  1. Canyon Bakehouse is not certified, and I reacted to it the one time I dared try it. (C'mon, FDA! get those regs in place, already!) -Daisy
  2. GI is probably going to want to do an endoscopy, which he/she will want done while you are on a gluten full diet. That will show whether or not your intestines have been damaged. Also provides good incentive for staying gluten free! But in all seriousness, since you have a GI appt., wait for that and see what that dr has to say. He/She might know more...
  3. BTW- you're taking four classes online while feeling all kinds of, well, not good? Way to go!! That's really great! I just wanted to tell you that. Every step you take for yourself is great, just keep on going the way you are, keep doing what you need to for yourself. -Daisy
  4. Food Should Taste Good chips are AMAZING!!! Like replacement wheat thins! YUUUUUUMMMMMMMMMY!!! I also like Boulder Canyon Chips. Open Original Shared Link They write gluten free right on the front of the bag! Bless their lovely hearts. And their lovely chips! And I've never had a problem with the Mission chips either. It's the small indulgences...
  5. When I was newly diagnosed, my GI doctor said that the part of the villi that produce lactase (which digests lactose in dairy) is at the very tip. It is the first part of the villi that is damaged, but is also the first part that comes back. That said, he recommended that I avoid all dairy products for about 6 months to give that part of my villi time to...
  6. Magnesium (250 mg) and acidophilus each night helps me. Too much magnesium will get things going too well.... I also tend to eat an apple every day, so I know all about the eating plenty of fiber! -Daisy
  7.  Thanks for the chuckle! Now the new McD's expression is apparently "Do you want salt on them?" Oh, boy did I get a laugh out of this. Thanks! -Daisy
  8. Love2Travel said it: Easy? not really. Easier? Yep! I generally cook using whole foods, not the store, but fruits, vegetables, meats, and (if you can tolerate them), dairy. Tonight I made a sweet and sour pork. Sauce was pineapple juice, molasses, apple cider vinegar, and potato starch. Pork was dusted with sweet rice flour, chili powder, onion powder...
  9. The thing is, that now you have an answer, and a solution. All you have to do is change your diet, and so many problems will start to go away. So yes, feel angry, by all means, but don't let that be your sole focus. Concentrate on the future you, the you who can feel so much better, just by changing how you eat! After all of the horrible diagnoses that...
  10. I haven't tried any yet. But I'm so sensitive that I'm very scared to try! I'm two years past diagnosis, so I'm 'technically' allowed to try, but I can't afford the reaction if I do react (in grad school, not the best time to be hit by brain fog...!). -Daisy
  11. Do you have a source for this? I eat chicken often with no problems and I consider myself very sensitive. Are there particular brands you would advise against? -Daisy
  12. I'm with Roda. Baking soda is the cleaning king in my house, and his queen is vinegar. I generally have an apple a day, and the best way ever to get it clean is with a paste of baking soda. Everything else that doesn't get a paste scrub gets either a gentle paste bathing in my hands, or a swishing. I figure that it is better by far to eat my fruits and...
  13. I say, "and I'll bring my own food, since I hate to get sick and miss out on your company." (even if the company part may not be entirely true!) If they need more explanation, you can add in how the pots and pans that they use can still have traces of gluten in them, and cooking utensils, and in order to keep YOURSELF (so they don't worry about it all being...
  14. I agree with the above. If everything is working, I let it be. If it isn't, then I need more water, apples, and yogurt! -Daisy
  15. Have you tried cutting out dairy? You say your having stomach issues every morning, which makes me think breakfast, which could be milk and cereal? The ends of the villi are the part that process the lactose (milk sugar), and they are blunted by celiac damage. My GI doc. told me to hold off on the dairy for several months and let that heal, then try to...
  16. Owie! I'm so sorry for you and that awful pain! My migraine saver was topomax. . . but after being gluten free for 2 years, I'm going to start getting off of it! So, that was the short story, which told you almost nothing. Now for the long version. Hold on! My migraines were triggered by stinky perfumes (and inscense), lack of sleep, and hormones. They...
  17. As far as gluten free and soy free, the chips are good by me! And I'm very sensitive, too. Umm, yummy. They have a Mediterranean style too which is very delicious! -Daisy
  18. The short story? I got a "lymph node virus" (who's ever heard of that?) from my husband that was very painful in my gut. His got better in about 2 weeks, mine got a bit better, then WAY WORSE. As in, within a period of 6 weeks, I went from 1/2 percocet every 4 hours to 1 percocet every 2 hours. Then I ended up in the ER because the pain was so bad (They...
  19. Rudi's is different than Udi's. Rudi's is based in Boulder, CO; Udi's is based in Denver, CO. My husband and I prefer the Rudi's whole grain bread. Both companies also make evil bread, but Udi's has a seperate bakery for the gluten-free bread. (I don't know if Rudi's has a whole seperate facility, but I'm pretty sensitive, and I do well with 2 slices...
  20. If it is in tea, bad news. So far, I'm okay with chocolate coatings--so, very small amounts, in very limited doses, preferably spaced out. -Daisy
  21. I love all the crazy monkeys on here!!
  22. I was just thinking about this! I would go to India. After that, China and Japan. Growing up here in the States, I really notice the lack of history (and yes, I've been to Mesa Verde and other Native American sites). So places, such as India, with such an ancient culture that has stood for so long, absolutely fascinate me! One day! -Daisy
  23. "since the rash has gone i plan to eat some wheat bran tomorrow to see if i get the same reaction." Umm, why? You got a reaction from it, and you want to repeat this experience? Yes, the more gluten you eat, the more reaction you will get. If externally you are getting rashes, and you believe you might have celiac, imagine what you could be...
  24. I had the absolute JOY of hearing Shelley Case speak (in the US) about 4 months after my diagnosis, and I must admit, after that, I feel that everywhere other than the US is a bit ( ) more up in the research area than we are! So exciting for you to have gone! Sounds exciting. -Daisy
  25. Kroger has been marking their generics as gluten free--is one of their stores near you? Their 'allegra' should be good, and Walgreens is good about their generics too. -Daisy
