  1. ya, my ttg was only 6, i think... im iga deficient, but my ttg igg was low too. and also, i cannot answer knowledgeably as to why the labs all have different cut offs- but i CAN tell you that my PCP, and GI tested me- and both those lab result cut offs had my "6" at a "weak positive" luckily, my PCP ordered the EMA. i dont know why my GI didnt do that...
  2. WHAT?????!!!!!! so, you're a diagnosed Celiac- and your GP thought that had NOTHING to do with Ibs, depression, or brain fog?????? Good LORD... i really should become a doc OY VEY i understand wanting answers. i would avoid the big culprits like pears, dates, prunes for now just to be happy... also- if you're fatigued- you may want to test for thyroid...
  3. i would have her ask for all the tests ( i THINK they only took 2 vials from me): total iga serum Tissue Transglutamas Iga & Igg Antigliadin Iga & Igg Endomysial Antibodies. order them all- she's pregnant and she needs as many answers as possible right now. and then after testing- maybe she should go gluten free- as long as it doesnt stress...
  4. ya, it's just such a complicated disease to understand- even for those of us who are educated-> because it effects everyone so differently. im not one of those celiacs who ends up running to the bathroom with "D" when cross contaminated- but i still have to understand it can do that to others AND i still have to be vigilant for myself anyways- because...
  5. thankyou for the suggestion.. i have heard that before. im already so prone to having all of my good bacteria "compromised" that i ALREADY take probiotics every day. im sure i could be more vigilant while on antibiotics.. but unless im in the hospital or am at risk for a SERIOUS infection-> then i stick to either Ionized Silver or Grapefruit Seed Extract...
  6. oh wow... i never thought that fructose malabsorption could be linked to anxiety ?? i was only aware of the DEBILHITATING "LABOR LIKE" doubled over PAINFUL CRAMPING hmmm & u mention your health care system and waiting for an intolerance test... i never had one- i diagnosed myself. of course i understand wanting the answers.. i was like that...
  7. i agree with everything above- also- have you had a colonoscopy too? just to rule out anything in addition to the celiac... i had one done- and it was a relief to know that i didnt have anything else like diverticulitis. PLUS- if you have any polyps- benign or otherwise- they remove them right there on the scene. plus- you DID suffer thru 6 years of...
  8. POSSIBLE Lyme Disease??? will they test and get results soon? cause if you dont have it- then you dont need medicine right? i have a client who had a tick bite- and i dont think he got Lyme Disease- but his doc put him on HEAVY antibiotics just in case... the antibiotics triggered his Psoriatic Arthritis. but i think he was on something heavier than amoxicyllin...
  9. ya- i think they're yummy toasted! w/ cream cheese
  10. with your hair falling out- and a family member with celiac- you should get your thyroid hormones checked out by your doc! thyroid issues are common with gluten intolerance- and can cause your hair to fall out. i too will lose a lot of weight if i'm not eating any complex carbs.... but adding rice or rice pasta to my daily diet quickly keeps 5-10lbs on...
  11. LIEUTENANT DAN!!!?????!! Lol Endomysial Antibodies
  12. there was a recent scientific study that showed that Gluten had indeed showed up in human breast milk (if the mother was eating any gluten of course) 3 weeks seems to be too young to exhibit signs of Celiac- but then again- we hear of babies being intolerant of baby formula and having to switch to soy or something else. technically Celiac needs to be...
  13. wow... i usually agree with everything ravenwood says... your iga # is good- it just means that your immune system is working up to par. false negatives do happen yes... also you should get your EMA tested. my antigliadin was negative twice. my TTG was WEAK positive, but my EMA was positive. even then- if you still get negative numbers all around....
  14. oh, i'd like to add here- that when i was still on gluten, even if not much- i often had nights where i was in horrible abdominal distress that sometimes woke me up in the morning- and i would usually at this time have a nightmare like that show "i didnt know i was pregnant"... i would be in the hospital with LABOR PAINNN and think- but how and when did i...
  15. i think its a good idea you stay on the gluten - and get an endoscopy along with your colonoscopy. and make sure they take several biopsies in different areas of your small intestine... its good to check for everything else in the colonoscopy- while you're at it- so you can check off other possible worries. false negatives DO happen, and many on here...
  16. ya it was gross. i also think there is something to this overprocessed "frankenstein" food. i had a NIGHTMARISH episode the other day with High Maltose Corn Syrup!!! lots of debate over the internet over if it hurts celiacs or not.... but basically this one article said that the HMCS is "Relatively New" to human consumption- and that the effects on the human...
  17. its so frustrating how unhelpful doctors are ok- you need to be very careful when getting off antidepressants... you're "supposed to" consult your doc first cause of side effects. it can be very serious. that being said- i have taken myself off paxil twice. call me OCD- BUT- when i took myself off the paxil- i was slowly doing it every few days or every...
  18. you were at a restaurant- and was your meal gluten free??? its more likely IMHO that you either ingested gluten, dairy, MSG, or some kind of starch added to a dish... than had an issue with gelatin. for example- i was in quite a bit of abdominal stress after a gluten free meal at Pei Wei- and i narrowed it down to the Potato Starch that they coated the...
  19. i can only eat certain fruits cause of fructose malabsorption. BUT on top of that- i only fruits with certain foods... i would never eat fruit at the same meal with 3 eggs- im getting reflux just thinking about it ive heard too that fruit should be eaten before a meal, not during or after... because (except bananas)- fruit is designed to quickly pass...
  20. HILARIOUS!!!! i actually had my 1st nightmare the other night. i dreamt that i had ordered a california roll at a sushi restaurant. i felt comfortable cause i brought gluten free soy sauce with me.... but later i was 2nd guessing if it was REAL crab or IMITATION crab- cause i know they put wheat in some imitation crab... when i woke up- i thought back to...
  21. this seaweed is supposed to help your thyroid- Open Original Shared Link but if u have DH- it may aggravate it. if you dont have DH- i would totally try it out- it cant hurt, and may really help with your thyroid. if you develop a patch of DH, then discontinue it. also, you should avoid brussel sprouts, cabbage, and sometimes broccoli- as they...
  22. our emotional issues CAN have an effect on our digestive tract- but i am so tired of these docs diagnosing EVERYONE with "IBS".... i say 95% of the time- there is a cause that is NOT emotions. your ttg at 16 is high enough to suggest you are at least "gluten sensitive"... did the doc order any other tests? the ttg is just one test of many and like...
  23. omg! what's it like to "not like bread" ??????? whoa.. anyways- i called my PCP- and asked if i could get a copy of my celiac panel- i even asked what the charge would be... and she printed out 2 copies of both my tests and mailed them to me free. it was easy- they should be able to accomade u- especially if you're not in town. yes- you should be consuming...
  24. all of my random episodes of tachycardia, palpitation, & orthostatic hypotension have all disappeared since going gluten free. while i can speculate about cortisol levels since u stopped rhodiola... or what types of exercise is best for u-> the most important thing is that u get this all checked with your PCP, and a cardiologist.... just run all...
  25. i didnt read the study (im lazy). but i DO KNOW that there is so much controversy online over corn containing its own kind of gluten, corn intolerances for celiacs, and corn being completely safe. i just want to share with u guys, that while corn products sometimes bother me (with different reactions-> gut & sinus).... i had the WORST reaction...
