  1. it probably takes a few weeks to figure out how to eat gluten-free. There was a study done in Finland to determine if 20 ppm is a safe amount for a Celiac to eat in food. They gave different groups different amounts of food for a couple of weeks & then let them be gluten-free again. The antibodies of the group they gave a lot of gluten to went...

  3. I answered on your pizza thread! That place sounds amazing! None where I go in Colorado.
  4. Did not see this on their website on first look. I would eat this! I'm looking to see where all the locations are. Hoping for Breck or Vail Or Dillon or Frisco! "Borriello Brothers Real NY Pizza uses a 10" gluten free crust with sauce, cheese, and toppings that are separated from the regular pizza assembly area. The pizzas are also cooked in...
  5. I looked them up and they are in Colorado. There are lots of gluten-free choices in Colorado. Beau Jos is a good one. You should call them when they aren't busy and a manger might be there - like 11 a.m. Ask them if they use fresh toppings. The biggest problem with gluten-free pizzas is that they use the same cheese, sauce, etc. They smooth out a crust...
  6. Those are great results. It can take a while to stop making the antibodies after you go gluten-free. They went way down and, if they test in 3 months, they will likely be "normal"
  7. If its self cleaning, you don't need those toxic oven cleaners. Just run the cycle - it should be hot enough and long enough to burn up gluten. Then just wipe out the ashes, if there are any.
  8. If there is something that could fall on your food, definitely. But, wouldn't you do that anyway? But, when I moved into a previously owned kitchen, I cleaned the oven, counters, fridge, bathrooms, etc. use the self cleaning cycle and wipe any ashes out after. If it doesn't have a self cleaning cycle, I would use one of those foaming oven cleaning products...
  9. I see people looking at this all the time, and some of the info on this thread is incorrect about gluten. so I thought I would provide the updated info. 10. There are lots of gluten-free corn tortilla chips. Many even say gluten-free on the bag. I use Mission chips a lot. They don't make any chips but the corn ones. This is the Frito Lays list for the US Open Original Shared Link From Mission chips website: Are wheat flour tortillas produced in the same lines as corn products? No, our corn production...
  11. Has he never had a bad stomach virus? Even so, The fact that you are in obvious pain should be enough for him. I have never had open heart surgery, but I understand it hurts like hell. And then there is the fact that gluten starts to damage your intestines.... I guess he won't believe that child birth hurts either?

  13. I gave you a link to a medical center. It might be good for you to look over that site. You could post the tests and ranges and results here, too, if you would like. If your child is diagnosed with Celiac, you will want an official diagnosis. Many schools, hospitals, camps, etc will not accommodate without a note from an MD. Lots to think think about...
  14. I would still get a copy of the blood test to make sure she did the standard ones. There are some that do not diagnose Celiac that non- MDs do. I just want you to be certain before you undertake such a big life change and take on a life- long diagnosis.
  15. Maybe you could post what tests you had done? and the results? I'm afraid that many "naturopaths" do some unproven testing. This whole website has information form actual doctors that study and treat Celiac Disease. Open Original Shared Link
  16. Just want to clarify this <20 ppm. First - that is twenty parts in a million parts...so it's really small. Second- using testing at <20 ppm doesn't not mean the food has 20 ppm. It could be 19 or 2 or 0. If you used the same test on the inside of an apple, it would test as <20 ppm.
  17. Why don't you post this question in the forum? Maybe explain how or if you were diagnosed and a little history? This is the blog section and people don't usually answer questions over here. It Is really meant for blog entries.
  18. Are you in Utah? I don't think there is a Costco or Safeway anywhere near Moab. You could certainly stock up in a bigger city on the way. Salt Lake City has a lot of good groceries and a few gluten-free bakeries. If you are coming from that direction.
  19. I wonder if you shouldn't continue to eat gluten and see an MD to get tested for Celiac. Celiac isn't an allergy. Maybe an actual medical diagnosis would help you stay gluten free?
  20. Me too! Oh well... All we can do is put out the info.
  21. The stomach virus that seems to be going around the whole country?
  22. It was inappropriate and removed. Thank you for your thoughtful comment..
  23. If you are eating less calories, you will lose weight. Many times people give up a few gluteny foods that are high calorie. Try adding more calories. Add some oil or butter to your veggies or chicken. If you can eat dairy - add some cheese. Eat nuts and nut butters or "seeds" and seed butters.
  24. You could try googling "Celiac support Manchester or CT". Also see if there is anything on here: https://www.celiac.com/categories/Celiac-Disease-Support-Groups%2C-Organizations-%26amp%3B-Contacts/United-States-of-America%3A-Celiac-Disease-Support-Groups-and-Organizations/
  25. Just an FYI - most of these posters haven't been on the forum in a couple of years.
