluten for a more accurated test- and then as soon as the test is done, go off it. unless you're fine with no diagnosis-> then get your book, and go gluten free now.... i had a client who was on and off prednisone for a decade...
  19. you mentioned something about having a virus or an infection??? and dragging your feet??? i have a good friend who they THINK has Reiter's Syndrome. they were baffled and now have it narrowed down to 2 diseases. it's a strange arthritis that happens after a virus or infection. and you've said that you were negative on the MS, right? ive learned a lot...
  20. thankyou for all the baking tips
  21. wow- thanks dave for all the great info! im glad so many members here can help! i wish the food industry would label everything better- i dont expect them to make everything gluten free for us- JUST list ALL the allergens. yesterday i got a frozen hot chocolate at a book store (even tho dairy is not my best friend) & she asked if i wanted whip...
  22. ok, i dont have all the answers for you- but im worried. please take a moment and breathe- and know this depression does not last forever. i know all about depression and anxiety and just feeling like you're spiraling and spiraling even deeper into it. you're not alone, and it wont last forever. ok, 1st- you're having a test on monday? but you've been...
  23. kareng- thanks for the link bincongo: concerning what your daughter heard- keep in mind that a recent study suggest only 1 in 6 Celiacs actually express gut symptoms. i, personally think everyone in your family should at least have blood panels done. just because you have it, doesnt mean you have to be alarmed and think everyone in your family has it-...
  24. what is "the newer DGP test" ???
