  1. Recently had to waste some time because my "baby" just turned 16 and wanted to go to the teen club in the strip. Checked online and discovered the Firehouse Lounge had gluten-free offerings. I called and talked to someone and they assured me of several offerings that they had that were gluten-free. Well, you know how you get that inkling that the...
  2. Thought you all might like to know that on Tuesdays they have a gluten free special pizza and ANY gluten-free drinks (including beer/wine) for a cheap price--I can't remember exactly what that cost was, but it makes me want to try to get there on Tuesdays.
  3. Hi all. We just got back from a sunny fun-filled vaca. J Buffets Margaritaville has a great expanded gluten-free menu. Manager came to our table 2x to make sure everything okay. I was going to go to one of the Thai places mentioned earlier, but the snazzy ad in one of the guides lured me in to a place called Black Thai. NOT A GOOD CHOICE. The...
  4. Happy birthday and may God bless you today!

  5. If you all like food being thrown and rude obnoxious waiters, then Dick's is for you. I called for my DD. Basically sandwiches w/o the bread, not the marinated chicken. But you could get a chicken cesar salad w/o croutons and sub ranch dressing. (Barefoot Landing) Benjamins Original Calabash has a chicken platter marinated in a safe italian dressing...
  6. I just got the phone call from DD that she thinks she'll just be glutened all week. She just had to have a bite of the deep fried oreos at Barefoot Landing. She thinks she'll just be sick and bloated all week and eat whatever she wants. I told her if she gets back to me bloated and b%$@#y, then I'll ground her for the week between when she's home...
  7. Hey, my 15 yr old daughter just made it there about noon today (Sat) and we are heading there on the 25th. So far, I know that at Broadway at the Beach, you have Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville and Senor Frogs. When we were at Universal over Christmas, we spent most of our time at Margaritaville because it had great gluten-free food at very reasonable prices...
  8. I've had the flour and pancake mix for a few weeks now. The pancakes are really light and fluffy--like wheat ones. The fam and I can't decide whether we like them or Pamela's the best--they're both delish, but different from each other. We liked both better than Kinnikinnick. The flour: VERY soft. I like that it doesn't come with any gum in...
  9. Guar gum is a good binder and elsewhere on another thread someone mentioned using Chia seed gel as a binder, too for those of you who have trouble with the gums. Also, Domata Living Flour is a good cup for cup flour, it already has Xantham in it. I just ordered the Gluten Free Mama's Almond Flour blend, only because I am having problems with xantham-...
  10. There really wasn't any need for that insult. My local grocer has a huge gluten-free area. People who live close to a Whole Foods store in Pittsburgh travel to my area because my local Kroger has such a fantastic gluten-free section. However, there are still flours and things that are not availble. The grocery manager does order for you. He already...
  11. Were you by chance going to purchase the smoothie type drink, I think the brand is Bolthouse, Boathouse, something like that? Because I put the same product down too!
  12. Always hated McD's because it made me so sick--didn't realize it was the evil bun. Now, I willingly go there with my kids and am never sick. I consider their fries safe. Actually, it's the only place out that I will consider eating fries.
  13. Even though my local Kroger store is fantastic, I'm still like you and missing some of the special flours. I've resorted to ordering everything through Amazon, Kinnikinnick or maybe you could find out if there is a United Foods Co-op that would deliver your needed flour.
  14. Has anyone out there tried gluten free mama's almond or coconut flour? I'm thinking about ordering some for myself for a late mother's day present for me. I saw on someone's blog that they were both pretty good, but just wondered if anyone else used it. Appreciate any pros or cons.
  15. My 25 yr old nephew said he walked into cheddars about 2 months ago and they offered him a gluten free menu. Only because of me did he know what they were talking about. After he left, I immediately called there, sat on hold for over 10 minutes waiting for the woman to find out if they were or not. She came back on the line and I'm still not sure if...
  16. Geesh I'm quoting myself. About the Schar. FINALLY, FINALLY, a bread that I like. I've tried any and all out there and made my own and this is the closest to MY favorite, tasteless, bread called Wonder Bread: Schar. DH bought the premade kind--slices were a little thick, so I just cut into and ate a sandwich for the 1st time in months with bread...
  17. I've tried about all of the premixed and homemade breads out there (Pamelas gluten-free Pantry, Anna's 2 kinds of Kinnikinnick, French Meadow, etc.), but none can compare to me and my 15 yr old daughter's favorite, yes, you know, the tasteless WONDER BREAD. Until Now. We discovered Schar, Europe's #1 selling gluten-free. Really, really, good stuff. No...
  18. Want to add that my hubby and I went to Eat N Park yesterday and they now are serving gluten-free rolls and brownies. We tried the rolls yesterday, pretty delicious. Now, we have some place to go that we can have a hamburger on a bun. Today my daughter and I went again and tried the brownies--very good. They only charged $1.19 for one. Kudos...
  19. Was trying to get out of cleaning the house and spending way too much time online and somehow I learned of Schar products. From the Schar website I learned there is a pharmacy that is about 30 minutes from Wheeling in Weirton and thought I'd make a trip up tomorrow and buy one of everything before I bought in bulk from Amazon or UNFI. Well, thinking...
  20. I was scared to go, but today I went to Red Lobster and the food was fantastic. Nothing was glutened. I had talked to the manager a few weeks ago and he told me their dressings were all Marzettis. All I had to do was inform the server no biscuits and no croutons. She double checked on the scampi, but all was great. For once I let the server handle it...
  21. If anyone out there didn't already know it Eat'N Park has a pretty decent gluten-free menu. For our area, though it has a lot of restaurant choices, there aren't too many that really take the time to be gluten-free. This restaurant goes out of its way to make sure that their customers aren't glutened--we haven't had one bit of problem. And there...
  22. Hi, I know its past Valentines by about a week. Sorry I missed your message. Happy belated B-day to your DH. We loved Pizza Fusion. My DS13 said it was the best Pizza he ever had in his life. I'm glad to know that the Uno's is gluten-free. Thanks Mamaw. I had written Uno's corporate and was sent a list of states that had gluten-free menus...
  23. Finally, a quick, easy dinner roll that actually tastes and has the consistency of a real roll. 123GlutenFree Aarons Dinner Rolls. These rolls are absolutely delicious. My family and I are the Wonder Bread crowd and loved our rolls--any type of bread was our thing. Being gluten-free has been difficult without a good dinner roll with soup or at holiday meals...
