  1. That is a VERY good idea, Roxie!
  2. That's a good idea, B!! We have one of those compounding pharmacies here and when I had to be on thyroid meds (briefly) they did that for me. I also used a mail-order compounding pharmacy, but your doc has to be willing to do all this for you. He had to fax it in for me. Again, it was not a long term thing for me, so I do not know how practical it...
  3. She probably does lots of things for the love of her family, but transporting a sealed up box of frozen food in her car does not mean she does not love them. Suggesting she move out? Now, that's completely over the top here, Capt. Why does she have to do that? Lots of people co-exist safely with GEs. Come on, now. Let's be reasonable...
  4. Hon, I see lots of things on the internet, but it doesn't make them true. I saw a cream advertised that claims it will make me look 20 again. They even had "proof" and some articles for me to read. I do not think it will work. and just a P.S. I am not speaking for anyone else on the site nor is this "the stand this site wants", (I am not in charge...
  5. No, there is no "chemical similarity" between peanuts and coffee and gluten. Please do not start that coffee thing again. If someone has trouble digesting peanuts, it's because they are having trouble digesting peanuts. If they cannot digest coffee, it is because they cannot digest coffee. That's it.
  6. I'd like to see a pic of your wally world attire!
  7. DRINK a LOT of water. It really helps to keep the pipes clear and moving If that does not work, consider having your thyroid checked. Hypothryodism can cause C too. Good luck. Hope it helps.
  8. I tried so hard not use the word "paranoid" in my first reply, but since everyone else is chiming in here...what the heck. They are being paranoid!!! We do not know why you are not gluten-free like the rest of your family (and it is none of our business either) but do not let them push you around with guilt, honey. I was trying to picture...
  9. Hon, I feel your pain, I really do. I am sorry you have to keep eating the poison that makes you feel like you are dying just for a test. You sure sound gluten intolerant to me. IMHO Why didn't he just order a BIOPSY? If you've got enough damage, it would still be evident after just 2 weeks gluten-free. Since you're almost there, and a DX is important...
  10. Get liquid vitamins? I imagine all capsules/pills will contain some sort of starch or filler.
  11. No. There is no way he can "make that happen". You can consult the most up- to- date gluten-free medications/OTC lists, read the ingredients yourself and call the company. The companies I have called (food, meds, other products) are all very gracious about answering questions.
  12. okay guys.... should I go back and read this thread? or just giggle to myself with all kinds of speculative thoughts the next time hubs has an Altoid?
  13. Try a tablespoon of ground Flax seed meal or certified gluten-free psyllium husks in 16 oz. of water twice a day for a week. Citrucel is gluten-free, but it is loaded with chemicals.
  14. A positive blood test is positive for celiac. As Karen says, the biopsy could be wrong or you just have patchy erosion at this point and he missed it. Your doctor is partly correct--you should be gluten free, but there is always a need for follow up care. You need lab work to make sure you do not have any vitamin deficiencies for starters...
  15. I was just starting to post as Karen did You had those food sensitivities, you just did not notice them as the gluten/celiac was the primary one. Now that you're starting to feel better off gluten, they are more noticeable. Secondary food intolerances often resolve. I got dairy back after 10 months (whoohoo) Hang in there. And, you will go through...
  16. Ker, Take a look at this and see if you have any of these symptoms as well. I want you to start making a list of all your symptoms for your doctor. Open Original Shared Link
  17. Kakavian...are you Armenian? me too, Dad's side! Now, I am sobbing and my husband's eyes are full of tears, too. I read what you wrote out loud to him. He says "Get tested, but even if it is negative, go gluten-free!" Think he believes your wife has a gluten problem, too? Yes, he does. I swear, I felt my heart crack one day when he quietly said...
  18. I take no medications on a regular basis, but when I have had to, I am very fortunate that my Rite Aid pharmacist has bent over backwards for me. My account is red-flagged and they read labels and call companies for me. Then, she gives me the insert, I read it and check it, too. The thing is, most companies cannot guarantee anything for us anyway...
  19. I do not see how FROZEN meals, packed inside a plastic bag could possibly have any "loose gluten" on the outside of the package. I honestly think there is no need to worry about it. Keep them in a plastic bag in the trunk--if that would make them feel better. We sometimes purchase gluten-filled groceries for an elderly aunt all the time...
  20. There is nothing wrong with eating peanut butter or almond butter in regards to gluten or celiac. Almond butter has more protein, I believe. Also, you posted this in the Board/forum technical help section, so I am going to move it to the products section, so you can get more responses! okee dokee?
  21. I had those IgG, IgA tests done through an Integrative Doctor and ND too. IMHO, they have major flaws. I was off gluten for 5 weeks as a trial back in 2010 because I was desperately ill and in horrible pain and I was trying anything to get well. Neither the ND, the IM Doc or my own GI at the time felt it was celiac disease as I was overweight and did...
  22. I had another thought for you. Call your local Celiac Support group or hospital and ask for a doctor who deals with Celiac patients and their after-care. Also, start a new thread in the DOCTORS section here (this is how I found my new wonderful & attentive GI doc) Entitle it: NEED GOOD GI DOC IN ________________ (largest big city...
  23. As long as it's gluten-free paint, whatever blows yer skirt up, kiddo!
  24. Okay, well, all these symptoms are certainly related to celiac/gluten. I choked up again as I had the same memory of my hubs carrying me into the ER several times because I was so dehydrated and had abdominal pain so crippling, I begged him to just shoot me. YEARS of this baloney. Insanity. He made me drink water and salt/sugar to keep my electrolytes balanced...
