  1. I don't drink much soda but I admit I do like a Coke every now and then. Well it seems I'm reacting to this as well. I tried one over a week ago and tried again today just to see. Anyone else reacting to Coke like they've been glutened? Please no posts telling me I shouldn't be drinking this anyway, I know that. I am not addicted to soda. Just checking...
  2. All I can say is if you feel a world of difference being gluten-free then I think you should stay gluten-free,regardless of what the doctor tells you. I had both the blood and stomach biopsy, both negative but now I'm not so sure. The doc never met to discuss the results w/ me. He told my DH while I was out(after the procedure) that everything was fine...
  3. I cooked and the recipe called for soy sauce. I have some packets that are gluten-free. I should have checked every single one of them because I eventually dug out the garbage a day after I got glutened. I found one that I used had vegetable protein in it and I'm pretty sure that was it. I need to be more careful! Thanks for all the suggestions...
  4. I was glutened on Monday night and still feeling sick today(Wednesday) which is pretty normal for me. Sometimes it's like this for a week. I was wondering if there's anything that helps when you're glutened. Thanks.
  5. I researched that last yr but didn't seem like she has it. I'll look into it again. She doesn't vomit after eating grains.
  6. Hugs, I know the feeling. I feel like an outcast. I go to a mom's group and it's always centered on food. They're making cupcakes, making ice cream, potluck etc. etc. And people don't understand, sometimes I just don't go because I don't feel like my daughter and I sitting there and watching everyone pig out and we can't eat. We can bring our own food...
  7. I can't have dairy either and after a while you really don't miss it anymore since there's so many alternatives. To replace butter I use coconut oil(extra virgin) use it on toast, baked potato, baking, etc. I also use Spectrum shortening on some recipes. I drink hemp milk and rice milk. For cheese, if I have to have a subst. I eat rice cheese...
  8. Thanks to the previous commenter btw. Anyway, my dd is completely gluten-free, as much as I'm aware of. Even soaps, lotions and toothpaste. Her ped GI was not much help but I have done so much research so I guess you could say I was pretty much on my own with the gluten intolerance(hers) and with the food allergies, it's just that conventional drs haven...
  9. I have these symptoms. Ranges from tingling to pain in my arms, my joints also hurt(and swell) like I have the worst flu ever. I get severe headaches too when glutened, among other symptoms.
  10. You know what bugs me sometimes is being told being gluten-free is so easy. It irritates me when people claim they are gluten-free like it's the hottest thing to be on right now! I have to be gluten-free so I can survive! They don't get it. And I try not to say anything but I do correct people too. I react to even small amounts, it's not funny. My own...
  11. Hugs to you and I know the feeling. However after in the beginning I was sort of in denial. I was optimistic, only did recently, last month it all dawned on me. I don't know why, I've been gluten free since last yr but I guess all my emotions just got bottled up. So last month I just exploded and cried for hours. Maybe months and months of people making...
  12. I was paranoid so I replaced everything, except for silicone spatulas. I bought pots, pans, bakeware and I don't use anything with Teflon anymore.
  13. Hi. I have celiac, my daughter will be 3 in a month and half and she's gluten-free as well for a yr now. Initially she did so great, she gained 2.5 lbs in 3 weeks. She hasn't gained much since then and still has multiple food allergies. She recently just came up positive for rice and I'm pretty desperate now. I mentioned the possibility of leaky gut to...
  14. Do you have a slow-cooker? It helps a lot. It was very hard in the beginning, still is but doable. Our problem is that DD has multiple food allergies and so cooking is such a challenge. So anyway, I cook and then freeze a lot of stuff. I hope this helps, you already got some great advice but I thought I'd pipe in.
  15. Thanks for sharing, I'll have to use a milk substitute, do you think hemp milk will work?
  16. LOL well done! You know I've gotten sick once at PF Changs. It hasn't happened since last yr. That person you spoke to is very unprofessional and I think you should talk to the manager or write a letter to headquarters.
  17. I know this was from 2 yrs ago but I'm hoping you can help me. I'm thinking of giving my DD who will be 3 this fall some L-glutamine but I'm getting conflicting replies. Also was your DS diagnosed w/ leaky gut? I mentioned it to our GI doc and she won't even consider it. MY DD has multiple food allergies, trouble gaining weight and similar symptoms that...
  18. LOL that's very interesting! Thanks for sharing.
  19. Sounds like something my MIL would do. I would be cautiously optimistic! I would just be very careful. She sounds like she is not looking out for your interest and would rather prove a point kwim? I can't stand people like that!
  20. For me the biggest challenge is the social aspect of it. It's so hard, you go to parties/functions and you can't eat anything, always having to either bring your own food or going somewhere after that. This disease is very isolating and lonely. Food is a very social thing and just the fact you can't participate much is very difficult.
  21. I have eaten there 4x and got sick once, so there must have been some confusion. The one time I got sick was when my sister ordered it for me. Other than that I've been fine. I do that too, sometimes there's just that feeling something isn't right!
  22. I've been gluten-free close to 1 yr and been using this brand with no issues except if I eat too much I get gassy. Possible you're reacting to the flour itself, to buckwheat. Once your gluten-free a lot of times intolerance and/or food allergies that have been masked before will now be revealed. Hope this helps.
  23. Oh sorry I forgot to mention, I also had colonoscopy, I had it at the same time as the EGD and the GI dr said it was negative. So I am stumped, confused and wondering why there's still blood. Thanks
  24. Don't quote me but I heard that is typical for quinoa, I get gas too and so does my DD and I believe it's because it's high in fiber and also it has some coating to it that is supposed to cause GI distress. So I was told to soak it for a few hours and then rinse thouroughly before cooking. Before I would just rinse it til the water runs clear. Also it's...
  25. I don't know if this is the right place for this question, I've had the blood test and the endoscopy and both were negative but I stayed gluten-free because when I eat it, I am so sick. I have all the GI symptoms and also rashes that are very itchy and some look like blisters. I also get migraines and brain fog. So anyway I remain gluten-free and also...
