ARCHIVED The Funny Pages - Tickle Me Elbow - The Original
IrishHeart replied to TriticusToxicum's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Triple entendre may be more apropos than triple pun, yes. A clever play on words, either way we call it, that was. He said it "tongue-in-cheek", no doubt. -

No, you have to do it FOR me, Em....like Peter and Jess do---I'm techno-challenged (whine, whine) -
ARCHIVED A Glutening, I Really Do Know Better.
IrishHeart replied to GF Lover's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Poor babe. Having mastered the "butt cheeks firmly squeezed together as I pray feverishly to make it home before I lose my dignity" walk, I can honestly say I "get it". I knew where every public bathroom was within a 180 miles radius of my home. I even resorted to the woods on occasion. Hon, some of us would have never made it OUT of the restaurant... -
ARCHIVED It's Official I Have Celiac
IrishHeart replied to ageofrockets's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I read it all. I had wicked tinnitis, TMJ pain, and many debilitating neurological symptoms (ataxia, parasthesia, burning nerve pain, cognitive issues, etc) but it would take twice as long for me to write them all out again so you could read them. Suffice to say, looks like all these issues could very be related but I have no idea how long it will take... -
ARCHIVED Corn Meal?
IrishHeart replied to sora's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I get my corn meal & grits & masa harina from nuts.com. They have a good certified gluten-free selection of foods. Shipping is pricey, but fast. Open Original Shared Link -

Holy crap on a cracker. P, you mastered the triple pun! Just fantastic!! Kudos!!! Is there a hand-clapping emoticon? Jess ? (every time I ask about these things, she makes them appear....she's magical!) -

ARCHIVED Newbie Confused About Her Blood Results! Quantitative Iga High?
IrishHeart replied to Maddie11's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Here is what I found: "Levels of IgA get higher in some autoimmune diseases, such as rheumatoid arthritis and systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), and in liver diseases, such as cirrhosis and long-term (chronic) hepatitis. High levels of IgA may mean monoclonal gammopathy of unknown significance (MGUS) or multiple myeloma is present." In summary... -

ARCHIVED Well That Was Fun (Not)
IrishHeart replied to KMMO320's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
It IS an adjustment, but "do-able". Hey, you have every right to squawk a little. We get it--we vent and bit*h here sometimes, too. It is overwhelming and pretty sucky at first to accept the diagnosis. But, then, you move on. The fact that your daughter is so hooked on wheat gluten speaks volumes. I was, too. Subbing the bread and pasta is simple... -
ARCHIVED Contamination On Food Boxes
IrishHeart replied to heidi b's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Jess is right. I think none of us would disagree that we always hope ( and some of even demand it) that the GEs in our lives will take precautions around us. I hope we have given the OP an answer that she and her family can work with. Maybe now, her celiac family will see that a frozen packaged item wrapped in a plastic bag in the trunk of her car will... -

IrishHeart replied to KMMO320's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
There are many parents of celiacs on here who can help you with all this "transitioning" when the time comes. The fact that they are hypo at such a young age speaks volumes. they may well continue to develop MORE AI diseases. You do not want that for them, I know. May I suggest: Against the Grain pizza? Very good. In time, you can learn to bake... -

ARCHIVED Contamination On Food Boxes
IrishHeart replied to heidi b's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Well, we are a passionate bunch and the majority of us have told her the frozen items in a bag in the trunk should pose no problem. Heidi, a bunch of passionate celiacs think it's cool to transport your food in your car. Please tell your family we do not think it's a CC issue. Hope this helps!! yes.... and welcome to the Forum!!!!!! -
ARCHIVED Which Came First Biopsy Or Blood Work?
IrishHeart replied to roxieb73's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Some "intelligent" docs use symptom reversal/resolution, your health history and the genetic test as enough info to make a DX. As for your sibs, Honey, I have tried to get mine to be tested too. My whole extended family has dozens of AI diseases I KNOW are linked to celiac/gluten, but no one is being tested or even trying the gluten-free diet, except my... -
ARCHIVED Well That Was Fun (Not)
IrishHeart replied to KMMO320's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
A hypochondriac IMAGINES illness. Are you imagining all these things? Nope. You are not a hypochondriac, hon and don't let anyone tell you that. And regarding your comment "No one wants to be a celiac." because you have to take away a food group. Well, no one wants ANY disease, but it is what it is and there are worse afflictions. At... -

IrishHeart replied to KMMO320's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Okay, I recall your story now. Well, I hate to state the obvious, but you just told us what happened when you went off gluten---you felt great !!!---and what happened when you ate the donut? You had all those symptoms return. Still think you imagined it? I don't. -
ARCHIVED Which Came First Biopsy Or Blood Work?
IrishHeart replied to roxieb73's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Roxie has two threads going on this subject and she is getting the same answer from us all . She had AMAZING initial Results being off gluten. Stop the challenge that is making you so sick and be well. Get the biopsy done ASAP, if you really want to do it. Do not worry about the rest of your family right now, hon. You come first. -

ARCHIVED Well That Was Fun (Not)
IrishHeart replied to KMMO320's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Nothing drives it home like a gluten headed migraine. Refresh my memory---are you DXed with Celiac or not? Because if you have Celiac, I am going to give you a lecture now on why you should NEVER, EVER do that. But if you are just testing the waters because you doubt your non-celiac gluten intolerance, well that's different and I am sorry... -

yes, but then it cannot possibly be you as you do not wear them. I know it's not you anyway. You know better than to wear a black thong during the day. How declasse. -
