ARCHIVED Intolerance To Corn Off The Cob Or Frozen...
Swimmr posted a topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Recently after months of not having corn, I had some grits at work one morning for breakfast. I didn't stay away from it on purpose, just didn't prepare it with dinner and stuff. I had grits for breakfast on a Friday. Saturday morning after breakfast, before my house warming shower I had THE worst D I have experienced in a very long time. I had awful cramping... -
Plastic tasting? Are you serious? The dark chocolate bar fooled a co-worker of mine and HAD to know where I got it from. Now the milk chocolate or the one with the krispies in it is disgusting.

Enjoy Life chocolate is allergen free! The dark chocolate bars or the chocolate chips...SOOOo much more yummier than Hershey's!

Canola oil I use for cooking. Butter I use Land o Lakes butter in the container that says it's made with Canola and there are like only three ingredients. I don't use the spread. I stay far far away from soy lecithin. Just for safety sakes. I did notice however that Bush's baked beans DID have soy in it and now it does not. I came across this one night...

ARCHIVED Finally Some Answers Coming Soon
Swimmr posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
It has been some time since I updated. As some of you know, I had a thread about my elimination diet. Good things there - I've maintained a weight of 135 lbs. I finally got the "ok" to go back to the gym this week. My ankle is healing very slowwwwly - had an MRI done and I've bruised the talus and tibia. There's extensive fluid still which is causing the... -
I bought a brand new bag of Namaste biscuits, pie crust & more. I had made some chocolate cake and threw away the wrong bag. I transferred the flour mix into a large zip lock... I want some cheesy biscuits tonight and I don't have the recipe from the back of the Namaste bag. I searched online for over an HOUR and with no luck. I found everything...

I was pitiful for the first three days when I couldn't put ANY weight on it what-so-ever. I would make dinner and have to stand in the kitchen to eat it because there was no way for me to operate the crutches and carry a plate of food at the same time...I tried with coffee and spilled it, so I said forget trying. LOL I scooted down the steps on my rear and...

Guys I am SO sorry...well, for anyone who cares anyways, lol! Since the last post things have been going well. I've been able to maintain my weight and was doing good until about 4 weeks ago. We had an ice storm and I decided to venture out two days later since the roads were nice and melted...however my front porch steps were NOT. I ended up slipping...

Ok...a LOT has gone one. Seems I can't stay out of the doctor's office. The last I reported I'd sprained my finger, ear and sinus infection, and a car accident. Well because of the ear infection I developed what is called Labrynthitis...it's a viral infection of the inner ear causing symptoms similar to vertigo. I had someone pick me up from work last...

Ok I know, I know...I haven't updated since the last post. Things are ok. Just have a lot going on. I badly sprained my thumb. Another ear infection. Sinus infection. and something other things I'm not at liberty to discuss...not because I can't, I just won't. Also got into a minor car accident the night before last. Like I said...

ARCHIVED Difference Between Seizures & Panic/anxiety Attacks
Swimmr replied to Swimmr's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Bump... I forgot I posted this. But thanks tarnalberry, for the advice. I suppose it would raise more of a concern if I explained "new" symptoms rather than the classic symptoms of a "normal" anxiety attack. I am planning to get an electrocardiogram done when I get back home and I'll also discuss the "new" symptoms. I will update as I get info... -
Yeah I have noticed a change in smell as well...much stronger Which is good. You're welcome...I'm always up for advice and other's experiences. UPDATE: I'm currently out of state in Missouri. I'm starving right now, lol. I had some of my MIL's home-made dirty rice last night for dinner. Jimmy Dean sausage (spicy), chicken gizzards...liver...

Alright, well that is a good thing. I plan to bring my bob's red mill baking mix so my husband's mother can incorporate that into some of the baking. The closest whole food's store is about 40 minutes away from where we will be staying. A drive, but worth it. While I will be eating some stuff not on my diet, I will be keeping it simple and not over doing...

ARCHIVED Difference Between Seizures & Panic/anxiety Attacks
Swimmr posted a topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I just want to know if anyone here can give me a clue. My docs I've seen look at me strange when I ask if my "attacks" are really seizures. My symptoms look just like a regular attack. However the pre-symptoms vary from attack to attack. Sometimes I get an immense pressure feeling behind my temples. Then I get lightheaded and things start closing in... -
ARCHIVED Neurogenic Celiac?
Swimmr replied to Sunshine-Lollipop's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I am in the same boat. I'm currently trying to work out finding a good family practice. With my military insurance I have to be referred to a specialist and they either have to be willing to let me if I want to...OR...listen to my concerns and feel I do have reason to go. I will let you know if I find out anything helpful. -
Oh awesome, I'm glad I have a follower How are you doing your diet? I'm interested. The chicken salad I made wasn't supposed to be eaten because of the mayonnaise, but it wasn't much and I ended up not having any problems from it. I'm still sticking with chicken, potato, banana, and rice...I might bring carrots back in for variety. I got so tired of them...

ARCHIVED Newbie Here - Hubby Recently Diagnosed
Swimmr replied to MindytheOrganist's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Good luck... Just to forewarn you, I react EVERY time I eat at Olive Garden. My last experience there when I had asked for a "plain grilled chicken breast with nothing on it" (my exact words) and it came to my table with seasoning on it and when I asked what it was, I was told that it was the basic seasoning...I asked for a manager. The manager told me... -
Oh man I miss pierogis!!! I will have to try these alternatives too!

ARCHIVED Need To Vent
Swimmr replied to A&Z'S MOM's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Good that it helped him realize something next time bring back-ups though I know you know, and I probably would have not done it either, just to prove my point. -
I'm so much better now...throat is still just a tad scratchy. Lots of loose phlegm, but that is good. I've finished my 'biotics and back on the diet. Just chicken, rice, eggs, banana, and potato for a few more days. I won't be adding anything else though. I took a bite of my husband's omelette this morning after making it...I did it without thinking about...

ARCHIVED Is This A Symptom For Celiacs?
Swimmr replied to Susy13's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
To answer your question, yes, I did! I had BAD cystic acne that started when I was 24/25. It wasn't like all over the place, but I'd get like three on my face and were so painful. I had DH on my back, all over the place (and had no idea at the time). I had all kinds of stomach ailments that I no longer experience...ever...now that I am gluten/wheat/some allergen... -
ARCHIVED Ate A Wheat Product
Swimmr replied to twe0708's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I think anyone on here would agree that while you not have any obvious symptoms, it doesn't mean it's NOT doing damage. I wouldn't test that theory though. It isn't worth it. I know there was another on here who'd willingly eaten something with wheat in it, but only had been gluten free for a couple of weeks. They noted that they didn't have any symptoms... -

Ditto Southern Comfort is my all-time favorite. That or Seagrams Gin (in the bumpy bottle) with some grapefruit juice
