ARCHIVED This Is Getting Ridiculous!
Leper Messiah replied to bartfull's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Feel exactly the same, every time you feel like you get to the top of the mountain, something pushes you back down. I have corn issues too, it's in everything that gluten isn't it appears, i.e multi vits etc. And of course the "gluten free" section of my supermarket is 95% stuff with either soy, corn or dairy, all of which add to the fatigue for me. ... -
ARCHIVED Celiacs And Non-Celiacs, Recipe For Disaster?
Leper Messiah replied to Leper Messiah's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Cheers guys, replies much appreciated. I think I've came to a bit of a compromise with my flat-mate. I've offered to do his dishes as I'm sure the kitchen area was severley glutened when he was washing up etc. I offered to do his cooking too but he declined although I hope to eventually do this too - this means risk is greatly reduced as I know if I touch... -
ARCHIVED Celiacs And Non-Celiacs, Recipe For Disaster?
Leper Messiah replied to Leper Messiah's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Yeah I think this is where the issue is to be honest, he touches everything with his gluten-y hands. But as he pays rent I'm in a bit of a quandary, he is very supportive, I just think if I push it he'll be off. Hmm things to consider, I guess I could move some food etc to my bedroom and maybe prep / eat there. How often do you guys change sponges... -
ARCHIVED Celiacs And Non-Celiacs, Recipe For Disaster?
Leper Messiah posted a topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I live with a flatmate who eats a ton of gluten-y things. I have a separate cupboard, cutlery, plates, shelf in the fridge, kitchen top area to prepare my food. I'm as meticulous as I can be (I'm not perfect but I can't think of much anyone else could do to avoid it). Still I seem to get hit again and again, it's proving almost impossible to avoid... -
ARCHIVED Can Someone Explain Why I Feel Sick More Often?
Leper Messiah replied to Schatz's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I have a similar clinical presentation as you Schatz. As soon as I've gone off gluten, it's much more difficult to stay off it seems - I think richard's comment on hypersensitivity is the most logical and robust argument, albeit just another smack in the teeth of course. I seem to get glutened by the minutest bit of cross contamination and for me this... -
ARCHIVED Good Quality Multi Vits
Leper Messiah replied to Leper Messiah's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Quite interested in these:- Open Original Shared Link Anyone tried? Seems a decent concept although I would have thought these would be a lot more expensive as a result. Seem reasonable given that some of the vitamins come from fruit which is obviously expensive. -
ARCHIVED Good Quality Multi Vits
Leper Messiah replied to Leper Messiah's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Doesn't appear to be corn free unfortunately -
I found out after taking vit c tablets and multi vits (off the shelf supermarket ones) that I wasn't quite right. Seems it was the corn that was causing me issues. However given my dietary limitations and of course the damage to my poor stomach/intestines I think I need a good quality multi vit at the very least. Anyone got a recommendation? I am very...

ARCHIVED How Long Does It Last When You Get "glutened"?
Leper Messiah replied to livelifelarge24's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Agree with oceangirl, at least a week, probably two, although everyone is different. I tell you a good thing to do which never occurred to me but am glad I did:- write a daily diary of how you feel. I think my mean length of being nailed was 15 days but it was fascinating reading it back, it meant the next time I knew what to expect and also when I lost... -
ARCHIVED Being Uber Sensitive
Leper Messiah replied to Leper Messiah's topic in Super Sensitive People
As bad as this sounds you're very lucky your husband has it too, not that I would wish this on anyone but I'm sure you know that it'll make life for you a LOT easier. And also from an understanding point of view, maybe you don't have to drive your point across and feel like a grade A nag now like I'm sure every celiac feels, I certainly do and it's only... -
ARCHIVED Being Uber Sensitive
Leper Messiah replied to Leper Messiah's topic in Super Sensitive People
Microwave rice, gluten free muffins which I eat cold and use the packaging to hold to prevent any CC, rice milk and gluten free bread which I use to make sandwiches (I don't use butter or margarine, just normally ham slices straight on the bread), on top of most things I use gluten free salad cream so at least I have one iota of taste. I also eat a lot of... -
ARCHIVED Being Uber Sensitive
Leper Messiah replied to Leper Messiah's topic in Super Sensitive People
Thanks for the replies, very helpful. Quick question for folk still reading this thread, does anyone have hardly any gastro symptoms (i.e. I can feel a slight tingle in my stomach to know it's not ok but other than that none)? My main symptoms are tiredness, extreme tiredness. Anyone have that and how does it progress, i.e. does it get better the longer... -
Trying, for the first time, to get a few months or so, even a few weeks to be honest, of being gluten free but am really struggling....keep getting CC'd. I must be uber sensitive or is that the norm? How do people cope and does it get better if you can get a long time without getting glutened??? Very confused and annoyed, I mean I try really hard...

Cheers for the replies, I will look into all your suggestions and give you some feedback Quite excited about it really...strangely

Hi, Trying to gluten free, dairy free and avoid high lectin foods as all these seem to be causing issues. Any ideas on staple foods I can eat all I want of? Tried fruit but that seriously messed with my stomach (i.e. just fruit, it's fine if I eat with other things). *sigh* if only there was a safe nutrition pill or something that I can just eat...

ARCHIVED Just Feeling The Need To Vent...and A Couple Questions!
Leper Messiah replied to tmf315's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Probably because your adrenals are tired and just can't keep up with your increased cortisol needs due to the chronic inflammation caused by gluten on top of lifes daily stressors. Only way to take strain off is to try and stay off the gluten for a prolonged period to allow them to heal. Adrenal glandulars might help too. -
Grr, I've been trying to follow this by the letter but once a week, every week for the past 3 weeks, I get glutened. Today was the day I got glutened again. Every week I try to find the culprit but beginning to think it might be CC - before I blamed Peperami and then Orangina (which I'm not so sure about) but this time for sure I didn't eat anything knowingly...

ARCHIVED Best gluten-free Places To Go - Usa
Leper Messiah posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I'm coming to the US for 3 weeks in June. Going to Los Angeles, Las Vegas, San Diego and Lake Havasu. Anyone know best places to visit to shop for gluten-free food? Or restaurants if you know any? -
You are not alone this is my number 1 issue - lack of energy. It used to be lack of energy + brain fog but since I've left gluten, dairy and eggs the brain fog seems to have relapsed somewhat. I have a theory on lack of energy in celiacs, feel free to pick holes in it:- Celiac disease destroys villi meaning surface area to scoop up nutrients such as...

Just wondering if foods which you are intolerant to can cause the same damage as gluten to your villi/small intestine. I.e. say you went gluten-free for 6 months but at times had food which you reacted to. Would this damage your villi in the same way as gluten? Or would it just be symptoms that you had to worry about?

ARCHIVED Eating Like A Horse!
Leper Messiah replied to The Glutenator's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I'm always starving. I've got weak adrenals too so it's like a constant worry where my next gluten-free meal is coming from. I need to plan my meals better. Hunger was easing a bit on the gluten-free diet but after a glutening it goes back into overdrive. -
ARCHIVED Anyone Intolerant To Rice?
Leper Messiah replied to Leper Messiah's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I'll give it a go with white rice instead, cheers. Only reason I use the prepackaged food is that its nice and easy but you're right, I'll need to do more homecooked rice. -
ARCHIVED How Long Are You Binned After A Glutening?
Leper Messiah replied to Leper Messiah's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
How long you been gluten-free i-geek? -
Trying to work out what has halted the progress I made while initially going gluten-free. I suspect rice although I have been combining this with a tin of tuna (w/ sunflower oil) for an easy meal. For info it's the pre-cooked rice that you heat up in the microwave. It may be cross contamination but just want to gauge general tolerance to rice on the...

ARCHIVED Allergy Shots For Gluten Intolerance?
Leper Messiah replied to Black Sheep's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hi Skippy, welcome to the board. Your problems sound very similar to mine. You'll find plenty of help and answers from the wonderful ppl here. Make sure you tell the doctors the allergy shots are not working and get him to run celiac tests, don't be fazed if the bloodwork comes back negative but make sure you ask for a biopsy to confirm. If both come...
