  1. yikes--thanks for the info. i will be getting my rice flour somewhere else now
  2. Nancy- Go here and match up your product with the picture of those listed. Open Original Shared Link The top products--the Classics line are gluten-free, and have some pumps (probably what yours is). The bottom products, the Naturals line, are NOT gluten-free. Make sure you don't see yours there....
  3. Female Age: 26 gluten-free since Feb 2005 Constipation -yes, has improved since gluten-free Diarrhoea- on occasion Abdominal pain- unexplained, started after going gluten-free Indigestion- no Acid reflux- no Other related problems: fibromyalgia, persistent fatigue
  4. Hey- Thank you Ms. Scientist Tiffany At least I can now go back to someone who claims they know the temperature at which gluten is destroyed and say 'well, actually....I don't think that's been proven...'
  5. Good thoughts Wendy. I was reading in an article today where PF Changs and Wildfire both said they created gluten-free menus simply because more and more people were asking for them. There is truth to getting the word out. I am currently writing letters to all my old doctors who misdiagnosed me, humbly asking them to rethink their paradigm of celiac disease...
  6. I was reading an article in "Living Without" from last fall and someone from PF Chang's mentioned that traces of gluten are destroyed in a wok, b/c the heat gets up to 600 degrees. Anyone have more info on when gluten can be "destroyed", so to speak ? I haven't heard much about this...
  7. These sites list a couple in Chicago, just scroll down-- https://www.celiac.com/st_prod.html?p_prodi...-50105092123.29 Open Original Shared Link Hope you find one! I like mine...and how everyone always brings food each time with meet!
  8. ha ha, that's cute it would make a good t-shirt! i am still looking for some really "cool" gluten-type t-shirts... haven't found any yet...
  9. I was at a celiac disease support meeting this weekend and some people mentioned hearing several times about issues of gluten contamination with Arrowhead mills products. Has anyone else heard of this?
  10. I also use Thai Kitchen noodles for stir fries... Have you gone to an asian market to look for the crunchy noodles? I bought them once, but it was before I was gluten-free, and I can't remember what they were made out of. I would assume they were rice based, but not positive. I've found the products I've gotten from asian markets also state ingredients...
  11. How are you able to give the shots in your home? Does your doctor order you the mag/equipment? I wanted to give my allergy shots to myself, but my doctor wouldn't let me...
  12. wclemens- I'm glad for your success in finding an icecream bar. I know how such a seemingly simple victory to others can be huge for us !!

    ARCHIVED Grrrr....

ha ha ianm! that is something i might think, but never have the nerve to say !!
  14. What an inspiring woman!
  15. Shirley- Great tip on the soap. I weeded for an hour and a half last night, then got out the soapy water spray. I sprayed two bugs head on and they died instantly. Man--what's in my soap?! Oh, and after I sprayed, my garden smelled nice and clean
  16. Open Original Shared Link Good news for you! There is a Whole Foods market in Springfield--sell lots of gluten-free items there.
  17. Shirley- I think I owe you one. I looked online and my bugs look very similar to squash bugs. Haven't found a pic that has the same coloring exactly, but the shape is the same. I can't wait to go home and try spraying those *#&$ !! Slugs--every year we wil get a few mutantly huge slugs--like larger around than my thumb and longer than the span...
  18. Great tips on the onions Shirley. Hmmm--the new bugs I have in my garden are black and red too. Not sure if we are in the same kind-of climate to have the same bug...but they are all over. I can't tell if there are two different ones or if the mostly black ones, which are larger, are the matured bug...
  19. I have calaphon anodized cookware at home, but using Pam on them will ruin them, so I have one teflon type nonstick pan we use for quick and easy dinners. Can't remember the brand--I bought it at Target. I do not worry about the pan till it starts peeling either, and unless someone is cutting in the pan with a knife or using a metal utensil, it should last...
  20. Donna- Do you get knots in your muscles at all too? That is something else I have with the pain--my muscles are full of knots and trigger points...
  21. Shirley-- I may try the dish soap/water combo for aphids. Does it work on other bugs too? I meant to take a few of the ones I've got in the garden to a nursery to find out what they are... But it rained all weekend! And porch and basement are leaking--porch is all wet Kimberly-- It's great to hear how proud you are of the man your son has become...
  22. So I FINALLY drank some of that Bard's Tale I bought a month ago ! Now, I'm not a beer expert (more of a hard-alcohol type of person), but it tastes pretty good to me, like a beer Maybe a little on the bitter side ?
  23. Yeah Shirley---I consider buying organic a luxury--most people can't afford it! I rarely buy my fresh foods organic at this time, simply due to price. On our income--I can't justify paying almost $3 a pound for apples when I can get them for $1.29 a pound! Maybe one day...
  24. At this point I don't worry about teflon. We keep on teflon pan on hand for quick meals. However, once a teflon pan starts to get old, the teflon will begin flaking off b/c of cuts etc, so that's when I throw it away and get a new one...
  25. That's cool Michelle. I give you props for being so proactive, its great! I wrote 4 letters this week to restaurants re: gluten free dining. We'll see if I get any responses...
