ARCHIVED Annie's Naturals Bbq Sauces
rmmadden replied to a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I just bought both the original and smokey maple Annie's BBQ sauce at our local health food store. They were actually having a sale on it so I stocked up for the summer BBQ season. Both bottles are clearly marked Gluten Free....... Cleveland Bob -
ARCHIVED Brainstorm My Pain-please !
rmmadden replied to jenvan's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
If you suspect a liver or gallbladder problem you could try doing a liver/gallbladder flush. I bought such a thing from Dr. Shulze's line of herbal remedy products and it is supposed to flush-out toxins from your liver/gallbladder and blood. People who have had these type problems swear that they go away after taking this product (even those who were slated... -
Jennifer, I get the chest ache on the left pectoral leading down into my armpit. Most of the times it is just an ache but occassionally I will get a momentarily sharp pain. I went to the doctor and wore a heart monitor and everything is normal. I take my BP daily (which is good) and exercise regularly and have never been short-of-breath (This is how...

ARCHIVED Uh Oh- I've Been Glutened
rmmadden replied to Eliza13's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
A few possible thoughts on the cod...... Some people are allergic to white fish? Maybe you just got a bad batch (Bacteria, etc)? Perhaps it came into cross-contamination with something? Was it cooked in a vessel that may have had traces of gluten in it? I have been eating baked cod quite a bit over the past 4-5months and have not had any problems... -
ARCHIVED Cd People W/ Acid Reflux & Gastritis
rmmadden replied to rmmadden's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Thanks everyone...You people are awesome! It's comforting to know that I am not alone in my symptoms. This forum is very much like therapy for me and I appreciate all your input. I have elevated my bed and don't eat anything after dinner to prevent acid build-up at bedtime. I hope to be able to get on top of the gastritis/reflux and eliminate a few symptoms... -
Not having a reaction to eating oats or other gluten food does not indicate it's safe. Damage is being done on the inside regardless of symptoms and over time will get to the point where symptoms/reactions do occur. I had no symptoms at all for 36-years and then boom......I'm Celiac. I used to make Monster Cookies and would love to eat them again but...

ARCHIVED York Lab-elisa Foodscan
rmmadden replied to Kasey'sMom's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I have taken the test (actually twice as they lost my first sample) and am awaiting the results (They are very, very SLOW!). I was wondering the same thing......If something else that I am eating is keeping me from feeling better and possibly slowing down the healing process. I hope to find out soon. Best of luck! Cleveland Bob -
Hello to any/all celiac disease Patients who also have Acid Reflux and Gastritis (As I Do). I am interested in finding out how you feel on a day-to-day basis? I was diagnosed with Acid Reflux in Aug. ARCHIVED Congratulations To Me!
rmmadden replied to cdford's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Congratulations and best wishes for continued success! Cleveland Bob -
I have eaten at Red Lobster and didn't have any problems. I told my server the reason why I was asking so many questions and had her double-check a few items before ordering (Stay away from the soup as they use a roux when making the Clam Chowder). I ended up eating a salad (no crutons) with Olive Oil, Baked Shrimp Scampi, Baked Scallops and a Baked Potato...

ARCHIVED Any Gluten Free Ice Creams?
rmmadden replied to PreOptMegs's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Anyone know if Klondike Bars are gluten-free? I saw a variety that has Hershey's Chocolate (which we know is gluten-free). Just curious if anyone has eaten these? Thanks, Cleveland Bob -
ARCHIVED Light Headedness
rmmadden replied to mmm's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Definitely Yes! It does get better over time with being on the gluten-free diet. -
ARCHIVED Frozen Chicken In Grocery Store
rmmadden posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I have had a taste for chicken wings and was looking at the frozen bag in our local Giant Eagle grocery store and noticed the ingredients say up to 15% broth added. I then started picking up other frozen chicken items and they say the same thing. I know everyone is different in how they react but has anyone eaten these things and what happened to you... -
ARCHIVED Iron Supplements And Insomnia
rmmadden replied to uclangel422's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
You can also try Melatonin which you can find at your local health food store. It won't put you to sleep but once you fall to sleep it helps keep you relaxed and can help you sleep better. Start by taking one 3mg capsul about 1/2 hour before bed. You can take up to 4 capsuls max but note that some people have to switch varities of Melatonin before seeing... -
ARCHIVED Why Does It Hurt So Much?
rmmadden replied to missla3000's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
It's tough when you're not feeling well but, the only thing you can do it wait it out. Time and being gluten-free are the only thing that is going to make us better. As you have heard each person is different so the healing times vary. Personally I didn't see much improvement until 3-months and I'm still not feeling 100%. Everytime we have a slip-up... -
ARCHIVED Could These Be Symptoms Too?
rmmadden replied to dfish's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I get the fatigue, dizzyness and heart racing sometimes too. I haven't quite figured out what causes the symptoms but it is usually in response to something I've eaten. I took the York Lab FoodScan test and am awaiting the results (They are very slow!) to see if I am alergic to anything else beside gluten/wheat. It's real easy to think positive when... -
ARCHIVED Heart Palpitations Caused By Foods?
rmmadden replied to Becky72's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
A timely question for me! I have been sick the last week from 2 different gluten episodes and I was wondering the same thing. I've had a few palpatations I think from getting glutened. I've noticed that my heart rate does go up but my blood pressure stays pretty normal. I've also noticed that when my gastritis is acting up then I get a stray beat. I... -
ARCHIVED Cat Scan
rmmadden replied to bklyn's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I say get the CAT scan. If it shows something then at least you know and can take steps to overcome it. If it comes up negative then that's one less thing for you to worry about. Best of Luck! Cleveland Bob -
ARCHIVED Pepsi
rmmadden replied to Ally2005's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I used to be a Pepsi drinker but got off the cola's because basically they are empty calories. If I have one now I feel the caffeine rush and the carbonation effects the gastritis in my stomach. Could you possibly have slight gastritis too? Cleveland Bob -
ARCHIVED Monosodium Glutamate
rmmadden replied to gabrielle's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I found out after going gluten-free that I am MSG sensitive. I get the shakes and a general off-feeling that takes about 1-hour to pass. I avoid MSG as best I can. Cleveland Bob -
"It's alright to cry and get discouraged. Although it might not feel like it now, you're gaining strength and knowledge everyday and this board can help you through the days when you forget that." This is one of the best quotes I have read on this forum. It sums-up pretty much how all of us feel at times. We all get frustrated and tired and wish for...

I was taking Prevacid and Lexapro but I'm off both. I now take Zantac as needed and the Lexapro made me feel like I was in a fog so I only took it 3-4 before I stopped. Basically I have learned to live with the symptoms and control my anxiety. Best of Luck! Cleveland Bob

My diagnosis also started off as Acid Reflux. I was on Prevacid for 5-months which took care of the heartburn but I was still feeling lousy. That's when I had the Endoscopy and they found the Celiac. I now take Zantac as needed and try to stay away from acidic & hard to digest foods. I know the chest feeling you describe and also thought in the beginning...

ARCHIVED Shampoo Ingredients
rmmadden posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I would like to please know what brands of shampoo people are using? I don't want to be using one that has gluten in it. I had one that said wheat protein and I threw it out but the ingredient list on most bottles makes no sense to me and I haven't gotten very good answers from any of the places I have called. Thanks! Cleveland Bob
