ARCHIVED chex and fruity pebbles, safe or not
flutegal64 replied to pdm1981's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I've had issues with Chex so I'm going to say they are not safe. At first they were ok then I think now they aren't as careful as they were. -
ARCHIVED The Flu and celiac disease
flutegal64 replied to Arasmas's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
A lot of over the counter medicines now are labeling things as gluten free... like Top Care brand labels if their medicines are gluten free. I notice the pharmacy medicines are the ones that won't claim they are gluten free or not. Anyway, I was just thinking Celiac is an autoimmune disease so I wouldn't be surprised if there could be a trigger. When I... -
ARCHIVED Multiple intolerances - please help me figure out what to eat
flutegal64 replied to kenneth88's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Do you have any diagnosis from a doctor? Weight loss like you are describing could signal a serious issue that you shouldn't be messing around with. You shouldn't be cutting out all of those foods without going to a doctor to figure out what is going on. A doctor would be doing testing to make sure nothing serious is going on. I'm the first person... -
ARCHIVED 9 months on gluten free diet and NOT OK !
flutegal64 replied to gfpuddin's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Keep looking for a GI doctor that you trust. Don't go back to someone you don't trust! I had a GI doctor who thought I had anxiety (I was a woman whose colonoscopy and endoscopy came back ok so I was crazy) and put me on highly addictive pain medicine without telling me... he told me to trust him and it was to deal with the pain and led me to believe it...- 24 replies

ARCHIVED Rectal bleeding and abdominal pain
flutegal64 replied to KatieKing's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I had a lot of bad abdominal pain for at least 6 months. A few of the ER nurses told me to watch soy. I think they were on the right track because I ended up having a few other food intolerances besides gluten causing the pain. Food intolerances are tough to figure out. Could be anything, but there aren't tests to figure it out if it is a food intolerance... -
ARCHIVED Nothing left to eat
flutegal64 replied to canadianjem's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Buckwheat cereal is what I go to a lot. Oats may or may not be ok with you. If you go to a gluten free store there are lots of gluten free cereal options. Instead of cow's milk there is almond milk, coconut milk, rice milk, hemp milk, soy milk. -
ARCHIVED Missing too much work
flutegal64 replied to Nicoleilene's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
It sounds like something else could be going on. I would have hoped the doctor would run a blood test for other vitamin deficiencies? A lot of people with Celiac are deficient in other vitamins. A lot of regular food is fortified with vitamins and most gluten free foods are not fortified with vitamins. Also, your intestines are still healing probably so... -
ARCHIVED Help!! Don't believe GI doctor
flutegal64 replied to Caparici's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Listen to your body. If it tells you your body doesn't react well to something then don't eat it. It could be gluten intolerance which is more common. If you have the extra money then why not get the genetic test (it's way cheaper than it used to be- I don't think it's $400 anymore like someone said above... for some reason I thought there was one for... -
ARCHIVED Secondary food intolerances due to gluten
flutegal64 replied to 1398-Days's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Sometimes things like milk intolerance will go away after your gut heals. I would watch your diet and stay connected with a GI doctor... you never know if something else could be going on as well. There are other diseases associated with Celiac. -
Drugs can be frustrating! Your pharmacist should be able to call the manufacture. However, recently I've noticed the drug companies are being very mysterious in their responses. At best they will say there are no gluten containing ingredients. I've gotten sick on more and more medications recently even when they say they don't contain gluten (but I get...

ARCHIVED Candida test
flutegal64 replied to flutegal64's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I noticed after I posted this that there are some topics about this posted before. There is a search function above. But, if anyone has anything new to post that would be appreciated. -
ARCHIVED Lower left abdominal, left pelvic & other random pains
flutegal64 replied to xcalibr's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I have heard if you can't get comfortable you should go to the ER. How do you know nothing is serious with the organs? Have you had a CT or ultrasound or some scan? If you've never had a scan the ER might do a CT to confirm it's nothing serious. It depends on the ER doctor you get and what they think. GI pains are often associated with food. I can... -
ARCHIVED Lower left abdominal, left pelvic & other random pains
flutegal64 replied to xcalibr's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I've done the hospital thing. They won't do anything unless it's an emergency (like your heart rate is off, appendix, ruptured organ, gushing blood). They will give you pain meds (which will get you constipated a few days later making GI issues worse). But use your judgement. If you think it's ER worthy then go. If you think it's appendix, or ruptured... -
I wouldn't eat anything by Quaker. I'd get rid of the Quaker rice cakes. Those big brands often has cross contamination issues. I stick with exclusive gluten free facilities. The Doctor situation is ridiculous... having to wait that long seems like the normal thing even if you are having excruciating pains.

ARCHIVED First Gastritis GERD and now Celiac?
flutegal64 replied to leej91's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
One of the things with weight loss is it could set off your gallbladder too. Some of your symptoms sound like gallbladder. Has your doctor tested for that yet? They can do a HIDA scan. -
Hi everyone, I have been gluten free for about 10 years. Recently I've been having pain in my lower right side and upper right side near my belly button. (I've had lots of tests and the doctors don't think appendix.) Someone told me to be tested for Candida. They were tested and had to be put on anti-fungal medicine (it has to do with killing...

ARCHIVED Lower left abdominal, left pelvic & other random pains
flutegal64 replied to xcalibr's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
It seems weird a primary doctor would think Celiac and not refer you. The first thing I thought was go see a GI doctor. The moving pain may suggest intestinal, but you are also describing a specific location which could be an organ. Speaking from experience, I have the same pain you are having for about a year now, but my pain is pretty bad but it...
