ARCHIVED 5 Years Gluten Free. Still Am Suffering. What Could It Be?
kareng replied to Pat Tato's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Were you diagnosed as allergic to wheat? Celiac? There really isn't an allergy to gluten but sometimes we say that for Celiac to make it easier for someone, like a waiter, to understand. There are people on here who can explain food allergies better. But basically, an allergy isn't diarrhea, etc. To find out if you are intolerant, not allergic... -
ARCHIVED My Daughter Is Miserable, Possible Celiac?
kareng replied to AKSheridan's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Open Original Shared Link What is a gluten challenge? A gluten challenge is the period of time when gluten is added back into a person’s diet to assist in the diagnosis of celiac disease. Antibodies take time to build into the blood stream before they can be detected through blood analysis. For a gluten challenge we recommend eating 1/2 slice of bread o... -

kareng replied to GwenO's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Accidents happen. But if her numbers are still high, maybe she is eating other foods she doesn't know the ingredients of? At school or friends houses? -
ARCHIVED Green Drink Free Of Wheat Or Barley
kareng replied to Jackie M 89's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
We have a version of the Nutribullet - it's GE and says Walmart on the bottom. Works great for smoothies. Can't really juice with it. -
ARCHIVED How Do I Know If My Post Was Ever Approved?
kareng replied to LauraF's topic in Board/Forum Technical Help
It appears. You have 2 posts approved right now. You might want to " follow" the topic you posted in by going to the top of the thread ( all the comments) on the right side is a little head and you check it for follow. Looks like you figured the following out. I see you are following here. You can also click on your self and look at your posts from... -
We tried. I feel that I want the correct info on these threads, in case someone really wants to understand.

I think you aren't understanding. This does not prove your " theory" about this test showing you need iodine. I think the reason there aren't more medical studies or even info about this skin test on sites like Mayo, is because they don't test for things that aren't physically possible. ARCHIVED Pacificia Perfume
kareng replied to powerofpositivethinking's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I was wondering. I looked at some products that didn't say gluten-free but didn't contain any gluten ingredients. Great to know. I will look for them. -
Somewhere in the " evidence" presented it says to get your fingers wet and you will leave yellow spots from the iodine coming out. Honestly, we can't convince you with scientific / biological evidence. I was hoping a more common sense approach would help. Because this really has nothing to do with Celiac Disease, I am done trying to get you to understand...

ARCHIVED What Are The Consequences Of A Lax Approach To The gluten-free Diet?
kareng replied to BlessedMommy's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I don't know what level of arsenic will kill me, but I don't think I will take the chance. A stroke at any age is scary! Another stroke at 30 would be even more scary! -
Diana, I really worry that these people are just taking advantage of you. And taking your money, too! Yes, a medical test. By your non-medical doctor's logic, none of us has enough iodine because we don't ooze it out of our skins. You seem very interested in how the body works. I wonder if you might enjoy an anatomy and physiology course at your...

ARCHIVED Safeway Products
kareng replied to I3Daniel's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
You are responding to an original post from 2007. I'm sure the products have changed. In fact, in the US , now, Safeway has a line of gluten-free cookies, pastas, etc. -
ARCHIVED Exhausted By The End Of The Day
kareng replied to twe0708's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
To me, it just sounds like you are a grown- up. You get up early and are busy all day. You should be tired by 9. Seems natural. Maybe if he got up when you do and went to work then worked on the house stuff at night or all day Saturday, he would be tired, too? -
ARCHIVED Glutened Symptoms, Need Help!
kareng replied to nikki-chevelle's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
But it sounds like you do get symptoms & a " direct hit"! It doesn't have to be diarrhea. Getting an immediate reaction isn't usually a celiac thing. If you have been gluten-free for a while, you might need a few hours to mount an antibody defense. But, you tested negative. You might have a sensitivity to gluten. You might not. Maybe it's some... -
Another easy & stress free way to do this : read the conversation/ pm. Then use the " delete" at the top right of the first pm. It then asks "Are you sure you wish to permanently delete this conversation?" And you pick OK. Edited to get the exact wording.

ARCHIVED So Sick And I Keep Making Mistakes
kareng replied to snugglykindness's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Celiac disease isn't an allergy to gluten. There really isn't an allergy to gluten. You can be allergic to wheat but your symptoms don't really seem like an allergy. Why not get tested for Celiac before you completely stop eating gluten? Then you will know where you stand. You will have a diagnosis so you don't doubt yourself. You will have a diagnosis... -

Addy - I saw about the wreck on FB. I felt so bad for that daddy. I also saw your bounty of colorful carrots. My guys don't mind cooked carrots in stew or soup. I bet they would like them roasted. you could roast them and freeze for a quick side dish. Last night for VD, we had cheese and Schar baguette, grapes and brownies with vanilla ice cream... -
Why not just show her this? I think you explain it very well here.

ARCHIVED Should Parents Of Celiac Children Be Diagnosed?
kareng replied to Dloi's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I'm not sure. Were you trying to reply to a specific post or thread? Rather than start a new topic? Anyway, I'll respond to 2 parts of this. Open Original Shared Link "What is the prevalence for others in my family to have celiac disease since I’ve been diagnosed with it? Celiac disease is an inherited autoimmune disease. ARCHIVED Has Celiac Affected Your Professional Life?
kareng replied to CK1901's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Sounds like you will go to a lot of nicer restaurants. The nicer places are more likely to understand and give you something gluten-free. For example, I went to a "business" Christmas lunch for my hub's work. We went to a nice place. They could tell me what to get and not get. Even gave me a different choice of dessert - berries with a flavored cream... -
ARCHIVED Pacificia Perfume
kareng replied to powerofpositivethinking's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I'm going to look for those. I like those types of fragrances - not the typical perfume smells. Also, its nice to have a brand I can give my husband and boys to look for for presents. When they were little, they always went to Bath & Body and smelled all the lotions & bubble baths. Then they would pick the bubble bath they wanted to use - usually... -
ARCHIVED Glucosamine And Vitamins
kareng replied to Lee uk's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
You wouldn't have a deficiency if the vitamin pill was being absorbed. So, in a way, it would cover up a deficiency. That is how it would work for anyone - Celiac or not. For example, If I take multi-vitamins and my iron, D, etc are good, I would probably keep taking the vitamin because things are good. And I want them to stay good. With Celiac, if... -
ARCHIVED Glucosamine And Vitamins
kareng replied to Lee uk's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Blood tests for celiac? I don't see how. Not eating gluten would effect them. -
I'm just saying....let's use a little common sense. If this stuff is correct....either everyone in the world is severely deficient in iodine because we don't leave yellow marks..... Or this " theory" has some problems.
