  1. Boy! When I think of going off the pill though... don't think my husband would be too excited about that !
  2. I usually make my own from individual spices-- for tacos, you could try paprika, cumin, onion/garlic powder, chili powder, garlic salt, black/red pepper. You'll be able to make it exactly like you want it. You wouldn't have to use all of these spices either. Good luck !
  3. Good info from the others! The designated counter area is a good idea, or putting down a tray or some paper before you put food on the counter. Just be honest with the fam. I had to tell my husband to Please Please stop using my shears to cut your pizza! Whether or not you scrub them afterwards! He finally got it I can commiserate about the sponges...
  4. Heather- Feel free to complain here--and no worries--if you are a freak of nature, than the rest of us are too So did they keep checking you for a middle ear infection? Hopefully you will make some good progress before your move comes. Ever try those naseau wristbands? I tried those years ago, and think they helped a bit... You could try that...
  5. Good advice on being patient. I have been gluten-free for several months and haven't notice much improvement yet... It can take a while for some individuals. You're on the right track !
  6. Taco seasoning makes me sick--even if it is gluten-free. I think it is the corn ingredients--its pretty intense with spices too. If I make my own seasoning with separate ingredients I am okay, but can't use the prepackaged taco seasoning...
  7. In case any of you use Clearasil products--I use a couple of their face washes and wanted to check on them. They said their entire Blue Line (the original line) and their Total Control Line are both gluten-free. Just an fyi !

  9. Mariann- What does your daughter's DH on her scalp look like? Does is get scabby or is it more like little pimples ??
  10. Oh, and if I ever HAVE to take an antibiotic for something, I definitely take acidophilus at the same time.
  11. Katie- What all were your symptoms? Is stool the only way to test for candida? jknnej- Do you ever take acidophilus? I went through a period of time where I was getting the "female" candida I started taking acidophilus and haven't had a problem since. I start taking it the moment I suspect an infection, and I never get one.
  12. Ooooo--I'm going to have to try them--sound great !
  13. Susan- Good to hear your transition was relatively easy. I have been on the pill since I was about 16. (No, I wasn't a high school nympho! I had several ovarian cysts rupture.) And my cramps were unbearable at times and had to take pain killers for them. I am hoping I might have out grown some of that, or that when I go off (to get pregnant I would...
  14. Cleveland Bob- I read about one liver/gallbladder cleanse. (I'd have to look back--I think maybe you suggested it to me?) It had lots of fruit juices. I can not tolerate fruit juices and know I would be a mess. Perhaps there is another way without all the juices ?
  15. Turtle- PS--If you are interested in psyillum and need more info, read this post I wrote previously on it, what I use etc. Open Original Shared Link Oh, and my suggestion with trying new or alternative treatments, always do lots of research ! Good luck !
  16. I would be careful with the cleansing. I don't think it hurts to knock back some psyillum (Stephanie and I seem to like that!). And yeah, toxins building up can be a bad thing. However, I can't help but feeling like a lot of the cleanses/colonics can be dangerous in and of themselves. (Even though my mother in law is hard-core cleanses and does colonics...
  17. Wow. I wonder about myself and corn syrup. I'm sure it can't be good for me! I've gotta say, sometimes I wish I could just look inside my body and really see what all is going on. I feel like somethings I will never figure out! And this whole process to and through celiac disease has me realizing more and more how little the medical pratice truly...
  18. AH! CORN! It kills me! Almost immediately after I eat it (meaning even like 3 tortilla chips), I start to get cramping in my lower abdomen, gas and eventually major bloating. And it can lead to constipation for the next several days. (Saw you take pysillium--that used to be one of my best friends! ps--I took it with hibiscus too which helped move things...

    ARCHIVED Maggiano's

I'll let you know. ...And my brother just called me--he said when he left the tasting that they gave him a 2 lb bag of the gluten-free pasta from Italy for me to try !! Can't wait to see what it is and try it ! Nice PR!
  20. Old habits die hard... So, since I ate Rice Chex everyday for like 15 years before going gluten-free, I now eat Healthy Valley Rice Crunchems (Open Original Shared Link). And because I ate Cream of Wheat all the time too, I now eat Erehown Cream of Rice. Just like the old days... pretty much

    ARCHIVED Maggiano's

One in Indianapolis Indiana, or actually the address might be in Carmel. Hopefully it will turn out to be chain-wide. I have a note into them asking... I commend those restaurants who are not afraid to serve gluten-free !
  22. That's cool Donna. I only have one local friend with Celiac. Hmmm, we have 5,000 attenders at my church (yeah, its pretty big...), so that would mean, let me get out my calculator...hmmm... that there should be about 38 other Celiacs ! We could start our own support group! That would definitely be motion enough to get some gluten-free bread for communion...

    ARCHIVED Maggiano's

Hey-good news I think! My brother and I are having a surprise party for my parents at Maggiano's italian restaurant, and when my brother went over for the tasting this week, they told him they now serve gluten-free pasta, permanently ! Woo hoo! They also told him they cook the gluten-free pasta and dish in separate pans etc of course. Now, I haven't followed...
  24. Hey thanks! Think I might try this one tonight actually...
  25. It does feel good... I keep thinking if 1 in 133 people have Celiac, I must know several others ! Hmmmm....which one of my friends is having issues...
