  1. Maybe you don't go to forums for medical advice, but some people have to ---because they have no health insurance or a family doctor or family members who are in the medical profession. Or maybe they have been unfortunate enough to have had doctors who misdiagnosed them for years and they have no trust for them anymore. Since you are new here, I think...
  2. same here! and I do not apologize for being a chocolate snob, nor would LOVE2TRAVEL, if she saw this....I may have to email her right now...
  3. can I just repeat how much I so love your delivery? because I do. mmmwaaa!
  4. Oh, he would have beer and pizza if he were a celiac? then, he is incredibly stupid and irresponsible. There are "worst things than dying"?? meaning what? cancer? losing your brain function? yes, that is pretty horrific....because that's possibly in your future--or any number of AI diseases-- if you continue to ingest gluten. What the heck...
  5. that's what I do, too! yummedy yum yum
  6. There's a nice-looking acorn squash sitting here looking at me right now. I think it's getting baked, with some roasted potatoes and a piece of salmon for me (but sausage for hubs) He won't touch fish. Peter and Kelli Bronski's easy salmon recipe in a foil packet: salmon, red onion, scallions and garlic with an olive oil, agave and lime baste with...
  7. Meaning, even if some gluten should be ingested, will the intestines still heal over time? Maybe. Depends on how much you're talking about and how badly you were affected in the first place. Cases of refractory sprue do occur. Are you concerned with being cross -contaminated or are you asking if it's okay to eat it on occasion and still, eventually...
  8. If it does not give you any grief, I say....Eat up!!
  9. You do not have to say goodbye to cereal! And for oats, just buy certified gluten-free oats. Bob's Red Mill, Glutenfreeda, etc. make them. There are MANY gluten-free cereals to choose from. For "milk", I use So Delicious Coconut Milk. Tastes GREAT. As the others have explained, with celiac, the villi are blunted. The tips of the villi are...
  10. Yes, honey. I felt like sh*t every day for years. Just because you are eating a gluten-free meal right now, you have not HEALED. It takes a long time to heal a ravaged gut from celiac.

  14. It does to me!!!!!!!
  15. This is hogwash...that's the same thinking that kept me from being Dxed. (I was once overweight) and if you have a MOTHER and CHILDREN with celiac disease, you should have been screened right away! I was "far from thin" as you say-- and then plummeted 90 lbs. and almost died. I agree with Shroom---print off the info ---and I suggest you demand a celiac...
  16. Amen, sister!
  17. I had terrible bladder pain, spasms, frequency and was tested frequently for UTIs for several years before DX. One time, it was an infection but otherwise, the urogynecologist I saw was stumped. It was awful and to this day, if I am glutened, I get the pain and urgency back. ugh. Like you, my friend E and my Mom do not have terrible gastro symptoms...
  18. My symptoms certainly became worse and much more serious over the years (not sure what the ER doctor is talking about) and they became debilitating and I was dying a slow death. I look at my progression of symptoms as being directly related to various traumas (several surgeries, including the gall bladder when I was 26, multiple miscarriages, viral pneumonia...
  19. oh no, point your binoculars more south. That's not me... I was doing something like this:
  20. mmm, I LOVE sea bass. Hubs hates it, so I only get to eat it occasionally. May I come over? I'll bring cake.
  21. Truer words were never spoken. Not to stray too far off topic, (or I'll have to warn myself ) but you guys should get some Kinninnick or Against the Grain grahams and make these sometime. I have always made an entire cheesecake too, but these were fun (I served a raspberry coulis drizzled on the side) and the 6 WEs who were here for dinner last week...
  22. well, I'll do the happy dance with you (can you see me? )....the sausage will make it even tastier, no doubt. Enjoy!
  23. It's day 3 of cold, rainy and gray here in the Northeast, so it's a meatloaf and an apple, carrot & sweet potato gratin kind of day. ooh! and two pieces of that flourless chocolate ganache cake that are stashed in the freezer may be coming out. Diet be damned.
  24. I do not have a recipe exactly, I made it up as I went along, but it's sort of like this: http://www.epicurious.com/recipes/food/views/Rigatoni-with-Mushroom-Ragu-231652 There's a recipe for one in the Joy Of Cooking too. I saw it online, but I can't post the link here. (it's the A...n.com site and they spam us) The version I made omitted...
