1. The rule in Canada is that if a product does not normally contain gluten, then you can not label your version of that product "gluten-free." That would be considered misleading, as it might imply that some similar products contain gluten. As a result, fruits and vegetables, meats, milk, butter, margarine, and cheese, among other things, can not be labeled...
2. Six characters is tight. IM gluten-free gluten-free 4 ME CELIAC The auto substitition won't let me post the two letters that are gee followed immediately by eff. Put those letters in place of the words gluten-free above to understand what I mean.
3. Canada has very strict rules about what can be labeled, or represented as, "gluten free." They cover what the product may contain, but also prohibit the use of the label on any product which is inherently gluten-free, such as margarine. The US currently does not have a definition that is backed by law or regulation. Proposed regulations are being discussed...
4. I have an impressive collection of tools. Use the "Full Edit" option. Under the window, at Edit Options, check the box to add 'Edit by'. Jess, your poem is wonderful.
5. There are lots of mainstream food products that are safe for us to eat. You will need to read labels carefully on everything. I'm quoting below a post from Laura that has some useful links to learn which companies have labeling policies that they will disclose all gluten (Kraft is one). Not everything these companies make is gluten-free, but you just need...
6. I don't see any promotion of a diet as a basic tenet in this topic. Nothing on this topic violates any board rules here. You are free to disagree with anyone's post, but they have the right to post their ideas and beliefs.
7. JoAnn, PMs are not saved automatically. When you send a PM, or reply to one, there are some options available on the screen under the box where you compose the message. One of them is to save a copy in your sent folder. The other one is to track the message. Neither one is selected by default. So, if you didn't check the box beside "Save," the message...
8. 2009 is here, at least where I am. HAPPY NEW YEAR!
9. OMG! a pserious psugar influx. Don't make a habit of it, but once in a while you can get away with a phlood of psugar. It isn't so with gluten, don't ya know? 33 minutes until 2009...
10. It is news to me that "All pills have lactose in them." Do you mean all pills, or are you only referring to oral contraceptives? As to the original question, I suppose it depends on which component of dairy you are sensitive to. Lactose is milk sugar, and it can be present without the milk protein, casein. A person can be intolerant to casein...
11. This has been a challenge for us, too, in recent years. I'm using my notebook on the couch with the TV muted. CNN is showing the "highlights" of 2008. That should take about 28 seconds. When they get to the lowlights, well, there may not be enough time left in the year to hit all of them. 2009 is going to be better. It can't be any worse. ...
12. It is very quiet here in psillyville tonight, and very cold here in Markham. The low tonight is forecast at -16C (3F). Brrrr! Happy New Year!
13. Tis a quarter past seven here, so the lasagna will be coming out of the oven in about five minutes. Froth away!
14. Duh, what's a blankie. I had still have a small stuffed bear, about four inches tall. He is blind, since my mother pulled his eyes out so I would not choke on them.
15. There is a lot of good information to be found online. There is also a lot of utter garbage on the 'net. Be careful, and investigate before you act.
16. Images can not be posted here directly. You can post them on a host such as Open Original Shared Link and then post links to them here using the url bb tag. The code for the link above is: Photo Bucket
17. Where is everybody? It is very quiet tonight. Emily is watching hockey. Nikki has gone to bed. I am typing at my keyboard. Where are the other sillies? Rasputin as code-name for A$$HAT David:
18. Try Ktoos by Kinnikinnick. They look and taste like Oreos. Available in some stores, and online at longest-river-in-South-America dot com.
19. Hmmm, he's randy but not Randolph...Rasputin!
20. Click here to have a peek at it.
21. Randolph? (Would Susie like a man who is randy?)
22. I'm back. I have been reading up when I got a chance, but haven't had much time. The season went on longer than originally planned with another family event this evening. Tomorrow should be a quiet day to unwind. Or, to catch up on chores at home that have been neglected for the last month. Susie, things sound interesting for you at the moment...
