  1. Happy birthday and may God bless you today!

  2. Hi! I just recently spent a weekend in Baltimore. I had a wonderful meal at a Pub called Lucy's on Eutaw. It is across from the Hippodrome Theater. Other safe options include: PF Changs, Outback, Uno's (for pizza), Fogo de Chao, Roy's. The website Urban Spoon just added a Gluten Free Friendly restaurant search option. I recommend trying that as well.
  3. No, though I have put those smoothie drinks back for that same reason, too! It was a "greens" powder called Amazing Grass.
  4. I had problems with nut butters for about 1 year after going gluten free. I ate Soy Nut Butter instead. Now, I am completely fine with all nut butters (except Cashew... allergic). I guess it just took my body some time to heal and be able to digest the fats, etc....
  5. Okay... I always avoided them too. I would also imagine the risk of cross contamination would be quite high. How can a company print "Gluten Free" on their label if the product is not truly gluten free?! We need stricter labeling laws here in the US!
  6. I, too, love Samis millet and flax chips and bread. But, I have had periodic trouble with CC issues from the bread. I try to stay away from it now.
  7. I recently read a product label claiming to be gluten free yet it contained wheat grass and barley grass. The website claimed that most people who are allergic to wheat are allergic to the gluten. The Gluten is not found in the plant/grass part of wheat grass and barley grass. Is this true?
  8. Bread: I would recommend baking your own in a breadmaker or using a mix. The Gluten Free Pantry mix and Pamela's Mix are both good. For a premade bread, Kinnikinnick is the best. I also like Sami's Bakery Millet and Flax bread, but it is NOT made in a dedicated facility. I have only gotten sick once though. Crackers: I like Mary's Gone Crackers and Nature...
  9. They are still kind of hard to find. You might have to request that your local health food/grocery store stock them for you. If not, you can order them from kinnikinnick.com. The shipping rate is a flat fee. So, I would recommend ordering a bunch of things and stocking up. Good luck and happy hunting!
  10. I'm going to have to look for this mix! I definitely prefer making stuff at home vs. buying it. Thanks for the tip!
  11. I didn't find them as dense as the Josef crackers. I don't know if I would call them "flaky", but they were pretty darn close!
  12. I AM SOOOO EXCITED!!! Yesterday, I stumbled upon a little health food store in the middle of nowhere Michigan that carried Kinnikinnick Graham Crackers. They're called Smorables. I use to have two Graham Crackers dipped in milk every night for my dessert, pre-Gluten Free. I tried the Josef brand Graham Crackers, but they left a funny aftertaste, and just...
  13. I have an update on my sisters. My older sister and her husband have gone completely gluten free and have maintained the diet for 2 months now! They are both feeling great. My sister has started gaining some much needed weight and her husband has lost 15 pounds! I am so proud of them for finally taking a proactive approach to their health! Now, if my little...
  14. I know that my problems started after I contracted Cellulitis, and it started attacking my immune system. After that, I started having severe problems with gluten, dropped a ton of weight, etc.... But, other than developing a cashew allergy and becoming increasingly sensitive to cross contamination, I haven't developed any more problems. I hope you find the...
  15. OOHHHHH!!!! That lasagna sounds fabulous! Would you mind posting the recipe?
  16. The crust recipe sounds like the beginnings of a Lara Bar!
  17. I make a great chili using pumpkin instead of tomatoes! I know it sounds odd, but everyone, and I mean everyone, who has ever tried it loves it! Simply add a can of pumpkin puree and 2 cups of water in addition to your meat/beans/spices/ and allow to simmer about 20 minutes. Trust me, you will LOVE it!
  18. Hi everyone! I, too, am a Christian. I have gone through stages of anger at God for allowing me to suffer from Celiac Disease. However, he has used this awful disease to teach me so much. I have learned that I can not control everything in my life. I have to lean on Him and trust that He will take care of me no matter what. It took Celiac Disease for me to...
  19. Yes, CDB Southside is owned by the same person as CDB's. I ate at CDB Southside the time I went there. Enjoy!
  20. Hi! I am from Tampa so I hope I can be of some help. Tampa has the typical chains with gluten-free menus: Outback, Carrabas, Bonefish, PF Changs, Maggiano's (great gluten-free pasta!), Chipotle (a bit risky), and Chic-Fil-A (also a bit risky). There is also a local restaurant called CDB's. The owner has a Celiac family member and will be able to talk you...
  21. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Insalata Johnny Rocco! It is A-MAZING! The chicken soup is delicious too!
  22. Saute sliced peaches in a little butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon. Pour in some whiskey/rum or something like it that is gluten-free. Light it on fire. Allow to burn out then serve with vanilla ice cream. AMAZING!!!!
  23. YES!!! It's like night of the living dead for me. All I want to do when I get glutened is curl up in bed in a pitch black room and sleep forever. I also feel lethargic for the next day or two.
  24. They do have GREAT pizza! My husband and I bought one, cut it in half, and cooked it in a toaster oven backstage at the theater! (We travel with a touring broadway show for a living.) It was an awesome treat!
  25. My husband and I just ate there! We started with the gluten-free pita bread and baba ghanoush. Then we had paninis. His was regular and mine was gluten free. However, he ended up eating half of my sandwich claiming the gluten free bread was better than the regular! The portions were huge and the prices were very reasonable. We also stopped by the Flying Apron...
