  1. My friend found this on our local paper and sent to me. It was so cool she found it! Short article, read till the end and you'll see the connection to Celiac-- Open Original Shared Link
  2. Oops! I should have proofed that one! I meant to say I kicked butt Not, I butt !
  3. Heck yeah--I played that game and I butt However, I still have labels out in the real world that puzzle me from time to time... I sent it to my friends--we'll see how they do !
  4. Hey all-- some of you may remember I've been having abdominal pain for about 5 weeks now, started after going gluten-free, never had it before. I had my gallbladder ckd out, spleen, liver...and the dr now thinks it is Sphincter of Oddi Dysfunction--which bascially means there is inflammation or too much pressure in my bile duct and when the gallbladder empties...
  5. Ooooo... a franchise. I could be interested in that a few years down the line.
  6. PS-- Ever heard of the gluten-free trading co store in Milwaukee? It makes me want to live there! They sell only gluten-free food and have a huge catalog. You could use their catalog as a resource for products too... Open Original Shared Link
  7. I ditto Carrie and add Pamela's Mixes, Mi-Dels, Manna from Anna, Amy's dinners, Chebe, Nut Thins crackers...to name a few !
  8. I wish I had wisdom for you, but I don't... I can't imagine what it must feel like to have a miscarriage. I am so sorry you have had to go through this several times. I also hope your perserverance will be rewarded with a child. Prayers for you...
  9. Kaiti-- What made you decide to stop using plain sugar in recipes? Taste, calories, health ??
  10. Kaiti-- I haven't tried Stevia yet--you really like the way it tastes? And does it work well in baked goods etc?
  11. I try not to eat any artificial sweetners either. First off, I just can't get used to the taste and second, they give me issues too... Get my stomach all gurgly...
  12. Whitney- Some good info posted here--that if you have celiac disease is it very common to be under weight. You did mention that you feel you are fine at your current weight, which sounds very skinny to me. I just want to be honest and ask the question--do you think you have any eating issues unrelated to Celiac, in addition to maybe having the disease...

    ARCHIVED Maggiano's

That's awesome!! I was there this weekend for my parent's surprise party and the chef was great. He came out beforehand and came up with a special dish for me to match each course of the menu. Unfortunately I can't eat the pasta myself b/c it is made from corn, but the food I did get was excellent. He gave me his card--I will definitely be going back...

    ARCHIVED Dating

Perhaps the delicacy with which you broach the subject can depend upon who you're out on the date with ie. My husband is a no-holds-bar honesty type person, who, on our first date, asked me so incredibly pointed and personal questions ! So, I could have whipped out the gluten on him pretty dang fast !
  16. Crappers.... Is my Sprite okay? I'd die without it !
  17. Funny about 911 ! I have to say at one restaurant--who has a gluten-free menu online--it took me 3 people to get to someone who finally understood. But the 2nd person--the manager came out and said to me "Everything on our menu is gluten free." And I was like..."huh, that's funny, because I'm looking at bread, and beer, and breading and croutons...
  18. No worries, I've had 3 with no issues. I had a bit of a sore throat after my last one, but nothing more than that. My experience with 3 different docs it that you get a combo of anestethia drugs--one to put you out and one to give you amnesia in case you happen to see a bit of it. Either way you'll be under and shouldn't really notice anything... Good...
  19. Stephanie- Ha ha !! So true... To bad he only wants to grill a few months out of the year. And an indoor grill isn't so exciting to him--its like a cop-out ! Vincent- I definitely DO exploit it ! I do accept the differences between men and women, and try to use them to each of our advantages. More and more I understand my husband and how different...

    ARCHIVED Dating

I'm married now (See--somebody did want someone with food "issues !), but when dating I was always up front about the food/gluten stuff. I found that it usually came up naturally. If you meet someone who is truly interested in you, they will pursue you regardless of gluten And you would want to be with someone who is willing to make the effort to care...
  21. Abby-- Do you guys have a grill? My husband llikes to cook if he can do it on the grill--all the fire and parts and tools--It affirms his manliness. Seriously--the manly thing is a huge motivater !!! He's like "Grrrr, I just grilled this shrimp and steak. Arrr..."
  22. Seriously! (I read "Association of celiac disease and intestinal lymphomas and other cancers")
  23. Good articles! But can I just say I am reading the one on cancer and celiac disease and am getting myself really freaked out about it !
  24. Stephanie- That's cool...I had lots of friends at IU. Ever hang out in Broadripple? That's where I live...
  25. Carrie- Huh, I'd be curious to see that recipe. I have some friends who are "home brewers". Stephanie- Yeah, I definitely know where Valpo is! Did you go there for school? I went to DePauw...
