  1. Thanks for sharing your wonderful success story! The same thing happened with me after being so super strict for five months. My results are now in the "negative" range when they were overwhelmingly positive which is huge for me as I could not tell whether I had been glutened or not all along. I never did feel ill from gluten. It is fantastic knowing...
  2. I can relate! I have never had an obvious reaction to gluten so have found it tough. However, my very recent bloodwork shows my antibodies are now NEGATIVE rather than off the charts positive so I have been doing well! That is after five months of being uber strict so just keep on doing the very best you can!
  3. I have not read the books, either, but just wanted to add that I DID see seasoned rice vinegar lately in a specialty ethnic store that had "WHEAT" on the label. Just something to be aware of!
  4. Me, too! Glad you saw the humour in it. My husband was both amused and exasperated. At least the girl remained polite! This is typical of what our town is like when it comes to knowledge and awareness of gluten intolerance and celiac. Zip. Zilch. Zero.
  5. Did not do Friday's yet and it was yummy so worth mentioning (I love cooking for my sister and her family at her house): Seared Marinated Wild Boar with Plum Jus Herbed Braised Flageolet Beans Braised Swiss Chard with Roasted Chanterelles
  6. My husband wanted to try an experiment for me at our local McDonalds. For several reasons I just do not like fast food. Never did, never will. Anyway, he is a curious guy and drove to M's. We have heard we should not trust M's in our town and he wanted to find out why. The following is a paraphrase of his conversation: "Can you tell me whether your...
  7. BP crust is indeed Kinnickinnik - I asked. The crust is so far removed from a true pizza crust in my opinion so I make my own. I did have BP pizza once soon after my diagnosis and I thought it was ok but homemade rules, especially grilled on the barbecue for that lovely charred crust. Plus our BP is NOT careful when it comes to CC I found out after having...
  8. Oh, I eat out for fun alright! Just very rarely for a treat. I find that fine dining restaurants cater to those with dietary restrictions far better than casual spots as sauces, etc. are prepared without flours anyway and things like duck, lamb, pheasant, wild boar are naturally gluten-free anyway (which is wonderful as I am a gourmet foodie type). We...
  9. I'm glad. Lunch can be ho hum at times so it is nice to look at things differently! Oh, man. I am with you on the ice cream. I could polish a pint off quickly, too, but am exercising my new lactose restraints! Plus I am making a huge effort to decrease my cholesterol and incorporate more grains, legumes and so on.
  10. Thanks, Sylvia. I enjoy reading about your pizza adventures!!
  11. Aw...that is really sweet of you! Unfortunately I will not be posting for two days as I will be away Thursday and Friday but will be sure to again Saturday! In Autumn when it is cooler (our leaves are actually falling off the trees already) and then in Winter I make yummier heartier meals such as osso bucco. Can't wait! We do not have A/C so I melt...
  12. Buckwheat Pasta with Marinara Sauce (all scratch, as usual) Zucchini Matchsticks with Crispy Garlic Saskatoon Vinaigrette Tequila Lime Marinated Cherry Tomatoes (from the garden)
  13. That's awesome - glad you liked it. Potatoes make such a great vehicles. How big was your square of chocolate? Hmmmm?? Kidding...you probably exercise more restraint than I.
  14. All the nori I have seen thus far is gluten-free BUT I live in Canada so there could be a difference.
  15. Oh, I am so sorry you have to go through all this. I can relate. I was very healthy (or at leaest FELT) healthy up until 3 1/2 years ago when I was involved in an accident causing herniated discs and so on. Then I was diagnosed with IT band syndrome, degenerative disc disease, osteoarthritis and celiac disease followed by fibromyalgia. Add to the mix...
  16. I just returned to post the same suggestion. Sorry to hijack the thread, everyone!
  17. Would you mind telling me what helped your FMS? My fibro is constantly severe - it even hurts to wear clothes. If I lie on a wrinkled sheet I must get up and flatten it. Ouch! I have seen chronic pain docs and so on but nothing has even remotely helped yet...
  18. That could very well be. Shared lines are tricky things. And of course products can vary from country to country. Almost all vinegar is safe but as I discovered not all of it is. However, the bottles I saw were specialty items at an ethnic food store. No matter what it is still wise to always read the labels even though it seems safe. And as we all...
  19. I agree! It is rather odd. However, as I mentioned above, a few weeks ago I did see a few brands of rice wine vinegar that had "contains wheat" on the bottle.
  20. There are no safe restaurants within three hours' drive from here so we rarely eat out. I would personally never eat at fast food restaurants but I am super diligent. When we do take the longish three hour+ trek I call and speak to the chef in advance. If not satisfied with the answers I absolutely will not eat there. But I love to cook!
  21. My FMS is pretty severe so I understand your woes. Glad you stopped by! Hope to "talk" to you later...
  22. OK. Dinner is over. This is the truffle cake recipe - I would just add ganache if feeling decadent but have not done so for awhile as I have recently discovered my cholesterol is very high. Open Original Shared Link Though not chocolate these are good...Salted Coconut Almond Cupcakes... Open Original Shared Link
  23. I have a rich and decadent truffle cake with ganache that might be what you are looking for! Will do a bit of looking and post it after dinner...
  24. Perhaps you are going through gluten withdrawal like many of us have. It took about three weeks after going gluten-free for me to stop feeling ill (headaches, cramping, dizziness and so on). Try to hang in there! It will pass. No clue what those special brownies or cookies are...
