  1. Glad your heart is fine!!!
  2. Hubby giggled at that one, Shroomie...
  3. I agree completely!....in my case, the palps seemed to be more related to the glucose instability. (It may be coincidental that it stopped at the same time the vitamin deficiencies cleared up.) I any case, I am glad they have stopped. That went on for many years...ugh! My hubby has AFib and it has nothing to do with gluten issues. In fact, his cardiologist...
  4. I would have her tested as well. IMHO. Why wait? You probably know this, but just doing an endo is not going to show celiac....they need to biopsy and you all need to be eating gluten at the time so it is a valid test.
  5. You cannot put it off, Jen. You'd have to resume eating gluteny foods for months for that test to be valid. Just do it now and be done with it. They can biopsy the DH, too...look under the DH section and see how that works.
  6. You're welcome....Uh-oH...insomnia? Had it for years. Like 2 hours a night, tops....I had the "racy gluten heebie jeebies " not the "sleepy gluten head" like some people have....just hell....much better 10 months gluten-free...hang in there!
  7. Jen, Do NOT hesitate to tell him each and every symptom. He needs to know. (I was told my symptoms were "just" aging, or menopause, or anxiety, or stress or maybe fibromyalgia or grief (my dad had just died) or maybe this, that or the other thing...take this pill, take that pill, blah, blah, blah....nope, nope, nope !!! arrgh!! What Bulls--t; they were...
  8. ah, saltines....yes, I miss those! sigh Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately, I live in the part of NYS that does not have a Wegman's...sigh again.... maybe she can find it over in the Boston area where she lives.
  9. yes, Peter, I have to agree that it would not work in the recipe --as I believe Mom uses the soup, sauteed beef and noodles....minimal herbs...it's not very complex, as I recall. In any event, I have suggested she try the Fig Foods condensed soup... As I said, it's at least a 50 year old quickie casserole....but she seems to like it still. My hungarian goulash...
  10. Poor babe---blood positive and DH..and still need to have the biopsy. Why on earth do doctors insist on doing this to people? Ya, ya--the "gold standard" blah blah blah... geesh. My vote? Load up on the gluten, kiddo and get it over with this week! Make sure he takes enough samples from various spots. I have trouble with all these kinds of tests...
  11. thanks, Chill...she's all that.... She works out at a gym 3X a week--cardio kick-boxing, aerobics, weight machines and a stair master --with her "girls" who are in their 60s'. Refuses to hang out with "old people" I am just glad she took the gene test and my DX seriously...since going gluten-free, she feels GREAT--no more GERD, or insomnia; her life-long...
  12. why thank you, BM! I also just got an email from another member on here who told me that FIG FOODS brand tomato soup is condensed...passing all this info on to Mom...she is very grateful to you all, BTW!!!
  13. She will never be convicted! .... she could probably get dozens of equally annoyed celiacs (and you can sign me up, BTW) to testify on her behalf!
  14. Humans tend to want to find the bright side and often do not know what to say when they learn that someone has a serious disease. Many people are also inept at true empathy---just listening and being suppportive is often difficult. Not sure why--it should come naturally, but it doesn't. I think it is mostly because they are uncomfortable and want to try and...
  15. thanks for the swift reply, Peter!....I have been looking myself and found nothing....Guess I'll have to tell her it's time to rethink the family recipe. Bummer.
  16. My Mom (who went gluten-free a few months after my DX) tells me on the phone that she is making goulash with the Tinkyada elbows I told her to buy. I said great! ...it hits me....um, Ma, what are you using for the tomato soup? (I know she has used Campbell's Tomato soup in her recipe for 50 years...) "Campbell's of course! why? "....Um, Ma...go get...
  17. Yes! I wore a holter monitor several times in the last 20 years for heart palps and erratic beats and A-Fib episodes....always told my heart was "fine"....yet, it felt like it was leaping out of my chest and skipping beats. I would get dizzy and nauseous. Sometimes, it woke me up! Heart palpitations in hypoglycemia can occur as well. My blood sugars...
  18. Some of the research info is outdated , however, the info on their various gluten-free products and nutritional data is helpful. I do not have a Whole Foods near me and have never shopped there, but my Mom does ---and she will appreciate these two lists. It was thoughtful of you to post the link. Maybe you should INFORM your local Whole Foods...
  19. There's nothing worse than someone who is NEGATIVE all the time. I know many people like this and after a while, I just had to curtail how much time I spent with them. I mean, really, I was so sick and in constant pain for nearly 4 years and I still managed to find humor every day---something that some of the negative sad-sacks I know cannot possibly do...
  20. Well, now that's 2 of you to suggest charcoal post-glutening episodes. I know some people take charcoal for excessive gas (celiac or not) and so, maybe I will get some capsules to have on hand if/when the next accidental CC occurs. Maybe it will speed up the recovery. Losing a week is rough. The one caveat is: Once it is in the system, charcoal absorbs...
  21. Balance issues cleared up pretty quickly for me...it's the bone/joint/muscle/nerve pain that is still a bee --yutch. Nerve pain takes the longest-or so my doc and so many of the journal articles claim...we'll see. I choose to believe it will all go away. Everyone heals at different rates. Hang in there, kiddo....you're gonna "clear out". ...
  22. ah yesss!!!...the stoner gluten head ....my first tell-take sign I've been glutened. Then, it's a week's worth of crap symptoms like anxiety, dizziness, nausea, depression, palpitations, ramped-up joint/bone/muscle pain, increased burning nerve pain, unable to articulate clearly and the ever-popular brain fog. (um, what's today? how do I make dinner, again...
  23. I feel for you and your BURNING...I was burning constantly from my mouth, tongue, lips right down to my rectum (sorry to be graphic, but it's true) & wide awake for hours every night for 2 years with a burning chest, stomach and pain that is unimaginable. I cried every night and after almost every meal. One thing that really helped me was using digestive...
