  1. The exact same thing happened to me! I didn't have my period for years. Then, I went gluten free. Within a year, my period returned. And boy did it return! Oh well! I feel so much stronger and healthier now it is worth one week of discomfort every month.
  2. Okay Folks... I'm back! This time I will be traveling to Northridge, CA, Modesto, CA, San Bernardino, CA, and Palm Desert, CA. Any suggestions for safe places to eat would be GREATLY appreciated! Thanks!
  3. My cast and crew are amazing people! It's wonderful how they are always looking out for me. They are always telling me when they discover/see gluten free foods, etc.... I even get surprise gluten free gifts left on my bus seat (everything from gluten-free cheesecake to gluten-free pretzels)!
  4. I travel with a touring Broadway show for 8 months out of the year. Eating on the road is very difficult and monotonous for me. Last night, our company threw a Christmas party since we weren't able to go home for Christmas. I was so annoyed because I didn't think I would be able to eat anything. Boy was I wrong! Our props head was in charge of the catering...
  5. My family is just now, FINALLY, starting to "get it". It only took 2 years! HA! Now, when my husband and I come over, my mother either has me prepare the food, or email her a menu along with detailed recipes and instructions. She either buys disposable pans or uses her few safe ones. She also cleans off and designates the top shelf of the refrigerator for...
  6. Peanut Butter is a great high calorie food. There are also some AWESOME Coconut milk and soy ice creams out there. Kinnikinnick makes excellent gluten free/casein (dairy) free breads, bagels, muffins, cookies, pizza crusts, etc.... For cream cheese and sour cream, I recommend Tofutti brand substitutes. Soy yogurt is good with a Nana's cookie bar crumbled...
  7. I too was one of those "oh my gosh! Is she okay!" skinny people. I have been gluten free for 2 years now. It took about one year before I was able to put on any significant weight. I found that baking various muffins and freezing them helped me. That way, I could eat 2-3 muffins a day as snacks. They were readily available, calorie dense, and allergen free...
  8. I was gluten free/casein free for one year. After that, I gradually starting reincorporating dairy back into my diet. I used vegan shortening and margarine in my baking, Tofutti Better Thank Cream Cheese, and Tofutti Sour Cream. I also drank soy/rice/almond or hemp milk. I think Turtle Mountain is the brand that makes amazing Coconut Milk Ice Cream. Soy ice...
  9. Ummmm......... Auntie Anne's soft pretzals Condensed Cream of Chicken Soup (My favorite childhood recipe calls for this. I have yet to find a decent substitute.) Kashi cereals Light fluffy cinnamon rolls Spinach and Cheese Ravioli Veggie Egg Rolls Cressants (or however you spell it!) Ice cream cake ...I could keep going but I'm going to stop before...
  10. Ginger Kid here!
  11. Sami's Bakery products are awesome! I know they aren't made in a dedicated facility which makes them risky. However, I have only gotten sick from the bread once. I don't eat it often, only in a pinch. However, their millet and flax spinach pies are TO DIE FOR!!!! I can't wait to try the pizza crust.
  12. Hemp milk works well for baking as well!
  13. I think the salsa is fine now. I just ate at a Chili's where they provided me with a gluten-free "menu". The salsa was listed on it. Just FYI.
  14. Help! My husband and I have to attend a business dinner in Yakima, WA in January. Any suggestions for a "safe" restaurant near the Capitol Theatre? Thanks!
  15. Hello everyone! I am not from Washington. However, I will be traveling to Yakima, WA in January. My husband and I have to attend a business dinner. Any suggestions for a "safe" restaurant in the area, preferably close to the Capitol Theatre. Thanks!
  16. My husband and I have to go to a business dinner in Yakima, WA. Neither of us are from the area. However, we are being allowed to give restaurant suggestions. Does anyone know of any gluten free / gluten free friendly restaurants in the Yakima, WA area? Please! I am getting a little desperate!
  17. I travel 8 months out of the year. So, I understand what you're going through. I always have packets of tuna/salmon, microwaveable gluten-free soups, Thai Kitchen meals that only need hot water, gluten-free oatmeal (it can be cooked in the microwave, it just takes some time); rice cakes, bars, fruit, peanut butter, balsamic vinegar (great for salad dressing...
  18. I am currently visiting Fort Collins, CO and was thrilled to find a few Gluten-Free Friendly restaurants in the area. Sadly, Beau Jo's was closed for renovations. I was really looking forward to trying their gluten-free pizza. However, I found a place called Rustic Oven just up the street. They prepared me the BEST gluten-free pizza I have ever had! They...
  19. I had a similar situation. I basically quit eating because it hurt too much and I kept getting sick. I was down to eating nothing but fresh fruit and vegetables. My appetite vanished and I looked like a skeleton. The doctors all thought I was faking my symptoms in order to not eat. They all claimed I was anorexic, etc.... Eventually I found a wonderful doctor...
  20. Here is the link for the Movin' Out tour itinerary. I googled Troika Entertainment Movin' Out, clicked "show itineraries" and downloaded the Movin' Out schedule. (just in case this link doesn't work, that's how I found it) I hope you guys will get the chance to come see it. It's an AWESOME show! Open Original Shared Link
  21. When it comes to your health, you can never give to much info! Well, I take that back... but in your case, your response is perfect. It opens the door for a good dialogue. I hope you have fun!
  22. I am touring with the Troika Entertainment national tour of Billy Joel and Twyla Tharp's Movin' Out. We will be in Durham, NC next week for a few days. After that I forget! If anyone is interested, you can google Troika Entertainment Movin' Out and find our schedule online.
  23. Okay! I made it through my no good terrible very bad birthday. Thanks for all of your support. I travel 8 months out of the year with touring Broadway shows. It's fun, but eating can be a challenge. If I were at home it would have been fun and easy. I would have had a gluten-free b-day cake and fun time with my family and friends. However, I am in the middle...
  24. Me too! I thought I was the only one! hahaha
