ARCHIVED Best Leaky Gut Healing Diet To Follow
IrishHeart replied to Emilem's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
This is a chiropractor's blog. He is basing this theory on nothing scientific. No published data to support this theory We have discussed this topic ad nauseum on here and unfortunately, there's nothing published and peer-reviewed that proves that the protein in coffee and the protein in gluten "cross-react". -

That would be awesome! and then, we should also get kickbacks from Nuts.com, Culturelle, Country Life vitamins, Enjoy Life Chips, etc.....that some of us rave about, but then , it would be a serious conflict of interest...and then, we could not post here anymore and then, we would be sad. ...and we can't have sadness, because well, that's no fun.. The End -

There is no "cure" for Celiac Disease. If there were a cure, it would be front page news. And we'd all be dancing in the streets. Can someone heal a ravaged and leaky gut? Sure, but you still have Celiac Disease and you should never, ever ingest gluten again--or you will spark the autoimmune response once again. As for the myth that "coffee cross... -

That pizza crust is just delicious, Sylvia! Tonight, we're having chicken thighs--not sure how I will prepare them yet, but I made Risotto Milanese last night (instead of sweet potatoes) and that encore should be tasty. And some sauteed baby spinach. The bacon jam, spread on buttered Bette Hagman's 4 flour bread(makes crazy- good toast)--just wickedly... -
ARCHIVED So Sick! Is The Gluten Challenge Worth It?
IrishHeart replied to txgirl's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Well said, Chill. Nor did my official DX have any of my family members take it more seriously and get tested themselves. I finally gave up urging them to do so--for my own sanity. It should not be this hard to get a proper diagnosis, but sadly, it is. Until that changes, people have to decide what's best for themselves. No one needs anyone... -
ARCHIVED Help For My Husband
IrishHeart replied to Katty's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
IMHO. your husband is having a normal reaction to all that is happening in his body and brain chemistry.(and adjusting to being gluten free and realizing that his life--and yours--is changed) Anyone who is diagnosed with a serious disease will go through these stages. Frankly, I threw things and screamed at the top of my lungs a few times when I was... -

Ditto! I made bread yesterday, too so we slathered some on --very tasty!! and yes, I was very disappointed the recipe only yielded 2 cups.( It says yields 3. cups--nope ) Next time, double or triple batch...and bourbon! I'm gonna need a bigger slow cooker..... -

Thanks, Ski xxo As it so happens, I am also making Bacon Jam today!! I have had that recipe printed off for months and now, it is time. I am using the slow cooker. Why? because I am lazy. Later, we will be having Beef Filets Roasted sweet potatoes and some other veggie as yet to be determined. I still have to bake bread, too... -
ARCHIVED So Sick! Is The Gluten Challenge Worth It?
IrishHeart replied to txgirl's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
There are many who will tell you it is not worth it to try and get a DX because like me, they would be so ill and incapacitated by the end of the first week. There are many who will tell you 2 weeks is enough to get a positive result. There are others who will tell you 12 weeks (because that is what the Univ. of Chicago Celiac Center recommends on their... -
ARCHIVED So Sick! Is The Gluten Challenge Worth It?
IrishHeart replied to txgirl's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
If you really want to see if you can get a diagnosis, your GI can DX you based on: (1) your symptom resolution from a gluten-free diet (2) taking into account the positive genetic test (3) your return of symptoms on the gluten challenge (4) the many Autoimmune diseases in your family (5) your own medical history (fibro is a blanket Dx for "muscle pain... -
ARCHIVED What Am I Missing?
IrishHeart replied to angelynnb's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
When you had testing, you were gluten free. Since testing is based on gluten antibodies present in the body, there is no way you can get accurate testing while you are OFF gluten. You may wish to read about valid and invalid testing for "food intolerances" and food allergies. There are tests for wheat , dairy and other food allergies, but there are... -

That's me right now. zzzzz NYC was fab. I'm exhausted.... and it was totally worth it to go and revive our anniversary tradition. I walked for miles, SKI--and I am none the worse for wear. Rockettes, Santa, tons of people--what's not to like? I went in St. Patrick's and said some prayers of thanks that we "came out the other side" of these past crazy... -

I am stunned frankly, because I am a techno doofus ---and anytime I try something like that...it does not work. Glad he is still clapping. I am making white pizza for the hubs and we used Bette Hagman's recipe (thank you Sylvia) I turned her onto the bread, she turned me onto the pizza dough. Cool. And God bless Bette Hagman--the queen mother of... -
oh me, too.........man, that is a terrible waste of good bacon.... Safe travels, Cory.

food crack indeed I make crostini out of them. Cut them into 1 inch rounds on the diagonal, brush them with garlic /herbed EVOO and lightly broil quickly. 1-2 minutes. Then, let them cool. Slather them with some goat cheese and a dollop of marinated roasted peppers (make these beforehand---use yellow, red and green grilled or broiled peppers...
