    Going out to eat is a real nightmare so far. No one knows what celiac or gluten is unless I am in NYC.

    Thanks everyone. I think I will call the place directly and tell them I don't want to bother the bride and see what they say. The wedding is at a yacht club so there is a restaurant there, it won't just be the wedding/catered food. Hopefully they can just make something plain for me.

    Usually buffets have salad bars, that might be your best bet or maybe the restaurant can prepare a non buffet dinner for you- plain chicken with vegetables.

    I had a blood test and an endoscopy. I didn't have the genetic blood test- it was an antibody one. I heard the TTG IGA is a good one for starters or ask for the celiac panel. I think the genetic test would show if you have the gene for it, but you still may not have actual celiac disease. I am new so I could be off.

    I have a wedding coming up in November and I was just diagnosed. I hate to be the picky one or complainer, but do I tell the bride or just wait till I get there and tell the waitress/er at our table that I need my dinner plain? I'd much rather not get the bride involved if at all possible. What do you do?

    This is similar to me. I just got diagnosed a few weeks ago and my parents cannot recall anyone that has had stomach issues in our immediate or extended families. Missy'smom- I don't really have a huge concern about diabetes as far as me thinking that I have it, but when I looked back on my blood tests from last year I noticed that my glucose was always at 99 or 101, which is right around normal, but 101 is high.     Those results look negative? My results were over 100 and one test was even over 400. I suppose if I were you, I would go gluten-free to see how you feel rather than doing a biopsy since your results look very negative.     Is it autoimmune and is it hereditary? I always thought Type II is from bad eating habits/non exercise, I thought Type I was AI and hereditary?     These were my blood test results: TTG IGA is >100 Reticulin AB: negative (not sure what this is) Gliadin Panel: IgG: is 131 IgA: >400 Endomysial AB Endo Antibodies IgA: Positive, titer 1:320 my TTG IGA result is the same as yours- >100.     I am not a Dr or anything, but when I was dx'd with celiac they just did the Anti-Tissue Transglutaminase (tTG) IgA and it came back positive (38). Then the Dr told me I needed the endoscopy to confirm, but she told me that the TTG IGA was like 97% or 98% accurate.     I remember going to my in laws the weekend before and having a big Italian meal- pasta, breads, etc. I also had a chicken finger sub that weekend. Pizza sounds good! Enjoy!! I tried gluten-free pizza from my local pizza place recently and it was very good!

    Thanks! I had some this weekend and totally forgot that it might not be gluten-free. I just started the diet last week and really didn't have GI symptoms to begin with so I couldn't tell by drinking it. That was the only questionable thing I've had so far (to my knowledge)!

    Longshot, but has anyone dined at Dos Caminos NYC and had a gluten-free dinner? I can't find much online. What do you typically order at a Mexican restaurant gluten-free?

    I drink it everyday and have no issues- I add the raw sugar and half and half and I don't have issues with those either. I am hoping the pumpkin spice latte is!!!
