  1. Dangerous times. I'm working on it even as I type this. I already had to spend almost two hours this afternoon to undo what one wrong mouse click caused. Yes, welcome to the land of the Psillies. Click here to see my balls. This is post 1,999.
  2. Sbj is correct. There is no regulatory definition by the FDA of "gluten-free." Canada has strict rules about the ingredients in "gluten-free" products, but even those apply only to ingredients intentionally in the product. In both Canada and the US, labels regarding shared equipment, or shared facilities, are completely voluntary. So, just because you...
  3. Testing in young children is often problematic. Results may or may not be accurate, and it is hard to know. In cases like this, the answer is "maybe."
  4. I knew there was one missing, but I couldn't come up with it for the life of me.
  5. And speaking of baffling pronunciation anomalies in English, why do none of these words rhyme with any of the others? bough rough through trough
  6. Due to an error on my part, this topic has been invisible for almost two hours. It is now back. I apologize for the inconvenience.
  7. From the Canadian Celiac Association Pocket Guide:
  8. So, is Voice of Fire a red stripe on a blue background, or is it two blue stripes on a red background? Inquiring minds want to know. On a related query, what coloUr is the Canadian flag? The heraldic description is I think that decodes as white with two red stripes and a maple leaf, which also happens to be red. I'm too tired to work out either...
  9. Check out my current avatar! I have never encountered an olive, pimento-stuffed or not, that contained gluten. It's just not something I worry about. Enjoy!
  10. You should do this, but do not partake of the host, as it is a source of gluten. The blood wine must not be wasted, so drink as much as you can from the chalice. If you don't, then the celebrant priest must finish it himself. We would not want an inebriated priest, would we?
  11. There was a thread on this topic a couple of years ago. Click here to read it.
  12. They appeared right after the service interruption last evening. I don't have a phacebook page, and I see them. Name changes can be corn-phusing. Momma Goose used to be somebody else.
  13. Plain meats are safe--it is the seasonings in prepared meat that could be a problem. Plain vegetables and fruits are inherently gluten-free. Choose the ones you like, and add only seasonings you know are safe. Pure herbs and spices are gluten-free. Avoid prepared seasoning mixes. Butter and margarine are gluten-free. A baked potato is easy to make and...
  14. His first state visit is going to be Canada, and here, at this time of year, in some places, you can walk on water. You gotta be very careful though, cuz on some of the lakes the ice is really thin. Chilly, Freezy, Careful, Weezie.
  15. The Oracle is puzzled (soozzled?) by this. When I look at the top of page 1800, this post by Curly Lisa is what I see. If there were some posts marked invisible, then my view as a moderator would include them, while non-moderators would not see them. But my summary view says that there are no such posts in this topic, so we should all be seeing the same thing...
  16. I see her reading as I post this. Hi, Susie!
  17. From the Canadian Celiac Association Pocket Guide:
  18. Yikes! Keep us in the loop as best you can. I'm thinking of you and your family.
  19. Only twenty-four more hours til W.
  20. Well, it depends. Here in Ontario, if you work in a provincially regulated non-union workplace, then the third Monday in February is Family Day. It was first observed in 2008. Federally regulated workplaces are not covered by the legislation, but some companies, such as banks, close. Many unionized workers do not get it off, because the collective agreement...
  21. All eggs are gluten-free. You have stumbled onto the reason why, in Canada, it is illegal to label a food which is inherently gluten-free as being "gluten-free."
  22. Susie, tabbies are not evil; most of them are gentle loving creatures. Now if you want a cat with Attitude, look into a tortoiseshell.
  23. OMG! Here we are on page 1810--another ten pages in less than twenty hours since Lisa's ascension.
