  1. The only thing I have noticed is that sometimes it comes early. This started about a year ago, I was always very regular (never on the pill either). I would get it 28-30 days. Last summer I started getting it at 24 days. Since then they have anywhere from 23-30 days. I wonder if celiac has anything to do with it. I was just dx'd 2 months ago.
  2. Well, my main symptom is rib bone pain on the left side. That is why I kept going back to different Dr's and I finally got a celiac dx in August. I have been gluten-free for a couple months and it was getting better, but lately it has been back. I am not sure if I accidentally got glutened or if it is not related to the celiac.
  3. 1. Female 2. Age: 35 3. How long ago were you diagnosed with celiac disease? 2 months ago 4. Does anyone in your family have celiac disease? Not that I know of, some of them are getting tested and so far they are all negative. 5. How severe is your celiac disease? I think it is silent, except for some joint pain in my ribs and anemia. I have no gut issues...
  4. I am 35 and was just diagnosed 2 months ago! I was feeling a little off for the last year or so and after many tests celiac came back positive. I am not sure how long it has been active in me. I was under a bit of stress a couple years ago, so maybe that set it off. No idea. What were your symptoms? My Dr told me it is common for people not to be...
  5. My Dr told me that I just need to have blood tests every 6 months or so, only 1 endoscopy. Endoscopies or being in the Dr's office don't expose you to radiation (as far as I know). CT scans and XRAY's would do that.
  6. Do you still have that pain? I have that too. I started gluten-free 9/1 and the pain had pretty much gone away, but in the last couple weeks I have been noticing it again. It's not disabling or anything, but a nuisance.
  7. This was not my case at all- my blood test was at 4PM on a Tuesday and they called me Thursday morning with the results. Also, the endoscopy was at 7am and right after it the Dr showed me the pictures of the "scalloped intestine". Sure, we had to wait a couple weeks for the path report, but he saw damage right away. The non confirmed diagnosis is probably...
  8. I was dx'd 2 mos ago and it really isn't that bad except when ordering dinner out. I had the side pains too- were yours on the left side near the lower rib cage? It seems some of your tests from Enterolab are high, definitely get your copies of earlier blood tests. I do miss eating pasta and bread out, but if I really want pasta I go to NYC to a...
  9. I understand, that is why sometimes I wish I had more of a reaction when having gluten. My TTG levels were off the charts high, but I don't have many symptoms- except for the rib pain. I have no GI issues at all. I think when I go back in Dec for my first blood test gluten-free for 3 months maybe I will know how sensitive I am. I was just offering up...
  10. I try to make it a point not to talk to my family and friends too much about it. I think about it on my own and discuss it with my husband- he is a health food freak anyway (even before I was dx'd) so he can relate. I just try to put myself in their positions, would I want to hear about their medical condition non stop? NO, so I try not to do it to them...
  11. I randomly found out that someone I know in my work industry has celiac also. I was at a conference recently and he told me he had celiac. He told me that he regularly cheats. He said sometimes he just wants a real brownie, real pizza, real pasta, etc. He said he is usually very strict- even at the conference he brought all his own food and stuff. I...
  12. I was dx'd in August and my left sided rib pain (my only symptom for the most part) got much better about 2 weeks going gluten-free. I didn't buy any new cookware, my Dr told me it wasn't necessary, but if you think that is the only way you are getting gluten- maybe give it a shot.
  13. Did you ever have a celiac blood test?
  14. I had a biopsy and it was not DH. They weren't itchy either, I didn't even notice them, she did while doing a body scan for skin cancer. They were called eruptive synringomas according to the pathologist.
  15. Thanks all! I will have to get one of those dining cards and saying the allergy thing is a good idea. I did tell the waiter no croutons when he said he didn't think they were on there, so he definitely messed that up. I hope that dressing was really gluten-free too after I devoured all of it!
  16. What about the endoscopy? If you don't want that route then I would eat more gluten and have the blood test done again. My first TTG IGA test was 38, 2 weeks later (right before my biopsy) it was way higher than that (like over 150) and I wasn't even eating any differently. I have no idea how that happened.
  17. I am newly diagnosed as well and I have a wedding in November. I plan to call the place and ask them about special diet and then once I get there I am going to talk to someone in charge to ask for a plain meal. I'd rather do that than have to bring my own stuff personally.
  18. Touching stuff doesn't bother me since you can't get sick from that. Going out to dinner is just a pain, but just order everything plain and you should be OK. I was at a brunch all yesterday afternoon around all non celiacs and it was fine. The hostess made my plate totally separate and it worked out wonderfully.
  19. I bought a bag of trail mix the other day- just not salted almonds, peanuts, and raisins and on the back of the bag it said it was processed in a plant with wheat. I ate them.
  20. Just going out to a restaurant and not having to request a special diet need. Maybe a bowl of pasta, that sounds good about now.
  21. You would need to have an endoscopy, not a colonoscopy. Please let us know what they find out. Maybe start with the celiac blood panel? Mine was off the charts high. Yes, I had that terrible ribcage pain. It started about a year ago. The pain seems to be at the bottom of the left rib, and when the Dr pressed on it, it hurt. He told me it was the bone...
  22. I was just reading back, I can't believe so many of us had the ribcage pain. Peterm- I had the left side pain too- kind of wrapping around the back. It was so unbearable right before the diagnosis, that is actually why I went to a rheumatologist. I had no idea they would find celiac though. I was dx'd with costochondritis for months. It was so bad...
  23. I take 25 mcg Synthroid and my endocrinologist confirmed it is gluten-free.
  24. What about the herb flavored one? I can't find anything concrete online. Does anyone know off hand?
