  1. larry mac, I see you are in Wylie... so am I!!!! Small world. I did find the Udi bread frozen at Sprouts in Murphy and the Whole Foods on Preston has the bread but no bagels. Apparently there is a problem with the scan bar. They hope to have it soon. I guess you must like the development that is happening in Wylie?? Small world...
  2. The Purely Decadent Coconut Milk ice cream in the cookie dough flavor is the only ice cream I have been able to eat without any problems. Well, maybe only one problem... I can't stop eating it... It is the only flavor that is both gluten free and dairy free - it is Parve meaning it has absolutely no milk products in it. It is too yummy.
  3. I checked the bulk bins at Sprouts and Whole Foods and it seems that the only ingredients in their dried apples, mango and papaya are the fruit and, Sulfur Dioxide. Any ideas if these items would be considered gluten free?
  4. Justins almond butter is really delicious. You have to mix it the first time and it stays mixed. It does not have to be stored in the fridge. Dipping some glutino pretzels in that is a yummy treat.
  5. mbrookes, Have you had any trouble getting the Udi bread? Here in Dallas, the Whole Foods are out of the bread and bagels because they say there is a packaging issue and don't know when it will come back. I was just wondering where you are?
  6. I am both gluten and dairy intolerant and boy oh boy is it difficult. Sprouts is a great store and there are lots of products that fit into my needs. They are as pricey as Whole Foods, but where I live they are closer than Whole Foods. I find I get the same "glutened" feeling when I eat dairy or gluten. This is a hard road each day, but when the bloating...
  7. JustLovely9216, I am sooo interested in your reply. You say you ate at Fudruckers and Wendy's and PF Changs and had burgers and fries? Pleasee plese tell me how you did this? Other than a baked potato at Wendy's what could you eat at Fudruckers? I love their burgers and fries and PF Changs makes great hot and sour soup. How did you find safe foods......

    ARCHIVED Eating Out

What a wonderful idea. I don't eat out often but every so often I have to... Just this past Monday our teaching team ate out at Black Eyed pea. I had the grilled catfish and rice. And yes, I got sick, but when I am forced to eat out, I pencil "getting sick" into the activities following eating out. I live just north of Dallas and the gluten free lifestyle...
  9. Ohhhh thank you so much for your reply. At 60 years old and having been on the Internet in chat rooms and on forums for many many years, I have never felt as awkward as I did when I received the moderator notice and warn status... thought I did something wrong. I appreciate your answer and explanation.
  10. I was wondering exactly the same thing. I thought "Oh my what did I say?" I also notice a "watch status" at the bottom of my name... what does that mean? Thanks for your help.
  11. I buy the chicken tenders or skinless/boneless chicken breasts and cut them into tenders and dip in beaten egg then into seasoned crushed rice chex and bake at 350. We use a honey mustard dip - they are very yummy and very safe!
  12. I live north of Dallas in the Plano area. I was wondering if there were any support groups in this area. I just turned 60 and have Colitis, IBS, gluten and dairy intolerances. This has been a difficult change for me but I must admit I feel better. The pain and bloating has all but gone. I could use a support group if there were any around this area.
  13. Ok, I have a question about this question. Are all white and red wines gluten free? What about the fizzy wines?
  14. I make delicious gluten-free cookies with 1 egg, 1 cup peanut butter, 1 cup sugar and 1 tsp. baking soda. Lately though, the peanut butter is making my lips tingle and I was wondering if I could substitute almond butter for the peanut butter? Anyone ever try this? Thanks for cookie suggestions without peanut butter..
  15. All sound like good ideas. I eat fairly simply. For lunch today I had cooked some quinoa shell pasta, mixed in a little goat cheese, margarine and salt and pepper. It was like comfort food. I also found some wonderful Udi bagels at Whole Foods and toast 1/2 for lunch or dinner... very yummy. My husband has his own issues around food choices so it isn...
  16. I've had many colonoscopies over the last 5 years and it is definitely colitis, GERD, gastro-paresis, hiatia hernia. The IBS and Gluten and Dairy came afterwards. I must say since going gluten free and for the most part dairy free, I am slowly beginning to feel better. Last night I only had to get up once because of the pains. This horrible flare began...
  17. I take a really hot bath and relax in it for about 20 minutes... the pain is usually gone or at least tolerable. I use Tylenol and Simethicone to help relieve the gas pains.
  18. Hello from Dallas Texas!

  19. I agree. Being as gluten-free as I am... almost completely but not quite has made a difference to my quality of life. My stomach has gone down, I am not "foggy" any more and I seem to be sleeping a little better. My problem is that I am also dealing with Colitis, IBS and a Dairy intolerance... I'm not sure what to eat so I am not eating alot. gluten-free...
  20. It is so difficult to menu plan when you have more than one issue to deal with. Other than needing gluten free foods, I have Colitis (no fresh veggies, fruits, seeds, nuts, high fiber), IBS (no high acid foods, no grease, no spicy foods) Dairy Free (no milk and just a little goat cheese is ok). I am often dealing with pain and nausea, but when the drugs kick...
  21. I did just check the Boost bottle and it does say lactose free but not dairy free. It seems to agree with me, so I guess I am lucky to be able to use this product. Thanks for your information, I hope it helps someone who might have thought this product was dairy free.
  22. I am planning a restaurant outing this weekend - my 60th birthday. I thought I would go for sushi and have just the sashimi, sticky rice. I plan to bring my own gluten-free soy sauce. My hubby can indulge in all the other goodies at the buffet. I'm satisfied with sashimi and steamed crab legs... Anyone had any experiences at a Sushi restaurant?
  23. I use: 1 egg 1 cup peanut butter 1 cup white sugar 1 tsp. baking powder 1 tsp. vanilla Lightly beat egg in separate bowl. Mix peanut butter and sugar in large bowl, by hand until well blended. Add in remaining ingredients and mix well. Roll 1 TBSP of dough into a ball and roll in white sugar to coat. Place on parchment...
  24. I have started having a Boost drink with a little bit of sliced mango for breakfast. I have been so ill with nausea that I just can't eat breakfast. Boost is gluten free and dairy free and I sip it for quite a while, just to let my body get used to the idea of eating each day. For me it has been a life saver. I am gluten intolerant as well as having...
