  1. People, I have been following this discussion closely since its inception. As moderator, it is my feeling that the discussion has run its course and has resulted in two sides with irreconcilable differences. I think that we should leave it at that and move on. Continuing what is quickly becoming an argument will not benefit any of us.
  2. Back in 2000, when I was diagnosed, the blood tests were still very new and were not commonly done. I had the endoscopy and biopsy, which was covered by OHIP.
  3. Hi. There are a number of Canadians on here. I'm in Toronto here at work.
  4. Pure maple syrup is gluten-free. No doubt about it.
  5. Remember when this topic, which is in the "Doctors" section of the board, actually was talking about doctors?
  6. Good morning, pholks! Just a quick drive-by... I'll be back later.
  7. Happy birthday, Patti!! :)
  8. And make sure you stick to red. Almost all are lower in residual sugar and higher in alcohol content.
  9. Maybe I should give up smoking. It should be easy...I haven't lit my pipe since 1990.
  10. Hypertension is the medical term for abnormally high blood pressure.
  11. The answer that you got is becoming more and more common. Because of potential legal liability concerns, most companies will not make any guarantees against inadvertent contamination by a third party. I haven't used Sudafed in years--it does horrid things to my blood pressure. But I do believe that it is gluten-free and safe for celiacs who do not have...
  12. Good morning! Just made it in time to be able to say that. Sunny and cold here in Toronto today. Now this your Oracle wants to know: Why does plow not rhyme with snow?
  13. Don't believe everything you read. There is a lot of misinformation about the gluten-free diet. There is also information based on what was believed to be true twenty or more years ago, but which is now known to be false. Guar gum is gluten-free. Period. Caramel color, at least in North America, is always made from corn. I posted over two years ago...
  14. For most of us, distilled vinegar is safe. A few react when the source is a gluten grain, but it is generally accepted that distillation renders the end product gluten-free. The vinegar that is a no-no is malt vinegar. It will always be labeled as such.
  15. This is definitely not a good thing. The process is complex, and disk storage is complex. You are getting far enough that the lowest level, the BIOS, is recognizing your hard drive at the physical level, and can read the boot sector from it. But then it finds a problem with either the partition table (divides the single physical disk into one or more logical...
  16. This has been a good discussion about the MMR vaccine. There has been much said about the three diseases it is focused on developing immunity to. We should talk about them. The Hepatitis vaccine is a different vaccine, dealing with a different disease. I am not trying to censor anything--a discussion on that topic is welcome. But it is of dubious relevance...
  17. Newbie! Newbie! My first post wuz on page 317.
  18. Cutting things a little close for comfort, perhaps? It's been a slice.
  19. When I was diagnosed, over eight years ago, the blood testing was just not where it is today. I had an endoscopy with biopsy, and was given a definite diagnosis of celiac disease. I had a colonoscopy at the same time which found nothing, ruling out other possible causes of my distress. Acceptance of the blood tests is growing, but the positive biopsy is...
  20. Hmm, this is an intense discussion, even here. I looked in and read, but now I just think it might have been better not to be here right now. A brief observation... Not up to a lengthy dissertation... Uneven, um, hanging orbs are normal, as are other items being angled slightly to one side or the other. I don't have a compass handy, but I am sitting...
  21. Open Original Shared Link is what is being referred to, I think.
  22. This section of the board is titled Gab/Chat Room - To Discuss Anything BUT Celiac Disease / Gluten-Free Diet, so this topic is fine here. But it is about a specific doctor (Wakefield) and a specific vaccine (MMR). A discussion about the Hepatitis vaccine belongs in a topic of its own in this section, if somebody wants to start one.
  23. Jerry, it is a fact that the experts who testify on court cases are vary rarely doing so out of the goodness of their hearts. The investigation takes time, and the court appearance also takes time. These professionals, like all professionals, charge fees for their services. The phrase "billable hours" comes to mind, and it is not just lawyers that it applies...
  24. And, going to the dogs, oops, I mean, getting serious... Michelle is in Dawson City where there is a 36 hour mandatory layover. She was in 7th place on her arrival. Some snow on the ground here, but a lot less than was originally expected.
  25. While the actual content of this thread is fine, I have modified the topic title to better reflect what the discussion is about.
