Ursa and Yolo: Thank you so much for your input. I have never heard of any of these remedies before. I will talk with my herbalist about them. Ursa you are right about pain killers. They also sap even more energy than the CC. And I just don't have any to spare. Thanks again. You guys are great!

Well, it happened again. Cross contamination. I think from the salad bar at work. Who knows. I am assuming it takes several days for symptoms to show up for me. Everytime the symptoms are different. This time it was sever stomach cramps. I haven't had any for over a year! I have been using herbal supplements that have kept stomach issues at bay. So...

casnco replied to Nancym's topic in Related Issues & Disorders

Can you function at your job during this 30 days? Take care of day to day living. Running errands, socializing? Thinking clearly? Thanks for your input! Debbie -

I am planning my daughters graduation party this may and want to serve cake. I never serve gluten. my family is always amazed how I come up with such good food and there is no gluten. ARCHIVED Has Anyone Else Tried Humaworm?
casnco replied to Nancym's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Carla, now that you have done this twice. Have you tested your sensitivity to gluten? A lot of the symptoms of parasite infestation are the same as my celiac symptoms. Has deworming been helpful with your celiac? -
I get so confused with my flours. Spelt? Gluten Free or Not Gluten Free? Could you help me out? I don't really even know what Spelt is? Is it part of a grain or a grain itself.

ARCHIVED Call Out To The Girls
casnco replied to L.A.'s topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I use Lorelle waterproof mascara. It has been fine for the past several years. I purchase a shampoo and conditioner from my hair salon that states on the labeling that it is Gluten Free. YEA!!! -
Jeannine, darlin, you need a different dermitologist. A whole year with this rash is maddening!! A resident is only practicing medicine. The physician who supervises that resident may feel you need a biopsy but he wants his resident to make the call. A learning tool if you will. So you are a human learning tool and this resident hasn't learned his lesson...

Although my dermatologist tells me DH only breaks out on the knees and elbows I find I break out anywhere and everywhere. There is no rhyme or reason (other than gluten of course). Each break out lasts approx. 6 months in different degrees of severity. Going gluten free after a break out helps but not immediatly. Like I said before, about 6 week duration...

casnco replied to jenrn's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Gluten Free pantry has a Bread/Pizza mix that is like french bead. Not exactly Italian but it is actually good. Let us know if you find a good Italian. (Bread that is, HE!HE!) -
ARCHIVED Quinoa Help
casnco replied to blondebombshell's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I haven't experimented with Quinoa much but I do cook it like oat meal and eat it with honey and milk like oatmeal. I think it has a similar texture and taste. It is very filling and sticks with you. Good luck with it and I will look forward to hearing what others do with it. Debbie -
ARCHIVED Changing Reactions To Alcohol
casnco replied to Sailing Girl's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Well, I am one who must be careful now. I used to be able to drink all night long and get up and go in the morning. Beer was my beverage of choice followed by wine then Vodka. Now of course beer is out of the question. Wine if I am careful I can still drink. But Vodka made with grain, WhooWee! Have I gotten drunk quick and gotten mean! I was never... -

ARCHIVED Hair Still Falling Out!
casnco replied to Babygirl6915's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I have had the same problem. I checked all my products. they did not say Gluten Free but they do not mention any known gluten. Had my throid tested and I am a "low normal". No treatment. Stopped coloring my hair. Still no relief. Then I went to my herbalist and we are treating for stress. This seems to be helping. Also, about 2 months ago my stylist... -
Can anyone suggest a great restaurant in Nashville for New Years Eve? I have never been there and we are going to a Bowl Game. I know there must be fantastic places to eat. Thanks in advance for your kind help. Debbie

Dr. S. Thanks for posting. It is good to know there are doctors out there who will take the extra time to learn about this disease. I would give anything to have a dentist like you. If you post where your practice is I bet you could become a Celiac Dental Specialist! HA! HA! We would all be waiting in line to see you.

ARCHIVED Another New Beer!
casnco replied to mamaw's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I am glad there are companies out there trying their hand at gluten free beer! Some resturants are now carrying gluten-free beer! I am so excited! So what are the other 2 new beers on the market? I am always game to try anything once. -
ARCHIVED Cheeseburger In Paradise Has Red Bridge!
casnco replied to wolfie's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
YEA!!! i just love RedBridge! I didn't know I could get fries at CIP. I have been to the one in Hilliard. Does the one on Sancus have a guitar player singing all of the beachy songs? The music was always my reason for going. The food is not my cup of tea, that is unless I can really get FRIES!!! I hate cooking my own. Thanks for the post. -
ARCHIVED Thanks But No Thanks
casnco replied to dandelionmom's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
How exceptional that casual acquaintances give some of you gifts. I have never had someone like that offer me a gift. The people I have received gifts from are usually people who know and love me. Casual aquaintances usually bring gifts like that to the whole office for which I would never say a word. I never complain about all of the wonderful office... -
ARCHIVED Thanks But No Thanks
casnco replied to dandelionmom's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I am certainly gracious when someone gives me anything, however, I do not accept gluten type gifts. It gives the wrong message if I regift it. I use the opportunity to teach. How will anyone ever understand food allergies if we passively sit back and accept the poison we are offered? I am not the Grinch but I just can't accept something that could hurt... -
I assume you have a rash you are taking the benadryl for, and most probably have dermititis herpaformosa? And yes, I have used benadryl. in cream form and pills. I also use tea tree oil and a steroid cream. I will use anything anyone suggests to alleviate the itching. Just be careful with large doses of Benadry. Doesn't that make you sleepy? It would...

ARCHIVED Progresso Clam Chowder
casnco replied to Katesmom's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
ravenwoodglass and Momma Goose, Thanks for the suggestions. I can eat ice cream and other milk products without any reaction so although milk could be the culprit, I am just going to avoid the soup and stay blinded to anymore allergies. Same with soy. If it is the culprit I don't want to know. I just can't face eliminating anything else from my diet.... -
Are all of your spices new. Anything you used before being gluten free should be thrown out. To much chance for CC. Also, and this is a big one. What about your pans? Did you bake gluten in them before? Last christmas I replace EVERYTHING! Rolling pins, muffin tins, bread pans.... I had to use some tin foil ones for a while because the process was...

ARCHIVED Progresso Clam Chowder
casnco replied to Katesmom's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I was so excited to read the label of the Progresso clam chowder and mushroom soup. I bought 2 cans of each. I started with the clam chowder. I got pretty sick. I thought, "well, not everything is related to celiac disease" so a couple of weeks later I tried the mushroom soup. Sick again. I am thinking there is some CC. I am done with Progresso. My...
