thank you--that's good to know--my Kroger only has the wheat version. -
ARCHIVED Applegate Farms gluten-free Nuggets
minniejack replied to minniejack's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
thanks--I think I will order them. I haven't tried any of the others just based on what every one says. We are a very picky family of four and all of have to be gluten-free. I make my own, but you know sometimes you just crave something that is fastfood restaurant style. -
ARCHIVED I Thought Aunt Jemima Was Gluten-free.
minniejack replied to MySuicidalTurtle's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I've tried that with my DS who just turned 14. Didn't work. We've been using the dark Agave with not as much griping. He doesn't like the like pure Maple Syrup either. I bought Log Cabin the other day that is a little mislabeled saying now it doesn't contain high fructose corn syrup, but when you look at the ingredients, it still says corn syrup.... -
ARCHIVED Cream Of Celery Soup
minniejack replied to killernj13's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I used Healthy Valley cream of mushroom in a chicken and stuffing recipe and it was delicious. So I thought since it was so good that the cream of chicken just had to be good and went and ordered a whole case from Amazon. Big mistake. It was simply awful. Right now the remaining cans are in my car awaiting my delivery to charity. I even feel guilty... -
ARCHIVED Applegate Farms gluten-free Nuggets
minniejack posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Has anyone tried the Applegate Farms chicken nuggets yet? Any thoughts? I have to order a case (I'm waiting until next month when they will be on sale, but the price is still about $50 for a case of 12) and I don't want to eat something disgusting for the next several months. -
ARCHIVED Mainstream Gluten Free Snacks?
minniejack replied to Anya78's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
We always had to have healthy snacks in our school at the parties. We would provide little cups and fill with ranch dressing for carrots. Maybe you could also buy a big bag of gluten-free pretzels to provide the teachers for those just in case moments. For the parties, they could make the marshmallow rice bars using gluten-free rice cereal. They could... -
ARCHIVED Rustic Crust Pizza And Sauce
minniejack posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Has anyone tried Rustic Crust (gluten-free) Pizza or sauce? I'm planning on ordering some from my co-op, but I have to order a case and after the fiasco of the taquitos, I'm a little leery. -
ARCHIVED Hair Care Products
minniejack replied to buffandpuff's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
because once you become a label reader, then you read every label for everything and find out that everything is connected. Therefore, I've also been trying to avoid sulfates(ites) and parabens. The giovanni hair care line seems really good as does the Tru-Kid line (which I use myself) Sephora cosmetics is now marketing towards the organic consumer... -
ARCHIVED Dunkin Donuts
minniejack replied to Moongirl's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
My DD16 and I were just saying we would kill for a real donut! I don't think I could go into a Krispy Kreme or Dunkin Donuts because the smell would just kill me. I MISS DONUTS!!! (and the Kinnikinnicks are nice, but they aren't Krispy Kreme) -
ARCHIVED Alcohol
minniejack replied to JANMAZ's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I tend to stay away from the mixed drinks. Mixed drinks have caused me problems on at 3 occasions in recent memory. Not pretty. I've decided wine or gluten-free beer when available. -
ARCHIVED "gluten Free" Items That "got You"
minniejack replied to NorthernElf's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I've read that distilled spirits supposedly have the gluten distilled out, but mixed drinks have gotten me 2x. Once a couple of months ago on our 17th anniversary after the Melting Pot. Didn't even make it home--sooooo embarrassing--at least we live on a darkened street where there aren't any houses for 300 yds. I marked the Maple, as my daughter... -

If you are having problems with milk, try Kefir. It's a great product. As someone else said, in the beginning, it's a lot easier to eat the way we should be anyhow--whole foods. Just think of it like this: We all are now on the "French Women Don't Get Fat" diet. In that book, the French eat a lot of soup, drink a ton of water, and eat whole... -

do you guys think this brand is better than Schars? -
ARCHIVED Walmart Great Value Brand Moving Away From gluten-free
minniejack replied to JayinUT's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I posted this on another thread. Walmart in Cambridge Ohio had an entire aisle of gluten-free: glutino, enjoy, schars, etc. I called my 2 local Walmarts and they said they are trying to do the same and that certain Walmarts are test marketing gluten free sections. I'm sure this is the way that they are all heading so that they won't have their names... -
ARCHIVED Alexia Crunch Snacks
minniejack replied to MKat's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Just today, I saw those and we tried the cheddar cheese. Delicious. The perfect crunch and taste. Way better than a chip because it feels like you can nibble on the waffle chip. Will definitely buy these again. And the price was only $2 for a bag. Yummy. We had half the bag gone in the car! -
ARCHIVED "gluten Free" Items That "got You"

I've spent all weekend blaming my favorite restaurant for screwing up my salad. Well....last night, my daughter starting screaming at her brother, I know, nothing unusual right? But, she's screaming, "Mom these have wheat!" I asked her what had wheat--nothing in my house has wheat. They were the Baked Lay's. My son had a party over the weekend... -
ARCHIVED French Meadow Gluten Free Tortillas
minniejack replied to minniejack's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Maybe I should contact the company--maybe their shipment was the problem. When the products arrived, the icepack was definitely warm--not even frozen. The bread was crumbly no matter how you tried to make it not crumbly. And I couldn't even begin to wrap anything with the tortillas. They broke immediately. We've been gluten-free for a year and my... -

I just started my 14 yr old son, whose face cleared up somewhat since being gluten-free for almost one year, on the Rainbow light brand. It's only been one week and I just remarked minutes ago that his face already cleared up! He pretends to gag every time he takes one and complain about the smell. But I got a can of ginger out of the cupboard and showed... -
ARCHIVED French Meadow Gluten Free Tortillas
minniejack replied to minniejack's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I didn't like the brown rice thingys either. I just finished filling up some spring roll wrappers and we ate the "burritos" like that. 1 kid said, "Why didn't you just make a taco salad like usual?" The other complained that it wasn't Chinese in the wrap.... A mother never wins. -
ARCHIVED French Meadow Gluten Free Tortillas
minniejack posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I had such high hopes for having a tasty burrito made with these wraps. But I couldn't even fold the things without having them crack. I tried even soaking in a little water before adding filling and still cracking. Still too thick to be close to a wheat wrap, too. And the taste? Not close either. Oh, well. I've noticed I seem to be trying... -
ARCHIVED Nate's 3 Cheese Taquitos
minniejack replied to minniejack's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I used up 2 boxes by adding a ton of salsa and more cheese. A tad more palatable. But still not the quick snack that I had envisioned for an after school snack. -
ARCHIVED Warning Walmart Gv Product No Longer gluten-free!
minniejack replied to hipretty's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I think Walmart is just changing their labeling to better reflect this lawsuit happy society--they can then claim: "You were told on the label..." By the way, I was just at the Cambridge, Ohio Walmart and they have a huge section--half of an entire aisle with gluten-free: Glutino, Schar, Ener-G, etc. I came home and immediately contacted my local... -
ARCHIVED Nate's 3 Cheese Taquitos
minniejack posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I looked everywhere for some reviews on Nate's 3 Cheese Taquitos, but couldn't find any. So...I had to buy an entire box from my co-op. Aargh...Now we have to eat $50 worth of this crap to get rid of it. 4 gluten-free eaters and 2 non gluten-free teens thought these were gross and to give them to the dogs. One girl wouldn't even eat her 2nd one. We... -

Disclaimer: I do not work for Eat N Park We went to Eat N Park the other night because it was 8 pm and I was just too tired to cook. I ordered the 8 oz portion of fish. The waitress came out with only one filet because she knew we were hungry. She explained that the other filet had been placed alongside the rice that has gluten and had to be...
