  1. Not sure what your question is, so I'll answer what I think it is. Just having a gene for celiac doesn't mean you have celiac. Open Original Shared Link Do most people with celiac disease have the gene turned on at birth? For celiac disease to develop, you don’t just need the gene(s), but also the contribution of several environmental factors (the f...
  2. Yes, I know there are real serious adrenal diseases, but that wasn't the topic. You are all stating your opinions and experiences, fine. If taking something harmless helps you feel better, that is great. I can choose to want to see the scientific evidence that these things helped you. Do you have before and after lab work we could look at? I realize...
  3. I got a separate toaster in red ( the color of gluten-free at my house) and keep it in the cabinet. If you only occasionally use a toaster, you could get or make toaster bags. I'll get a link and be back. I'm back! These are the kind I have. You can find them in some stores. I like this brand because its big enough to enclose the whole piece of...
  4. It is mentioned a lot and I think we need to be careful jumping to these fad diagnosis. It's making me " tired".
  5. What does " fatigue" or " tired" even mean when applied to a body organ? Whole organisms get tired and need a nap or more iron or more exercise. Sometimes we use these phrases to help us understand better - " Grandmas heart just got tired, Honey". But her heart isn't " tired" it has age related issues or arterial blockage. Supplement all you want...
  6. I guess my alternative " treatment" is to be careful self- diagnosing and treating. Not much different that I feel about fad " Celiacs" who decide they have celiac. To be clear - I did not say there are no adrenal illnesses. I even posted a few links that mention some serious ones. If that is the case, self- diagnosing and treating could be harmful...
  7. Currently, the recommendation for follow- up with Celiacs who are having no issues, is a yearly blood test. You could have an endo to see if you still have damage but there is no reason to do a gluten challenge.Open Original Shared Link How often should follow-up testing occur? New celiacs should receive follow-up testing twice in the first year after...
  8. I see people self diagnosing with " adrenal fatigue" a lot on here. But I would urge some caution. Open Original Shared Link Adrenal fatigue is a term applied to a collection of nonspecific symptoms, such as body aches, fatigue, nervousness, sleep disturbances and digestive problems. The term often shows up in popular health books and on alternative...
  9. You just jump up to the front of the line for wine. You don't need a big gulp, just touch the wine to your lips. A drop is all you really need. Or you may be able to get your priest to give you your own little Dixie cup or maybe you provide a wine glass that he can bless on the alter. The key is to talk to your priest.
  10. I think we told you that because you seemed to think you had a lot of neurological issues, brain damage and MS. Neurologists aren't going to treat you for celiac Disease but if you have MS or brain damage, those are serious diseases. You had stated that having an MS or brain damage diagnosis meant nothing to you and you wouldn't change or follow any treatment...
  11. If you want to post on a very old thread....that's ok. We just want to warn people that the original info may be out of date. This is especially true for product info as ingredients and manufacturing practices change over the years. Also, some people expect the original posters to respond and many times, they have not been on the forum for several years...
  12. I can eat it and I don't have a problem. I wonder why you think this company wants to hurt people with allergies? What will they gain? But, if you have evidence that. Unilever is lying about ingredients, please provide it to the FDA. They have a way to do that on their website.
  13. I have a 17 year old boy. I doubt he eats all by himself, in exile, with no friends. But that's just my son's thought.
  14. That's what I thought, too. My hub doesn't mind eating gluten free food but he wants a regular beer.
  15. Then I don't see how they are glutening you. But, if they put dirty caps back on food, maybe you are getting a touch of food poisioning? Effects you worse right now because you need to heal? Normal guts process lots of germs everyday and don't get sick.
  16. I would wash the cap off if it touched the floor - germs, dirt, cat hair being more an issue than gluten. I live with 2 (3 during college breaks) gluten eaters. I don't get glutened from crumbs I cannot see on computer keyboards, etc. obviously, you wouldn't be touching things with big crumbs. I think the more likely is: someone using the PB, as an example...
  17. You people have to stop this! I NEED to believe all these goodies have gluten in them! My thighs and butt do not need turtles and gelatos and Snickers and flavored pretzels, etc! How am I supposed to lose weight ? OMG! All of my favorite things are gluten-free!
  18. I found, when I was a gluten eater and gluten baker, that white vinegar helped dissolve the flour stuck on my mixer or cabinet ( OK.....I know....I can't cook with out making a big mess ). Maybe paper towels? The flour should come off a smooth surface. I don't put food directly on the counter very often. I think if you scrub a few times, you should be...
  19. Which leads us back to the First Rule Of Celiac Club - read the ingredients all the time!
  20. A couple of things. Buckwheat is not wheat - it is gluten free. You can have an intolerance to it but it isn't part of Celiac disease. Open Original Shared Link "How much gluten should be consumed prior to being screened for celiac disease? It’s best to continue a normal, gluten-containing diet before being screened and diagnosed. If a gluten-f...
  21. Sorry, Lisa, I'm going to disagree a little bit. He has been gluten-free for 6 weeks and is saving for a few months to get the endo. After several months gluten-free, it should be negative for Celiac. Open Original Shared Link "How much gluten should be consumed prior to being screened for celiac disease? It’s best to continue a normal, gluten-containing d...
  22. If you are eating gluten free for very long, an endoscopy would not detect celiac Disease. An endo or Colonoscopy might be useful to make sure there are no other issues. You might find this thread helpful: https://www.celiac.com/forums/topic/91878-newbie-info-101/
  23. She was going last April, so I hope she had a nice time and found a good place to stay.
  24. The blog post you link to explains why Enterolabs are not a good choice for tests.
  25. I think most people missed the fact that it got worse before he started the gluten-free diet. It has stayed the same on the diet. Obviously, it can take months to feel better - so hopefully, that is all it is.
