  1. Kimberly-- Oh, and flower gardening. Just starting all that this year and year past. When we moved into our house (renting at present), it was a MESS! Ever heard of lemon balm?? The bane of my existence ! My mom and I (and hubby at times) spent hours pulling it up--it was everywhere. The woman before planted everywhere, but never maintained it. I...
  2. This is a fun topic--glad I started it ! Kimberly-- ha ha! You're crackin' me up! i love that you have an embosser too! Good luck with your daughter's move. as gzimmiz mentioned... I myself have only gotten closer to my parents since the years I've moved out. We are very close. Funny thing--my dad is more of the crafty one than my mom. He...
  3. Also, Donna or Barbara-- Have either of you received a "cause" for Fibro? Something more specific? I've heard so many things, like "who knows" or "malnorishment of muscles over an extended period of time" or "build-up of toxins in body." Just wondering... I guess if we ever had a definitive answer, we could get a "cure" too perhaps... Hmmm
  4. That also reminds me (am I being a dork here?), I got an embosser last Christmas from Martha Stewart (yes, yes, I know....), that is personalized, says something like "homemade by jennifer e hutson". I use it to emboss tags on homemade gifts. Its fun...
  5. Kimberly- I think part of my lack of desire for kids right now is partially health-related, feeling like I can barely keep myself a float, let alone carry and then care for a child. And part of it is probably a fear of having to give up some of my desires too... I will really have to learn to simplify and choose less. On the other hand, I think having...
  6. Stephanie-- You reminded me I like to give a lot of homemade gifts in ball jars for holidays. Used to make some awesome homemade granola for friends. Haen't tried to ammend that recipe yet...
  7. Donna- I have described EXACTLY my pain as you have in the past--walking into the side of a dresser... or sometimes, when I'm laying on my side on the couch, my cat will walk across my hip and it kills! It is a different pain than I had before fibro when I would get poked. Even the backs and sides of my legs, and my chest, my back of course, my butt....
  8. Thanks for the info celiac3270--glad to see they were on Delphi too. I hardly ever go to Delphi--don't know how you can keep up with two boards at the same time !
  9. Moving On-- Yeah, i have a 2nd toaster at home, so i think i may get some envelopes for travel. We also stay at hotels with continental breakfasts. Is King Arthur a store? Just never heard of it... Thanks!
  10. Barbara- So you've had some success with the magnesium/malic acid combo? I haven't been diligent enough myself to really know I guess...
  11. Indianapolis, IN... have it in my signature now. I'm trusting no one will start stalking me now... JK
  12. Ugh! That's stinks! I'm sorry! So many times our friends don't really get the long term consequences of being glutened. Don't be afraid to be honest and decline even if you are suspicious. Maybe you'll have to give them a long lists of non gluten-free foods... I had a friend recently say she was going to bake me a gluten-free surprise for a cook out...
  13. PS--this post might offer some more help... Open Original Shared Link
  14. Nice Kimberly! We would get along I have been amazed at how my goals have changed over the years... I grew up with a 'feminist' chip on my shoulder (for good reasons at the time...) and thought I would grow up to be a workaholic corporate suit. I do work full time, and am thinking I will probably go the route of HR (still not sure), but I never imagined...

    ARCHIVED Grrrr....

Wow Donna--that is awful !! Its a good reminder that we should always make the decision we're comfortable with. Like if someone says "I made this for you...and its gluten-free...", and I don't feel comfortable, I shouldn't worry about making them feel bad, and say "No thank you" ! That's my philosophy anyway
  16. I don't know about RSD, but I am another with fibromyalgia... My experience has been chronic muscle soreness all over, with specific spots of tenderness--spots that feel like deep stinging bruises when poked...
  17. I love hearing about you ladies--canning and interests. I definitely love the "old arts," so to speak. But on the other hand, I am of course, very post-modern, so my friends think I'm funny with all my crafts. I get a great deal of pleasure out of thinking, planning, working on a project and enjoying the fruits of my labor. And the work is also peaceful...
  18. Shirley-- You go with those six acres ! We just have a small garden for now. My eyes are always bigger than my... body I guess! I always make more work than I can handle. My husband and I discussed planting like 2 tomato plants this summer. When I came back from the store, I can several flats of plants !! There is so much I'd like to grow... What...
  19. I was just thinking about my garden and about fresh veggies and wondered if there was anyone else who likes to can their own foods? I wanted to 'put up' some strawberry jam this year, but think I'm too late... Just curious if I'm the only one. I know there are some over achievers out there!
  20. sounds great! i wish whole foods was in Indiana !

    ARCHIVED Grrrr....

Britt- Yeah--wouldn't that be ironic if my coworker turned out to have celiac disease ! Why do the docs keep telling you you're pre type II ?
  22. Hey there... I was reading the Gluten Free Living magazine this week and there was a blip about these envelopes that go in your toaster, you put your bread in them and it covers them up, but toasts normally. They look interesting! I haven't tried these, but thought some of you might like them. I might get some for traveling, like in hotels. You can ck...
  23. I think someone posted this response once before... Maybelline was a slacker..didn't send me ingredients of lipsticks, but here is a list of their ingredients that do contain gluten. You can get the ingredients for your specific lipstick and compare them to this list. I would e-mail and ask for a list of ingredients for the specific type of lipstick...
  24. The blue boxes do make one feel special Although, those of you who have posts in the thousands deserve like 10 boxes !!!
  25. Oh--It will probably take a day or 2 to hear back from the companies. Also, ck out this post for gluten-free lists on chapstick. bonnie bell, blistex in case you use those: Open Original Shared Link
