  3. Thanks, Mom. And next time, I'll make sure he gives me the right stuff. Hope all's well in sunny Cal..... and you're still very vertical. Tonight is the hub's birthday dinner, but he has yet to tell me what he wants. He is usually very cheery, but Grumblepants is not taking this birthday with grace for some reason. I told him, "Oh hush up....
  4. you're right...I blew that one. I did ask for that no epineprine anesthetic two visits ago (because you and several others gave me that great advice--thank you! ) but he must have forgotten this time and he shot me up --3 needles---and well, I knew within minutes he had messed up....this was a few days ago and the heart palps lasted 2 days!!-- and...
  5. I thought it was a B-12 deficiency too, but I was treated for that and it still burned. I had all kinds of allergy testing--nothing there. It was crazy. I heard all kinds of theories: yeast infection, menopause, vits defs, etc etc. Nope. Eventually, it stopped, but it sizzled pretty good for a long time....and yes, just like I had eaten and swallowed something...
  6. I know, my head is hung low in shame. I am failing miserably at S and C today. I am not feeling stellar at all (novocaine kicks me arse and causes heart palps, etc.) ah well....we will have sherried portabellas on that beef...does that count?
  7. okay, sweets, I reread what you wrote initially and you know what I think don't you? .......but I can't "do" anything from shared facilities. Every time I try it, I get bitten on the behind..Just a thought, but you said: To be fair, they are produced in a facility that also handles wheat.
  8. Dinner tonight: Steak sweet potato fries sauteed rutabaga
  9. Holycraponacracker.....Your arsenal is getting bigger and bigger, K---you scary dame. Now, that's just a shame. Poor kid. Makes me cry to think he'll never know the joy of Ba-con! My mother won't eat cheese for the same reason. Can you imagine 85 years without cheese???? I tell her "you can't be my real mom!". I recall the...
  10. No, really?? Because none of us would have ever known that! Do you know how many happy C and S- eating fans you have? And the "RBJ" redunkulous bacon jam (ask SKI LISA) is making the rounds from coast to coast (literally)
  11. The hydrogen breath test for lactose intolerance test will not make you feel as if you want to die. It's simple. Non intrusive. Seriously, if you really want to know if it is lactose intolerance, you can just go do it. It's no biggie, a piece of (gluten-free) cake...cake, who said cake.?.....gimme that cake.......!!!.
  12. Now, see THIS type of description is what provokes that drooling, honey. oh, do not be scared. Karen can always shoot him. The ribs sound outrageous. I LOVE lamb. Enjoy! Dinner tonight (coincidentally) Lamb patties Sauteed Chard Roasted baby potatoes
  13. ...oh boy. I have no words. (I know, that's rare) okay, I have recovered..... Hon, drink up! And please, get a new dietician. or just read this celiac-savvy, well- respected registered dietician's (Shellley Case) book Open Original Shared Link
  14. I see your point, Gee Eff ....but Addy has been time- tested enough. She asked "is there a test". I said "yup". Thought I'd cut to the chase. . I see from her response though......she "ain't going there". (can't say as I blame her. )
  15. and you all thought the clapping guy with the big teeth was creepy.....drooly guy is worse.
  16. I do not think it has gone so terribly off topic at all. The discussion of various approaches to healing a leaky gut is very much on topic. But, the link you posted to---does indeed say the SCD diet cures it--along with this "Curing celiac disease depends on repopulating the intestinal tract with helpful flora microbes." While I agree probiotics are...
  17. under 200 pm? pm? what standard of measurement is that? Because the celiac researchers are lobbying for a "safe level" of under 20 ppm. http://medschool.uma...ling_letter.pdf in any case, glad you could drop in 7 months later---- after I posted the exact same concerns as everyone else. All those comments exactly like mine--and you chose my post...
  18. Yes, I had burning lips, mouth, throat and GI tract for 3 years. It was horrible. No one could explain it to me. It was an inflammatory response apparently, because some time after going gluten-free after DX, it stopped.
  19. Sweetie, there IS a lactose intolerance test. Two tests are commonly used to measure the digestion of lactose. "Hydrogen Breath Test. The person drinks a lactose-loaded beverage and then the breath is analyzed at regular intervals to measure the amount of hydrogen. Normally, very little hydrogen is detectable in the breath, but undigested lactose...
  20. Yes, I read about Dr. Haas' work years ago. He treated babies with failure to thrive and bloated bellies -----with bananas. Were all those babies celiacs?--who knows---maybe it was some other digestive issue?. All malabsortion diseases were lumped together at one time as "coeliac" (i.e. wasting disease) "In 1951, Dr. Sidney V. Haas and his son...
  21. I'll bet PS I love that stuff, too. Is it much like the children's nativity in "Love Actually"?
