mamaw replied to babyem0626's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Hi Emily even if you make your own bread it would need to be frozen at some point unless you can eat an entire loaf in a few days....Pamela's has a gluten-free bread mix that is good. Anna's bread mix is wonderful unless you was a town talk bread lover prior to being gluten-free! Do you get the gluten-free living magazine? there is a great recipe for bread... -

mamaw replied to ligeia's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
our grandson was 2 1/2 when he had an endo done.....Yes, she would need to be consuming gluten for the bloodwork to be accurate. Do you have her off of gluten already? Also rem, ember there are some that bloodwork, biospy, never show anything but when taken off gluten the person thrives. Latent celiac....I know a couple of children who did not have the typical... -

ARCHIVED How Strict "gluten-free Diet"?
mamaw replied to mellowyellowmushroom's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
How strict do you need to be? Answer:100% for life. Why cause more grief by cheating now & then! I think many find that once they come into tune with their body they start noticing other things that cause discomfort. People will say oh it is just gas or indigestion & take a tum or something & pass it out but I feel the body is reacting to... -

mamaw replied to DinaB's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Hi Dina I feel your pain!I can not have any narcotics as my throat sweels shut in minutes... gluten-free or not. I have had two major surgereries plus one about 40 minutes long.... no narcotics. ARCHIVED One Year Re-test For My Son
mamaw replied to Amyleigh0007's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
the numbers vary from lab to lab. Some labs say any number under ten or five is excellent... Check on what his level was when he first was dx'd then what the number is currently. You also can ask for copies to keep for yourself.......... Plus I know about five kids that are just one year into the gluten-free lifestyle & their numbers have come down... -
ARCHIVED Super Sensitive And Frustrated With Many Questions
mamaw replied to sylviaann's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I don't doubt your medical ills & it is very hard at times to know what is happening to our bodies. When I first went gluten-free I did not react a lot but now after years I'm super sensitive. I don't drink wine because of sulphites ( a few can be had without sulphites) I don't do anything with MSG..... I don't do well with Bob's Red Mill.......... -
ARCHIVED gluten-free Cake Mixes
mamaw replied to missy'smom's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Our fav would be Pamela's for a mix! WholeFoods is actually Gluten Free Pantry with a Whole Foods label..... Betty Crocker mixes may well be very good but I'm guessing it has loads of trans fats..... 123 is good but again not as light as Pamela's..... Annalise Roberts cookbook has wonderful moist, tender cakes & cupcakes.....very easy as well. blessings... -
ARCHIVED Adhd As It Relates To A Gfcf Diet
mamaw replied to looking 4 answers's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
My thought is 100% at all times. Why eat this way 90% of the time (for instance) & not know if it is helping, when you will see results if one follows the diet 100% of the time. Plus if he is going to be 100% & see an improvement why would you want to give-in & maybe let him have gluten goodies & it sits him back. To me that is like being... -

Boston Market has gluten-free selectons. I would not consider Taco Bell or KFC, Way to much cross- contamination.

ARCHIVED 7 Weeks Gluten Free
mamaw replied to Lisa79's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Hang in there. It takes a while for your body to adjust. You didn't develope celiac in a day, week or month & I wouldn't expect instant relief. For a few they get instant relief but it can take up to a year or even two to notice a big change... Every body is different... blessings mamaw -
ARCHIVED I'm A Newbie ...... Again!
mamaw replied to karenhockley's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Hello The gluten free world is changing rapidly. Really good foods now! No more gritty foods if you want to pay for the best of the best! Most breads should be frozen if not eaten in a couple of days. But there are many breads that have a shelf life for a week or so. I don't use bread daily so I always freeze my bread. If you put wax paper between... -
