  1. Enjoy it, Janet. Happy Birthday!
  2. Happy Birthday, Tiffany!!
  3. Have yourself a HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
  4. What in Sam Hill am I supposed to say? I don't know who Sam is either. A long day is coming to an end, and I am heading off to bed after this post. Em, I changed my avatar last night. My current one is a recycled one from a couple of years ago, and shows a little p%$#@#. I don't know where your missing man image went. Laura, that PM was incredibly...
  5. At the rate he's going, he'll be nagging you for Humans by the end of the week.
  6. It's awfully quiet here this morning. Where is everybody?
  7. Although there are a few participants here who may exhibit a bias, the board is here to support everyone who follows a gluten-free diet, regardless of the reason. The owner of the board, Scott Adams, has celiac disease, as do I. For me, a gluten-free diet is not a lifestyle choice; it is essential for my survival. But anyone who comes here looking for support...
  8. I posted an explanation about my avatar; it is on the previous page (1508). It is a poppy. It is something we Canadians have deep feelings about, but it is little known elsewhere. And yes, my brother is famous.
  9. Canadian indeed. November 11 is the anniversary of the armistice that ended hostilities in World War I. The truce took effect at 11:00 am. We remember this every year on November 11. This date is Remembrance Day, and we wear poppies on our lapels (or wherever) as a symbol of the sacrifices made in that war, and every war since, for the freedom we enjoy...
  10. Tis a marvelous tale, and all of the places in it are real. The property that our parents used to own near Canandaigua, NY, is the setting from some scenes in this story, but I think that is in the second volume of the trilogy. Rob blends mystery into the science fiction genre, and there are a couple of mystery subplots. For more about his life and writings...
  11. Okay, Jess, maybe I misunderstood the circumstances. But Benjamin and cocaine go together. Maybe it is just because a lot of his portraits change hands in the course of commerce involving cocaine. In my youth, I never even had a $100 bill to do anyfing wif. Never had one. I would offer a Susie-style *snort* at this point, but with the current...
  12. I can only answer part of your question. I find that gluten-free pasta takes longer to cook, and becomes tougher when removed from the water. We use Glutino rice spaghetti. I can't tell you just how long it takes since I don't time it. I test the "doneness" regularly, and when it seems about right, I boil it for another two minutes. This seems to work for...
  13. Gee, Em, how about that ten dollar note you got in change today from the cashier at the grocery store? It likely came from another customer. Do you know where that bill has been? It is a fact that almost all US $100 bills test positive for cocaine. They are rolled into a tube, stuck into the nostril, and used to snort coke. I'm sure Benjamin had no...
  14. Well, based on a sample of one, a woman with whom I worked many years ago (Jimmy Carter was in the White House), Linda Smythe pronounced her name with a looong I sound: Sm-eye-th.
  15. You are not alone. Ho! Ho! Ho! We are at the store setting up the Christmas merchandise. This is definitely not Christmas weather. Sixty degrees F and quite nice.
  16. Hey, whatever grabs your fancy...
  17. Sarah, good to hear from you. Amanda, more waiting. Just a quick post so everybody knows I'm still around.
  18. As do I. The operative word in your conversation with them is guarantee. Since they obtain ingredients from outside sources, they are not prepared to accept the legal liability that would be created by a guarantee. In today's overly litigious society, they have little option. I trust them.
  19. Yippee! Susie managed to vote. :) Ashley voted too, for the first time! She just turned 18 recently. :) As I post this, results are coming in. This will be an historic night, no matter who wins.
  20. Happy Birthday BEVERLY!!
  21. Hey, Ash, you're a natural here. Good to see you back. Yep, I've driven to all 49 continental states. Had to pass through several provinces and Yukon Territory to reach Alaska via the Alaska Highway in 1994. I visited Hawaii in 1989, but you can't drive there--we flew from LAX to Honolulu, and flew back to SFO. Convoluted route back to Toronto...
  22. Probably New Brunswick, there are a lot of call centers in that province. I did finally end up talking with someone in Toronto who knew what was actually going on, but that was only the last four minutes of the call.
  23. Hmm, well that needs a qualified answer. From July of 1994 through the end of March, 1999, the answer was that we had driven to all ten provinces and both territories. Then, on April 1, 1999, the Northwest Territories was divided (again, that's how Yukon came to be in 1898), splitting off the eastern half as Nunavut. I have never been to Nunavut, and you...
  24. Okay, so it is time for some maths. Rounding to integers: 120 kmh = 74 mph 70 mph = 113 kmh So Canucks drive a bit faster than Brits. Of course, we also drive on the correct right side of the road.
