    I've recently gone gluten-free and am seeing how fast the $$ will add up with buying bread. I really like Udi's bread. But between my son and I a loaf doesn't last too long! Has anyone found a mix or recipe that tastes like Udi's frozen breads? Is it more economical to buy the frozen bread or invest in a bread maker and flours/mixes?

    My 14 month old is going through a few tests. We've suspected celiac disease for awhile, but no diagnosis yet. Through some recent testing we did discover he is DQ8/DQ8 for his genetic test.     I posted this in another area but thought I'd post it here also. Yesterday we found out that my son has 2 copies of the DQ8 gene. So I believe that means my husband and I each have at least a DQ8 gene. So then that would mean 1 of my parents has the gene and 1 of my 4 grandparents carries the gene. Is that correct?     I had requested genetic testing for my 1 year old. We found out he has 2 of the DQ8 genes. The doc said this could put him at an increased chance to have/develop celiac, but that the DQ2 gene would make it more possible.     My 14 month old loves those animal crackers. They come in 3 flavors- vanilla, chocolate and cinnamon. We haven't tried the cinnamon yet, but so far the vanilla and chocolate are pretty good (I eat them myself!). My son also loves raisins.     Well I gave him an entire slice of whole wheat bread today and I'm not seeing any reaction yet. I would think that wheat bread would have plenty of gluten in it. Guess we'll see what the doc says.
