  1. Bummer. I didn't know that they were gluten-free safe this whole time...too late.
  2. Well...what the heck? Why...on earth...would they use barley water??????? Omg, are companies just trying to do the bare minimum to get the gluten-free seal? Don't they know that they could drastically increase their sales if they didn't do stuff like that? Sorry, I'm a bit beside myself now..... So I am a little confused. Does that mean that the 5ppm...
  3. Oh yes. I ditched the Rice Dream long ago! I drink Almond Breeze now. Yes, I seem to just...not feel as good...on gluten-free oatmeal. I quit it to be safe. As far as Udi's granola I am fairly certain of a gluten reaction, since I slowly went downhill everyday...then was better when I stopped. My reactions are NOT severe most of the time...like fogginess...
  4. Hi. Okay, so I learned that I react to gluten below 20ppm. I am basing that on the fact that I react to some gluten-free foods that are obviously allowed that much. I am trying to narrow down how many ppm that I react to. I seem to react to Udi's, so I'm wondering if anyone already knows how low they actually test? 10ppm? 5ppm? I reacted to the muffins...
  5. Oh Senokot...AWFUL STUFF! I remember those days, when I was trying to relieve myself. I hated it. I am not in your situation, bu to me...no wonder their is leakage! That stuff for me was just as bad as XLAX! The cramping and liquid diahrrea. It was gross. I would consider Miralax and talking with your doc about it. I know that docs put kids on Miralax...
  6. That's a hard place to be in. Our house went gluten -free, because mixed just wasn't working. I did notice a big difference in how I felt when we started being very careful with the gluten, but I did notice more difference after going gluten-free for all. Maybe some people could manage it, but we couldn't. It will also depend on the sensitivity level...
  7. I don't usually like peppers in my spice, but I seem to feel digestive issues after the Fox mix and ground onion. I also love the Italian Herb mix, but that might cause me slight distress...hard to tell cause I use it everyday. I have a drawer full of others but I have not used all of them. Thanks also for the gardening tips:)
  8. I used to have a high-end pet boutique that I sold a few years ago, and we carried the high-end brand of wheat free, gluten-free foods. My cat threw them all up. She is old and has liver disease. We resorted to a Purnina Indoor wet and dry because she keeps it down. Now I can't remember what brands were or are gluten free. I know that Wellness is, because...
  9. I wanted to quickly take an opportunity to thank all of you, and tell you that I luv ya! You are almost like extended family. You are always here when I need you, and when I go away and come back...you are always willing to help. Thank you for that:) I had an "unofficial" celiac disease diagnoses... with zero proof on paper. The little piddly handout...
  10. I may not be great in the diplomacy dept, but why can't you print off the info of rice dreams site? I bet you could print off hundred's of people's response the stuff from THIS site and slap that down in front of her. If she is catering to the gluten-free community then she needs to be aware that MOST of us are more sensitive than her!!!!!!!!!! She can...
  11. Might I also add into researching "gluten ataxia". I don't know a lot about it, but it is a disorder where gluten severly effects the brain and causes lesions. Maybe one of you know more about it?
  12. Just adding my 2 cents... My kids are not constipated, but I was sooo constipated since I was a kid. I was raised by my dad, so he never really noticed...and it wasn't an issue that I wanted to talk about. I could go for a week or 2 back then without a BM...more as an adult. As a kid, I didn't really know that it was a problem. In my late teens I started...
  13. I had genetic tests done for myself and my 2 boys, but with our seperate specialists. Mine also assessed "risk" along with the gene detection. I was really upset when both of my son's genetic test came back. It only showed that they have 1 gene and did not assess risk...with alelles...and all of the more detailed stuff that I don't understand. I don't think...
  14. Bad reactions for me on Rice Dream!!!!!!!! I didn't know why I kept feeling worse everyday while I was drinking it. I saw somewhere that they process it with barley from other people with celiac disease or gluten allergies. There was a website bashing it. I forgot about it by the time I was drinking it. Then I remembered...oh yeah. I decided after getting...
  15. I'm still keeping an eye on my children, but their tests for celiac disease were negative too. I'm not sure that I believe that. However if this helps...I have been "unofficially" diagnosed with celiac disease in the past 2 yrs. Before that...Hashimoto's Thyroid. I am now perceived as having RA and possibly Lupus. Yes, there is a definite link to autoimmune...
  16. My son had a UTI too, but he was potty training at the time. And it was for the reason stated above, and he just had to quit holding it. I have 2 boys, and they are ALWAYS hot! The clothes come off as soon as they come in the door. I have a hard time keeping clothes on them! I find that to be odd for a little boy to be cold so much. I am cold all of...
  17. That might be a good idea...if I can find them? I would also like to try walnuts.
  18. Yes, I do question the super sensitive thing, but I think that I've been doing okay on Penzey's only spices. But I really would like users of Penzey's to say if they've reacted. I have tried to grow my own spices in pots on my kitchen window sill and I got too grossed out when I realized that there were these little teeny tiny bugs ALL over them. I threw...
  19. I have tried the Namaste cookie mix a couple of times and seem to do okay with it when I don't eat the entire batch! I am wating to add peanut butter. Has anyone done this, and does it change the baking time or temp? And how much to put in?
  20. Oh, you guys...I'm having a positive day today, but I'm all too happy to join in! I am SICK of not being able to go out to eat. I am sick of not being able to let my kids join in other kid's gluten fun without getting glutened myself. I am sick of my son asking me if we can stop for a burger or have regular pizza, and having to crush him. I'm tired...
  21. I took my kid to play at Monkey Joe's bounce place. I packed gluten-free food for all of us, because they cannot touch it around me or I will get nailed too. I asked them if I could bring in my own food due to allergies. They looked at me like I was the biggest liar! I had to ask 3 different people and a manager several times, but they kept ignoring me...
  22. I've had good experiences in Indianpolis too. They are also my #1 restaurant. I order take out twice per month. I did get glutened once, but I didn't know if it was glutened or food intolerance. What happened was that I was dining in the restaurant and the wait staff and manager told me that the gluten-free calamari was safe for me. I told her that I...
  23. I actually had a good experience the other day in Indiana. I came to meet some family, and just prepared myself not to eat...just enjoy the company. The waitress asked why and then what food allergies. I told her that I'm allergic to everything and that it's no use. She brought me the allergy menu anyway, and I ordered grill chicken with asparagus. i...
  24. I ate there too, and they were trying to be very accomodating, but maybe I have too many issues. I can't have dairy, soy or corn either, so my choice ended up being a salad with steak on it plain. They informed me that no chicken and only 2 cuts of steak were gluten free. No spices or sauces. It was okay, and I didn't get sick. It feels that I had to talk...
  25. Hi. Well, I DOOOO take it all with a grain of salt. I have fructose issues myself. I just don't have big gluten reactions a lot of times...unless I know I got really glutened, so I'm left wondering? I get muscle aches and pains and foggy brain, but I am also sorting through RA and possible Lupus issues. It's just hard to sort out. I know that there are...
