  1. I would have to add New York City, several New England States.....I do think gluten-free is becoming easier to find but now only if we all could have one stop shopping for all our gluten-free wants! I get tired being a road warrior...
  2. N.F.Steelers Many get wrong dx's such as IBS , chronic bowel & so on. It is not uncommon. lactose is the sugar in dairy & casein is the protein part. Casein is also broken down at the tips of the villi, same as with gluten so some are both celiac & must be dairy free as well.Every one is different... Are you from Pittsburgh? If your bloodwork...
  3. Hello&welcome I would like to make a suggestion, if you have not already done ! I feel you should get testing done first. I'm a believer that most people can not digest wheat products but on the other hand there are other illness that causes problems that has nothing to do with wheat eating. It is hard to get a proper dx's with anything but I think...

    ARCHIVED Communion

There are several recipes floating on celiac websites. Also you can buy ready made communion wafers. A group on nuns makes them with allowable traces of gluten plus I think EnerG makes them. I haven't bought them in a long time . We use bread at my church so I just make my own now...I wrap it in foil & give it to my pastor before church & he has...
  9. Hi I just wanted to say I had days like yours way before celiac.....It happens & you may get glutened several times before it all becomes clear. Just don't beat yourslelf up over it!. Usually the dog eats our steaks before we get a chance to cook them! It will get better but it all takes time, a game plan, & will power....... It is a great learnng...
  10. Honestly, there is not much that you can't have. It just has to be gluten-free. I know many great gluten-free foods & can tell you where to buy if you want just let me know what you are craving & I bet we can find a good gluten-free match. Do you know what is available in the mainstream grocery shelves? There is quite a lot so you don't have to...

  12. Your micro should be fine if you clean it well. I would think about replacing a hand mixer if you use one & bread maker.. If you have a lot of gluten products why not donate them to a friend or food bank instead of throwing the items away. Surely you know someone who could benefit from your now useless things, same with toaster, pots & pans... ...
  13. Hi everyone! Estelita, I'm from Butler! There are a few gastro practices . Allegheny Hospital , Three Rivers Endo (Moon TWp & Cranberry) So. Hills Dr. Limauro/ Gloriosio,/ Colatrella. A doc in Steubenville, Ohio has also been dx-ing celiac Not sure of the spelling but I think it is Dr.Vodvarka. Children's Hosp has a couple of doc who hav eeen stepping...
  14. Hello Here is my two cents in regard to partial gluten-free! I'm a gluten-free mentor & have been gluten-free for years. Gluten free is more costly & to see the best results one needs to be totally gluten-free. So if one is being gluten-free partially then I feel you are wasting hard earned money buying the more costly gluten-free foods. This is...
  15. Hi & Welcome celiac is an autoimmune disease with the only cure to date is a gluten free diet.It is a lfelong commitment. It can run in families & other illness' can mimic celiac so a prompt dx's is not always the case. Many get dx's with other issues but in the end the bottom line is celiac. FOr some ten years before they finally get a dx's...
  16. Many diabetics fair very well on the gluten-free diet. Some were able to stop the pill & others who take shots have been able to reduce the amount of insulin....... many doctors hav eput their patients on the gluten-free diet! You may want to hang on to the books for a while longer...
  17. Hello & welcome Bone Loss & blaoting, gassy, all can be from celiac or gluten intolerance... not all genes have been ID as yet . Remember that products should state no gluten. Being wheat free does not make a product gluten free. ALways look for gluten-free!!!!!! Some never experience anything when they get gluten, others react differently. Our...

  19. jackie Thank You. I try to help all I can. When I got dx'd years ago I have no one & wasted ton of money on things I couldn't get the dog to eat. I've been there , alone, angry, scared & just plain feeling rotten.& forgotten by family & friends.... If you have any questions please just ask I'll be glad to help....my focus now is not about...
  20. hello No question is stupid. I do suggest that before you start being gluten-free you get some bloodwork, endo & or Dna testing first. Otherwise a few months down the road these tests will not be accurate because you have already stopped eating gluten. Meats, fruits & veggies are all gluten-free except for ones that have coatings, glazes, marinades...
  21. It's sounds like you are still in the greiving stages of your illness. Perfectly natural....... Could you be getting to caught up in this: Overwhelmed perhaps? 23. For those mosquitos we take a B-1 tablet every day . No chemicals to poision your body. Works like a charm. It will take a few weeks to build up to a level that will repel. When we drove to ALaska through the Yukon the mosquiotes were horrible. The people who made the trip before & were returning all had netting for their total bodies. We didn't have...
  24. Gluten must me indigested to cause intestinal harm. This is a toss -up as some with DH (skin rash ) can not use HBA products with gluten but others will tell you that it must me swallowed to cause damage. As an adult I can't see eating shampoo & skin creams. Are you very sensitive to gluten? Again some are & some are not.It may be a choice you wil...
  25. Oberto has a couple of beef jerky flavors. I only buy the original, its not my favorite.!!! The best small pkg. of meats that we all love is Gary WestMeats.
