ARCHIVED What Can You Tell Me About Bread Makers?
mamaw replied to River Faerie's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I love my Zojurushi.. It has two paddles & makes the normal loaf of bread. Heavy duty motor. Many cheaper versions will burn out over use because gluten-free bread needs a strong motor. I've had my Zo for five years & its still kicking strong....I know otheres like the Breadman which isn't as pricey -

ARCHIVED New Here! Sorry If Duplicated
mamaw replied to bevjen's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Hi I use unsalted butter or crisco or spectrum... I use the better batter for her recipes on her site. Which are terrific. I use Annalise Roberts flour blend for her recipes & I use B Hageman four bean flour for other things. I like a variety without having the same taste all the time. I use all the above with my old wheat recipes for years & never... -

ARCHIVED New Here! Sorry If Duplicated
mamaw replied to bevjen's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Hi There are several or many flour blends that are one to one to replace wheat flour. Here a several you may choose from: BetterBatter Flour, Domata Living Flour, Tom Sawyer plus many more. One thing is in gluten free you must add xanthan gum or gurar gum. Plus I don't care for plain rice flour, it is gritty. I use a blend of flours..plus if you are used... -

ARCHIVED Berry Berry Kix
mamaw replied to roxie's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
There are several other posts here about the berry kix. I contacted General Mills about this product. I was told that the only certified gluten-free cereal is the rice chex at this time. I did read the label & it appears okay but again CC issues mmust be considered if you are a sensitive celiac. Several people on here have been devouring this cereal... -

Hi & Welcome. It does take time to learn about your new lifestyle & there will be ups & downs in the learning process. Some see almost instant results while others take a year or more to heal & to start to feel better. I can tell you it is so worth the journey.....in the end you will feel so good . You have a great celiac support group...

ARCHIVED How Does Gluten Free Food Taste?
mamaw replied to Live2BWell's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I'll chime in here again! Our favorite pasta was & still is BiAglut . It is an import & at the present time it is not to be found do to the new labeling laws. I have been sparingly using my stash in hopes that it holds out until it can be found here in the US again. At this point I now wondering if that will happen-- its been months..... Tinkyada... -

ARCHIVED How Does Gluten Free Food Taste?
mamaw replied to Live2BWell's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I would suggest if you are having health problems to find a doctor whom you trust & get checked-out. For so many the gluten-free lifestyle was the answer to felling better. But if that is what your cause of ills happens to be - the only way to feel better is by the gluten-free lifestyle. So with that in mind it truly doesn't matter about the gluten... -
ARCHIVED How Does Gluten Free Food Taste?
mamaw replied to Live2BWell's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I have a silly question. Are you supposed to be gluten-free & are not or are you just curious? I'm confused over the question. This lifestyle is not a fad diet -- it is a way of renewed health for thousands who have suffered with many conditions & struggle daily for a ill free life. In the last few years those of us who are totally gluten-free... -
Hi I see some answered your questions but I'll add a few tidbits! A separate toaster or use toasta bags. A mixer just for gluten-free mixing. There is no way to clean the air vents on a hand mixer to remove gluten. Anyhting that is porous should be replaced... I would not recommend teflon or alum. cookware. It needs replaced way to often as soon as...

ARCHIVED Alternative Treatments?
mamaw replied to Plyncie's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Naet & Bio-Set both are muscle testing. I've done both with a excellent practitioner. The problem is finding a excellent practitioner. They are hard to come by! Neither will cure celiac disease. They cannot cure or heal autoimmune disorders. My two practitioners stated that on the first visit! But I can say it ot both has helped me with food allergies... -
