mamaw replied to jebach's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Hello your body could be going through the transition period & making you tired after you are removing a poision from your system ( wheat). This is a big change to your body. Try drinking lemon water ... There are other things that can make you feel dehyrated ie: diabetes, sjogren's, thyroid are a few examples. And be sure you are not getting hidden... -
Honestly you can learn more on here & other sites on your own than most dieticians can share with you .Some insurances will not pay for the dietician & it is not worth going. If the dietician has celiac or gluten intolerance then they can help. I've lost faith in most. small intestine cancer does happen but it is still rare. It is best to not cheat...

ARCHIVED Fairly New At This And Very Frustrated Right Now
mamaw replied to Sin3str0's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I know some people get ill from pizza fusion, not all of this chain is gluten free savvy! I agree if you are super sensitive adding more than one food a week isn't a good idea. plus you could be having a reaction to rice or corn or anything else that doesn't have anything to do with gluten. Many have other issues that crop up as an allergy. Plus I find... -
Hi Crystal It doesn't matter if you are are full-blown celiac or gluten intolerant the outcome is the same. No wheat , rye or barley..spelt is part of the wheat family. Faro is also a no no. If you have an allergy to wheat that is a whole different issue.

We like Uno's in Cranberry Twp much better. Pizza Fusion is in Gibsonia so actually you would be closer to Uno's.( coming up 79) And the price is so reasonable at Uno's - under $12.00. I know a family of four 2 adults.& 2 kids went to pizza fusion -the adults had a beer a piece plus a gluten-free pizza. the bill was $75.00 I can give you directions if...

SBJ betterbatter does not give me any kick-backs nor I'm I employed by betterbatter,it is just a good flour blend with lots of recipes at the site & also easy to work with..I taste test for many . When I first went gluten-free I had no one to help me or to tell me what was worth buying. I wasted thousands of dollars on gluten-free stuff that the dogs... -

ARCHIVED Confused With Oven Cross-contamination
mamaw replied to Sin3str0's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I would not use any porous item for gluten-free that was used for wheat prior. I think that is a good rule of thumb. Most ovens are cleaned well & i never bake directly on my oven rack. That is a good point about the convection oven but I still use mine & haven't gotten sick. -

ARCHIVED Starting The gluten-free Diet
mamaw replied to beautiful.victory's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Hi & welcome I think you should be tested first then go gluten free. If you go gluten free first-- to be properly dx'd you would need to go back on wheat for a period. The doctor who suggests you do this , I believe is putting the cart before the horse... It is hard enough without making a person go back on wheat to get a proper Dx's. Yes, the gluten... -

KLS It's okay . Not everyone reads the other threads in the post before they reply as well. That is where things get repeated. But don't be upset. When I posted first I stated that I didn't assume you were filing a lawsuit.....I certainly understand your anger with Uno's . Really I don't think we can without reservation trust anyone including relatives...

I have a similar book written by Shari Lieberman called the gluten connection. It talks about celiac disease but also gluten intolerance & how so many are missed dx'd & taking control on your own life.... I love it ... blessings

Kls Thanks for letting us know. We all learned from you today....kudos. I would think that Uno's will jump on this error & tell all the staff in the kitchen who prepares gluten-free foods. Smokey Bones is another oone that had a mistake. They were stating pulled pork as gluten-free but the chicken broth they use has gluten in it so they pulled it...
