ARCHIVED Vigo Products?
sparkles posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I have been using the Arborio Rice from them (Vigo) as the only ingredients listed is the rice and it is really good...It doesn't get mushy like other brands that I have tried...BUT with all this talk of cross contamination, I was wondering if this is a concern here. I have had mini symptoms for a while and am trying to figure out where the CC is coming... -
ARCHIVED Just Need To Vent And Complain A Little About Inconsiderate, Intolerant And ......
sparkles replied to sparkles's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Thanks for letting me vent.... I do need to be my own advocate but sometimes, it is harder with relatives than with friends. Next time, I will just bring my own food and not say anything. Thanks!!!!! By the way, the other daughter-in-law has the Delphi list and the list of safe foods from here to have on hand when she is cooking. She even orders from... -
ARCHIVED Lunch Ideas Needed...
sparkles replied to Tony'sMom's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I think it is Ziplock that makes a divided container sort of like the containers that lunchables are in and make your child his own lunchable. Hormel makes a gluten-free turkey pepperoni....add some gluten-free crackers and cheese and your child has his very own lunchable. Be sure to add some kind of treat and some fruit. My kids always liked the lunchables... -

OK, so I am the wicked stepmother from H.... but I am tired of going to my stepson's house for dinner and not being able to eat anything. Since we were going to their house on Saturday to celebrate a family birthday, I told "Susie" (stepson's wife) I would bring my own meat to BBQ and asked if I could bring something that I knew was not filled with gluten... -
ARCHIVED Need Some Help W/ My Wedding Reception Menu
sparkles replied to LaLaLainie's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
It would appear that there are a lot of things on your buffet menu that are gluten-free... but there is always the chance of cross contamination. You should be congratulated for caring about your guests. Most of us do not experience that kind of care and concern. Good luck...and have a fun and beautiful day!!!! -
Lots of great advice out there.... what really stood out in the original post was the word "INCONVENIENT". For me, it has always been more INCONVENIENT to have explosive D when I get gluttened. I am sorry that your family has not been more supportive...cooking 2 meals would really be hard...especially since just having the gluten stuff in the kitchen has...

ARCHIVED Anybody Up Late Tonight? Please Help!

Just a note on the mono diagnosis.... When I had mono (many years ago now), I was very sick and had my parents not traveled several 100 miles to get me and promise the doc that there would be someone home to take care of me and they would continue to monitor certain body functions (liver, I think), I would have ended up in the hospital. As it was, I was... -
ARCHIVED I'm Back -- Osteopenia Is Reason Enough!
sparkles replied to moonunit's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
If there is too much damage to the villa, the B12 shot will be necessary (for the rest of your life) though it seems the other B vitamins can be absorbed. -
I am diabetic and a celiac and my insurance did NOT cover it.... guess preventive care is a real NO NO in the insurance world. that doesn't make a bit of sense to me!!!!

ARCHIVED Tylenol Pm
sparkles replied to majicbunnies's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I checked it out on Clan Thompson Drug List and there were some Tylenol products listed as gluten-free but not Tylenol PM. You might need to check with Co. -
I have seen two dieticians. I saw the first one right after diagnosis and all she gave me was the same articles that I had already copied off the internet. I saw the 2nd dietician about a year ago. I have diabetis and wanted some suggestions as to how to handle the two diets together. Before I made the appointment, I called her and asked what she knew...

ARCHIVED Anybody Up Late Tonight? Please Help!
sparkles replied to azmom3's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I am sorry for all the trials that you are going through. There is nothing harder than having a sick baby! Sometimes we just have to go with our gut instinct. If you think that it is celiac disease, than a gluten free diet is the only answer. We really have control over that. We don't need a prescription nor do we need our doctor's approval to start... -
Thanks for the input.... sometimes I feel like a real Newbie. I guess we all go through times when it just gets overwhelming. It seems to happen a lot lately...probably because I am not feeling well. I really got glutened this weekend. Sometimes I forget how sick I really was BGGF (Before Going gluten-free). Like some of you, my villa was almost non...

So that means that these companies list WRBO on label. Do they also list if products are made on designated lines? It will be very useful to me to have this list with me when I go to the grocery store. I appreciate you taking the time to list these brands. Even though I have been dealing with this issue since June of 2002, it still gets overwhelming at...

Okay, I have been reading labels again....and again.... I am noticing more companies that label wheat, like Kraft, Hormel, Conagra....etc....BUT my question is, when there is no wheat on the label, are we guaranteed that the product is really gluten-free? I noticed that on the Turkey Pepperoni, Hormel labeled it gluten-free. Yet on their roasts, they label...

ARCHIVED Since Going Gluten Free What Is Better In Your Life?
sparkles replied to a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I can eat chocolate and not get a migraine since going gluten-free. AND I don't have to check for the plunger when using a friend's bathroom....that was so embarrassing!!!!!!! I hated never knowing when that would be a necessity!!!! -
ARCHIVED Hay Rides?
sparkles replied to Smunkeemom's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
It has to be in the air.... I never thought about hay rides as causing problems. We go on a hay wagon to pick out our pumpkin. I guess I will have to think about that .... I will be interested in other comments. I guess celiac disease could be a real bummer if you were a farmer, dairy farmer, or owned a horse!!!!! It really could affect your livelihood... -

sparkles replied to sparkles's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Thank you so much. This was the thread I was looking for. I can never find anything..... but THANK YOU so much. I will make sure that I print the information this time and give it to her. -
does anyone out there know what kind of tests should be run by doc on an annual basis? I see an Internal Medicine doc and it seems like I know more about the disease than she does. What kind of tests should be run to make sure that celiac disease is in check? At one time, I found a list of blood tests, etc. that should be run but "lost" it somewhere in...

ARCHIVED Does Anyone On Here Forget That They Have celiac disease Most Of The Time?
sparkles replied to em2005's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
AMEN! I don't resent having celiac disease....I just know that it takes longer at the grocery store. Actually, I shop more like the Europeans do by going to the store several times a week to get fresh foods and read labels. My husband and I rather enjoy the time together plus it doesn't take so long to put the groceries away! I don't think that it is... -
ARCHIVED Not Really Understanding Some Things About This Diet...
sparkles replied to Chrisser's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Sometimes it takes a while before you start to feel better....but I would say that maybe you are still getting glutened. It is really hard to eliminate all gluten from your life at the very beginning because gluten is in so many other products besides just food. I got sick from cooking food in an old cast iron skillet. It had fried many coated foods in... -
ARCHIVED Epilepsy, Seizures, And celiac disease
sparkles posted a topic in Related Issues & Disorders
My daughter has seizures and someone had posted on one of these boards an address that took me to an article about seizures (epilepsy) and celiac disease. I had put it at the bottom of my computer but being rather computer STUPID (as you can probably tell from what I am writing), I deleted it. I really would like to find that message/article again as my... -
ARCHIVED Pins And Needles
sparkles replied to covsooze's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I have peripheral neuropathy caused from diabetis and dietary neuropathy due to my body's inability to absorb the B complex vitamins (certainly related to celiac disease). The pins and needles are a symptom of the neuropathy....hands, arms, feet, legs, and even my TONGUE are affected. I have been doing some research on the web about neuropathy and it seems...
