  1. Lipitor is gluten-free as of when I last checked. If it weren't, I think I would have noticed--I have been taking it daily for about three years.
  2. Individual members can edit their own posts for 48 hours after making them, but can not delete them. If there is a desire by the original poster to have the topic removed, let a moderator know and one of us can make the entire thread invisible, pending deletion by the board administrator.
  3. Um, maybe she meant to say male merging. You are merging your male, aren't you?
  4. As described to me by the GI who did my 2000 endoscopy, the walls of the small intestine should appear like a carpet, with the villi being the nap of the rug. My intestinal walls were smooth. He took tissue samples and the analysis was done, but he said that he knew what the result was going to be. When you can see the damage visually, things are far advanced...
  5. Hi, Alex! Good to see you around. I can't offer any advice on your question, though. I haven't traveled outside North America since my diagnosis.
  6. Um, I'm about 2,600 miles away. Will a cyber-hug do?
  7. Different people heal at different rates, and the time is influenced by the amount of damage to the intestinal wall. In my own case, the symptoms gradually abated. It took about six weeks for most of them to clear up, but it was about three months before I felt normal again. I had severe damage to my villi. I did notice some improvement after about a week...
  8. Good Morning. Tis sunny and mild here in Markham. You have ears? I don't see any ears in either picture. You're making this up.
  9. Janet, if you are being stalked by birds, perhaps what you need is: =^..^= Meow Everyone's life can be improved by a kitty.
  10. A couple of posts here have asked about the rules of the board. Everybody agreed to the rules, found here, when they joined the board. This is from my perspective as a moderator: There is no rule against talking about religion, but please keep in mind that such discussions can easily become impassioned. This is in the Meeting Room, and the subject clearly...
  11. Cleaning a toaster of gluten is next to impossible. Buy a new one, and use it exclusively for gluten-free products.
  12. If you have symptomatic celiac disease, it will take time for the villi to heal. Some people experience a reduction in symptoms immediately, but for most it takes some time. My own symptoms gradually subsided over a period of about six weeks. I noticed improvement within a week, but it was not dramatic. Two days is just not enough time if you have intestinal...
  13. The Canadian Food Inspection Agency says another 30 food products "may be contaminated" with salmonella because they contain peanut products that have been recalled by the Peanut Corporation of America. Open Original Shared Link The list includes: Glutino Gluten free Organic Bars chocolate & peanuts 5 x 28 g bars (140 g) UPC: 6 78523 03095 0 Batch...
  14. Click here for a recent thread about caramel color.
  15. FDA labeling rules apply to all foods sold in the United States, regardless of the country of origin of the product or any ingredients in the product. Wheat would have to be disclosed.

ARCHIVED Group Letter to Dr. Fine

Gentleheart provided the information on how to find it. I have made it into a clickable link: I don't think it would be appropriate to copy the material here. If Dr. Fine wishes to join our board and post it himself that would be different. But anyone here can click on the link and see the information on his site. Open Original Shared Link
  17. He was talked about some while back, likely before you started participating here. You were supposed to go back and read what you missed. I don't want to put his name here, or all kinds of strange search engine hits will pick up this thread. Open Original Shared Link
  18. So, this reminded me of something. You know my brother is a science-fiction novelist. He wrote a trilogy about a parallel universe where the Neanderthals prevailed and Homo Sapiens died out. A portal opens between Earth and its parallel. The Neanderthal society has no religion, and no concept of a deity. Their language is alien, and communication is only...
  19. Good morning, all. No new snow overnight.
  20. I have had the pretzels, although not recently. We use a lot of Glutino products and I have never had a problem with them. They are all gluten-free, but some contain other ingredients which may be problematic for some of us. The Gluten-Free Pantry is owned by Glutino. Glutino is owned by Steven Singer, and he is committed to providing products to the...
  21. Fiddle-Faddle, you state that, in the US, gluten-free means less than 200 ppm. My question was about the basis of that statement. As far as I know, the FDA has yet to establish a regulation about the designation "gluten-free," so how are we to know that the limit is 200 ppm. Maybe there is no established limit yet (my understanding). It could end up at...
  22. No, you don't. Rum and Coke makes an excellent, gluten-free alternative.
  23. Can you provide your source for this, please. Although directed by law to develop a definition for "gluten-free" the last I knew the FDA had not yet done so, so "gluten-free" meant whatever the company using the term wanted it to mean. Various levels have been talked about. A limit level will be necessary, because to enforce a rule there must be a way...
  24. Um, didn't I get into enough of a Special Calamitous Disaster already today?
