ARCHIVED Are Chronic Headaches A Symptom Of Celiac?
psawyer replied to Shwem's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
My headaches, which were frequent and sometimes debilitating, went away when I went on the gluten-free diet. -

ARCHIVED Hot Dog Question
psawyer replied to crittermom's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Hebrew National are gluten-free. As far as I know, the only hot dogs in the US that are not gluten-free are Nathan's. -
ARCHIVED Should You Thank The Catholic Church?
psawyer replied to Alexolua's topic in Publications & Publicity
Steve is indeed very knowledgeable. He seems to distrust companies and institutions, including the Church, believing that they are all lying. I don't know how he came to have these beliefs, but my sense is that at some point in the past he has been deeply hurt. He can be blunt at times, but his points are well researched and have merit. -
ARCHIVED Migraines
psawyer replied to jeanbean's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I had severe migraines for years. A couple of years after going gluten-free due to celiac disease, I read something about the connection and realized: Hey, I haven't had one since I went gluten-free. I have been off gluten for seven and a half years, and not one migraine in that time. Yay! -

I have an English background, as do my in-laws. I know many of the strange words and expressions they use "over the pond." But I'll be darned if I know why they confuse a knitted garment with an electrical cable that has clamps on each end. And skinnies, well, at the nadir of my descent into uncontrolled celiac hell my weight dropped to just a little... -
ARCHIVED Celiac And Now Just Dx. W/diabetes
psawyer replied to JustJust's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Hi. I'm sorry to hear this. First, let me say that there are a number of us here with both celiac disease and diabetes. There are two distinct types of diabetes. Type 1 is an autoimmune disease where the antibodies attack the islets of Langerhans, a part of the pancreas responsible for manufacturing insulin. Unlike the villi, the islets do not regenerate... -
ARCHIVED Mustard Flour Vs Mustard Seeds
psawyer replied to Motorboater's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
They are mustard seeds before they are ground up, and once ground to a powder, they become mustard flour. Don't let the word flour when attached to a specific grain source (except wheat) be a worry. Mustard flour, rice flour, potato flour, tapioca flour and many others are gluten free. -

So, today's flurry of excitement over reports of Sarah being pregnant leaves me feeling compelled to share this little story. As you know, Jacquie and I run a retail store. One of our employees is named Sarah. In mid-December, Sarah mentions to us that she had been feeling kind of yucky, lack of appetite and nausea in the morning. Jacquie jokingly asked... -
ARCHIVED Old El Paso Taco Seasoning?
psawyer replied to blondebombshell's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Old El Paso is a company that adheres to a strict gluten disclosure policy. If any of the gluten grains are present in the product they will be named in the ingredient list. If didn't see wheat, rye, barley or oats named, then they are not there. -

psawyer replied to elye's topic in Board/Forum Technical Help
Emily, in the version you saw today, what you were seeing with those square brackets is the raw BBCode format tags. For those who are familiar with BBCode, it is possible to do things in that mode that are difficult or impossible to achevieve in the other mode. Open Original Shared Link Even in the "normal" mode you can insert BBCode tags. I do it all... -

I have stayed at the Fairmont in San Jose several times but I never checked out the ladies' room. It was an "approved" hotel for business travel when I worked for Hitiachi and had to visit the Santa Clara office. A nice hotel in an iffy neighboUrhood. Go out the front and turn right--okay. Any other direction, watch your @$$! -
ARCHIVED Mr. Smith Goes To Washington
psawyer replied to HAK1031's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Like the others before me, I have seen this movie, but it has been a very long time and I don't remember details. I have a vivid image of Senator Smith's filibuster, but not much else. -
ARCHIVED Should You Thank The Catholic Church?
psawyer replied to Alexolua's topic in Publications & Publicity
I don't think that there is any flexibility in the Roman Catholic Church's position on this. If you want to send your comments to the only person who can make a difference, send them to Pope Benedict at: benedictxvi@vatican.va I am not m making this up. -

I don't understand this behavior. I start every day with fresh socks and underwear. Sometimes if I get all sweaty and shower in the afternoon I start over with a second set on the same day. We've been married over 26 years and I still exhibit some bachelor behavior in the kitchen to minimize what needs to be washed (and we have a dishwasher), but not... -

Some companies will state on the label if the facility or equipment is shared. Such labeling is voluntary. They include: Arrowhead Mills, Aunt Nelly's, Balance, Baskin Robbins, Ben & Jerry, Bertoli, Betty Crocker... -
ARCHIVED I'm Pissed!

By law, wheat must be labeled. This is a law passed by Congress, which took effect more than two years ago, known as FALCPA (Food Allergy Labeling and Consumer Protection Act). It requires the clear disclosure of the top eight allergens: wheat, milk, soy, peanuts, tree nuts, seafood, egg and shellfish. The disclosure can be either in the ingredients list... -

Emily, you need to move to the UK, where you would weigh only 9.5 stones! I weigh only 13 stones myself. For those of you wondering, the stone is a unit of weight used in the United Kingdom, mostly for the weight of people. It is 14 pounds, or 6.36 kilograms. -

Well, you could look into the thread to find the answer. Jess (jestgar) became Queen on January 4 of this year. She succeeded Tom (tom), who became King on December 3, 2007, succeeding Amanda (blueeyedmanda), crowned on October 27, replacing Beverly (mtndog), who became our leader on October 8, 2007. The answer is there to be found for those... -

I posted the name earlier today, but Open Original Shared Link The brush is midway down the page. If you Google the name, it is sold online, but it is probably available in many pet specialty retailers. -
I use FireFox and have never seen a problem like this. I am presently using 2.0.0.11 so perhaps if you upgrade to that level it will solve the problem. In the browser, click the Help item in the top toolbar, then click on "check for updates."

It is made by Benedent and is called the Tiple-Pet Toothbrush. They also make toothpaste (for dogs) under the Triple-Pet name. A single package containing a tube of toothpaste and a brush is also available. Google "Triple-Pet Toothbrush" to find lots of places that sell them online. -
Emily, I only just saw this topic now. I don't know how I missed it last night, but I'm glad to hear you have beaten the devilish machine.
