  1. ciamarie, Did you use the regular beaters or the whisk attachment. I want to use my old hand mixer to make the Pamela's bread. This mixer is so strong, I hated to use it for simple things like mashed potatoes because it would spew out everywhere. I just bought a new mixer so if I burn out the old one, I won't cry about it! I just wasn't sure which...
  2. I love Pamela's. I mostly use the Baking and Pancake mix. My husband likes the pancakes. I have also used it to make banana nut muffins and pumpkin, chocolate chip muffins,
  3. I use Carroll Shelby's Chili Kit which I buy at Safeway, but have seen any many stores. I called them a few years ago to make sure gluten-free and they told me it was. The kit comes with seasonings. The only ingredients are corn masa flour (I don't use this, but if you like thicker chili you might), ground chili peppers, salt, garlic, cumin, oregano, onion...
  4. Sylvia, we always had pecan pie for Thanksgiving when I was growing up. I used to eat the inside and throw the crust away. Cathey, thanks for the tip on the Wholefoods crust. Now I have 2 options. Update: Hubby liked the pie. He said the crust was good (and was a little surprised). He's already had 2 pieces. It's nice to have the option of a...
  5. I take Nature-throid (or West-throid) which is a dessicated thyroid med (also made from porcine). I started on Armour and switched a few years ago when Armour changed their formula. Also know that both Armour and Nature-throid meds are a combination of T3 and T4. I believe the synthetic is just T4. I'm not sure if there are any natural thyroid meds...
  6. So funny, but it actually sounds pretty good.
  7. I'm making my pies now and as I was filling them I wondered why I had filling left over. The pie crusts are 8", not 9". I've always used 9" pie shells. Oh well. Will let you know how the crusts turned out. I'm sure hubby will have a piece when he gets home from playing golf.
  8. I did a search on the boards looking for reviews on the Kinninnick pie crusts but haven't found anything. So, has anyone tried these? My hubby wants pumpkin pie and I told him I would make them. He was going to get the whole wheat crusts, but came back with the Kinninnick pie crusts. So sweet, but now I want to make sure the pies taste really good....
  9. NotMe - I did use frozen spinach. I thought it would be easier. Next time I will go for the fresh spinach. I pretty much went the easy way on all the ingredients except the parmigiana cheese. I bought good cheese and grated it myself. Kareng and Pricklypear - thanks so much for the strainer info. I will get one. As you can tell, I'm not the most...
  10. Kamma, you may want to call them. They are so nice there, I'm sure someone can help you. I feel like they gave me my life back in a way. A whole year of being dizzy every day and not being able to participate in anything was so hard for me.
  11. PricklyPear - I didn't know there was a difference between "fresh" and regular ricotta. I'll have to check out TJ's. CyperProf - Is there an easy way to squeeze the water out of the spinach? I used paper towels but was thinking there must be a better way. We're having this again tonight!
  12. We just got through eating and it was wonderful. My husband really liked the dumplings and so did I! I think he was surprised since there was no pasta in it. I only used a marinara sauce since I wanted to save on the fat and it was exceptional. I can't imagine how good it would be with the bechamel sauce too. Just sinful. Also, the ricotta cheese...
  13. Nope, I'd have to go for some sourdough or french bread.
  14. This sounds sooooo good. I just bought all the ingredients and am going to make it tonight. I'm going to try it with just the red sauce to save on fat and calories like a previous poster mentioned. Before I had to go gluten-free, one of my favorite meals was the spinach/cheese raviolis. I love anything with the spinach/cheese combo.
  15. Pegleg, for me my eyes were not able to see at the same point together. One eye seemed to see a little higher than the other. The prism sort of tricks the eyes to see at the same point together. I had gone to a neuro also for possible MS. I had many problems besides the dizziness. I had a stiff neck all the time and when I walked I felt like I leaned...
  16. As other posters have mentioned, there are many reasons for being dizzy. Mine turned out to be my eyes. My doctors thought it was neurological. I was dizzy for about a year. It started when I rolled over in bed onto my right side. This was called BPPV. Everything was spinning and was horrible. After that episode I had both vertigo and dizziness for about...
  17. I like Grapeseed oil and have been using it in place of Canola.
  18. I should add that I received that in an e-mail from a yahoo celiac group.
  19. There are a few support groups that I know of. One in Phoenix, one in I believe Gilbert and one in Fountain Hills. Here is some info on a meeting this Wednesday in Phoenix that you may want to attend. This month's program: **THE RESTAURANT TABLE** When: Sept 7, 2011, starting at 7pm Who: CDF: Greater Phoenix Chapter Members, Guests & Friends...
  20. The multi-vitamin I take is by Solgar. It's called Formula V VM-75. It says it's free of yeast, wheat, soy, gluten and dairy products and are formulated without the use of artificial preservatives, flavors or colors. I take the Iron free one because I am now menopausal. Some other brands of supplements I use are by Bluebonnet, Source Naturals and Vitamin...
  21. Here is some information you may want to show your doctor. It talks about the new ranges you were referring to. Hope this helps. Open Original Shared Link
  22. Ravenwood, I'm so sorry about the loss of your beloved Pooh. It is so hard to lose a good friend. As many people have already stated, there are all different kinds of friends. You have so many on this board alone. And, you have been a great friend to more people than you can imagine. It's not just the posters, but the lurkers too that have benefited...
  23. 1. I had many different issues dating back to at least my 20's (was dx'd with IBS then) 2. I had the following issues: UTI's, chronic sinusitis, allergies year round, anemia, gluten ataxia, migraines. There were probably more issues, but that's all I can think of right now. All of the above issues improved greatly after going gluten-free. I have...
  24. I don't know the Queen Creek area that well, but there is a gluten free store in Gilbert. It's called the Gluten Free Country Store. They also carry gluten-free baked goods from local gluten-free bakers. My favorite baked goods are by Julia - good cupcakes and cinnamon rolls. Their website is gfcountrystore.com if you want to check them out before driving...
  25. Yes, I am very sensitive to caffeine. I can't drink regular coffee (boo hoo)- it makes me too agitated, but do drink decaf. If I have a headache and take an Excedrin, I feel all revved up from the caffeine. Tylenol just doesn't work for me. What's odd is that I can eat chocolate. I don't eat a lot of it, but I have one piece of Dove chocolate almost...
