  1. Okay, I'm just back on. Right after I posted the driving directions, the internet connection at the store crashed. Again. The problem is on their end, which I strongly suspected before I even called India for support. They are "working on it." I'm at home now, catching up. Patti's directions were easy to give--a memory dump...
  2. Syracuse is about a four-hour drive from here, exclusive of delay time at the border. Take I-90 west to I-290 to I-190 north and cross at Queenston/Lewiston. Then take Hwy 405 to the Queen Elizabeth Way (QEW). Follow the QEW around the west end of the lake, then take Hwy 403 to Hwy 401 East. Get off at Yonge St, and go south 1.8 miles and turn right...
  3. Hmm, it must be your birthday present! Happy birthday, Em!!
  4. I was wondering the same thing.
  5. Um, comments about cute cats are never off topic here.
  6. It didn't slip by--I'm a few minutes early. It is almost Sunday here...
  7. Happy birthday to Momma Goose!
  8. My wife and I own a retail business. Any employee who treated a customer like that once would be very strongly cautioned. If they did it a second time, they would be instantly unemployed. The customers are not an interruption to our business, they are our business.
  9. I won't quote any particular post, but emotions seem to be heating up and antagonism is making an appearance from time to time. Consider what you are saying to other members, and keep in mind: Disagree with a person's opinion, challenge their alleged facts, but do *not* attack the person, either directly or by innuendo.
  10. No, do not assume it is contaminated. There is a *risk* of contamination that you must assess before making your decision, which will be a personal one that is right for *you*. Before you reject the product, here are some things to consider. The equipment should be cleaned between product runs. What type of product are we looking at? How much wheat...
  11. My biopsy was done just days before my 46th birthday. I was in desperate shape, having lost about 70 pounds, down to almost skin and bones. I still have residual issues, such as osteoporosis, but my intestines have healed and, on the whole, I feel the best that I have in decades. It is never too late.
  12. The epinephrine is a general stimulant which dilates the bronchi and stimulates the heart . It is similar to adrenaline. For a person in general good health it should not be a problem. If a person is already predisposed to heart trouble, it can trigger a myocardial infarction (heart attack), as it causes blood pressure to rise.
  13. Aw, Bev, I'm sorry to hear about your loss. Ptaughm, great news! Emily, you have got to stop getting into those barroom dust-ups!
  14. Well, my phirst thought was that LL might be Heidi Collins, but there were too many things that didn't fit for her. I also thought of Elisabeth Hasselbeck, but again, the known facts did not fit. So, I'm out of ideas. A married female TV personality with celiac disease. I'm drawing a blank here.
  15. A quick visit; my reading is up-to-date. Nothing silly to add at the moment.
  16. I believe that the magnitude of the immune response is proportional to the amount of gluten ingested. So, no, I would definitely not consider any extra gluten to be "free." It seems that there is a minimal level below which the autoimmune response is not triggered, but once the trigger level has been hit, additional gluten magnifies the response. I have no...
  17. Hi, Molly! It is great to hear from you.
  18. In the title bar for the topic is a pull-down button labeled options. Click it, and choose standard as the display mode.
  19. Hi, all! We had Jacquie's parents and sister over for Thanksgiving dinner tonight. They left about 20 minutes ago. SO much food. Turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes, mixed vegetables, garlic toast, wax beans, and pumpkin pie for dessert. Watch for a post about the pie in the recipe forum from WardGirl. She's upstairs on her computer now...
  20. Oracles hugged: Zero Phrezno-ites still loved anyway: One
  21. Okay, folks, I posted about us at the beginning. Now, let's look at the extended family. My parents have a dishwasher. My two brothers both have dishwashers. Jacquie's three siblings all have them, as do her parents. So, it is 100% dishwashers in our extended family. We have a gluten-free house, but we usually rinse dishes before putting them...
  22. Gina, this is going to be a mixed response. I am in Canada, where I was a Scout volunteer for decades. I served as the Council Commissioner for Toronto from 1993 until 1996. Did his Scoutmaster know about his needs? If so, then he should have taken every step needed to accommodate those needs. If he knew, and failed to communicate those needs to...
  23. I quit for good in April of 1990, long before my diagnosis of celiac. I had smoked off and on (mostly on) for twenty years. You have decided to do it. That is the most important thing. Nobody is trying to force you: YOU WANT TO DO IT. It is something you want to do. If you keep your mind on this, you will prevail. I'm pulling for you. If you want to...
