  1. Might want to get that checked out: Open Original Shared Link "The most common cause of acquired nystagmus is certain drugs or medication. Phenytoin (Dilantin) - an antiseizure medication, excessive alcohol, or any sedating medicine can impair the labyrinth's function. Other causes include: Head injury from motor vehicle accidents Inner ear disorders...
  2. Ugh! You children! Momma said clear liquids first and then a couple of little bites! Hope you feel better soon!
  3. Yes. A special yeast may contain other ingredients. Also, If it is used in a finished product, it will need to say yeast ( yeast, wheat, etc). Plain old yeast is gluten free. But this highlights the need to read ingredients every time.
  4. I have never see a yogurt with gluten. It said it contained wheat?
  5. If the ingredients state wheat - that is one thing. Broth isn't another word for wheat. As your link pointed out - its salt water. I try not to buy them because I do not want the added salt.
  6. That's horrible! You were diagnosed with Celiac Disease in 2010 but no one told you the only cure is to go gluten-free until now? Sounds like malpractice to me. Anyway, read around the forum . In the coping section is a Newbie thread that could be helpful. https://www.celiac.com/forums/topic/91878-newbie-info-101/
  7. Where did you get the idea that " broth" contains gluten? Usually it's chicken juice, water and salt. If they add wheat, they have to list that. Your links don't say " gluten" or wheat. You can tell which have the added salt water by looking at the sodium content. Unsalted chicken has some naturally occurring sodium but it will be way less than the package...
  8. Well.. Its bedtime. Have some water and go to sleep. That will give it a 6-10 hour rest ( hopefully ).
  9. before you were born, I worked at a Children's hospital. When the kids got bad D or vomiting from a virus, the best thing to do was let the intestinal tract rest. No food, no excess liquid, nothing that required a lot of digesting. Once the problem isn't happening as much, add small amounts of food. If all goes well after 4-6 hours, eat a bit more each...
  10. Sometimes, Its not about gluten. Sounds like you got a nice virus and it went to your gut. Sometimes, the best thing to do is only clear liquids ( Gatorade, water, flat ginger ale/ sprite, water) for 12-24 hours. Then add something bland and easy like a few bites of rice or a few bites of cooked apple or some banana. Wait.....maybe an hour or two and...
  11. Gluten in plain chicken? I have never seen that. What brand puts gluten in the plain uncooked chicken? What is the gluten, wheat?
  12. I'm not sure what you are trying to say but to repeat what everyone and your article says - plain yeast is gluten-free. Brewers yeast may not be.
  13. That's me! Built of steel and made to last!
  14. I split this post into his/ her post into a separate topic.
  15. My son has this issue. He found that soaps without sulfites help a lot. He uses Open Original Shared Link. As shampoo and soap. He gets a sulfite free toothpaste as he was getting sores in his mouth, too.
  16. If you were gluten-free for 2 years, Celiac testing means nothing. 1 week on gluten is likely not enough to show the damage needed to show up on a biopsy.
  17. Why didn't your GP read your files and see you had Celiac? Why didn't he/ she explain it to you? Why didn't your parents ask for more info? Go to the library and look it up? Who knows. celiac was considered rare and little known until a short time ago.
  18. celiac disease is an autoimmune disease. You just don't outgrow them. Really, very few diseases can be " outgrown". Allergies sometimes can be " outgrown" but Celiac isn't an allergy. You might want to read a little about celiac disease. This is an easy to understand site. Open Original Shared Link
  19. When my son or I have an upset stomach, we like rice Chex ( plain, no milk).
  20. FYI- you are replying to a 4 year old post/ joke?
  21. I think its pretty hard to cc a dairy product. You can't really make bread in a milk/ dairy factory. Just read the ingredients.
  22. Or....did you get tested? I took it to mean that you only had a bone scan and he told you to eat gluten free. But reading back....maybe you did get Celiac tests, too? If that is the case, you can't have a tiny mount of gluten if you can at all avoid it. If that means no restauraunt, then that is what you must do.
  23. This is the Frito Lay list for the US. I think it's slightly different in other countries. Open Original Shared Link Yes, People! I know none of these items are good for you! But sometimes, a Celiac needs some normal junk food!
  24. If you have Celiac disease, then even a small, tiny amount of gluten, keeps the antibodies going. The antibodies continue to attack the small intestine and effect absorption of nutrients/vitamins. For people who just stop eating gluten to see if it might help with a certain problem -I don't think it is known whether the small amounts from a bakery...
  25. Even tho this thread is over 3 years old, Kraft marshmallows are still gluten-free. Kraft has a good policy about listing items made from any gluten - not just the federally mandated wheat, but also barley ( can't imagine rye is in much but bread)
